April 23, 200818 yr Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I've never been able to figure out what the lyrics are after the "365 degrees" of the 2nd verse - "Searching your mellow" makes no sense to me, and Chris definitely sings an 'O' at the end of whatever that 's' word is. I just listened and it sounds like: "Sergio Mello and........ (can't figure the last bit out) Sérgio Vieira de Mello was a Brazilian United Nations diplomat who worked for the UN for over 34 years, earning respect and praise around the world for his efforts in the humanitarian and political programs of the UN. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A9rgio_Vieira_de_Mello That fits in with Coldplay's support of Make Trade Fair etc. PS. Sorry if it actually is "Searching your mellow" - if it is then Chris' diction there is god awful lol.
April 24, 200818 yr Interesting. It actually does sound more like Sergio Mello than searching your mellow.
April 25, 200818 yr Author This is obviously not as interesting and groundbreaking as I initially thought lol, or I'm very wrong and nobody has the heart to tell me. Back to geeksville.
June 4, 200818 yr The lyrics to this song are driving me insane! :furious2: Has anyone figured them out yet? I have spent the better part of an hour analyzing it, and I've got nothing. It sounds like Chris is saying tecks-i-key-ah or something. I don't think the lyrics involve Sergio Mello, but it was hilarious to hear his name fit right in.
June 4, 200818 yr Author I'm sticking by them being "Sergio Mello and......" But I don't mind being wrong as long as someone actually figures out what they are, or, even better, Chris says!
March 4, 200917 yr Author So, Coldplay.com has been updated and now includes the lyrics to every song! So we should now be able to see whether or not my 'Sergio Mello' theory was correct! Wrong. Here are the lyrics for verse 3, according to Coldplay.com... X is Y The land, sea, rivers, trees, the stars, the sky 365 degrees All of the surface and the underneath .................................................................... ah And everything under the sun And everything under the sun They have conveniently left out the line in question!
May 2, 200917 yr ^ Gosh, exactly the verse you were looking for? :stunned: Well, as a portuguese speaker, I can surely tell you it does not sound like ''Sergio Melo'' in the lyrics. I mean, if you consider a very funny accent, then maybe it's ok. But here, in Brazil, we wouldn't say Sergio Melo the way Chris did at all. :P I've always considered ''searching you mellow'' as well, although it's not that clear. :)
