Coldplay:"Arcade Fire Shaped Our New Album"

Featured Replies

Ooh cool, I didn't think they'd be in this week, thought they'd save it all for next week with the vinyl.

"Chris Martin reveals the secrets behind Coldplay’s forthcoming album..."

My brother gets NME every week so I might gently persuade him to go now (he only just got up :dozey:) then steal it to see what Chris says about the album and Arcade Fire.

Should be the first new pictures of them next week too. Not that I care of course.

I really need to get a NME subscription

and jane's addiction is back? hell yeah

could anyone upload the article here? nme wont come around here

wow and finally some news about green day

I want to get the NME magazine...I don't know if they will have copies here in the US...

haha...I like green day too!

^Some bookstores have it. It's worth a look in any place with a bigger than usual magazine section.

Not surprised about the AF inspiration. Chris is obsessed. They certainly seemed to inspire the playing from the balcony stunts on tour in South America.

And they're Canadian :nice:

I haven't got a scanner but should have it by tomorrow so if no-one else has scanned it I'll type up the article for you :)

Another Chicagoan! Hi! :D

I have never heard of NME magazine, myself. Is it an international publication?

It's British. Comes out every week.

And expensive in North America. :(

That's a bummer! ;)

Hi Carolyn! Yay for Chicago!

I think it is a British music magazine...so it would be more expensive here. I want that free disc...with the b-side and all.

I will have to check Borders.

Thanks Mimi!

Actually the Butlers are from Texas and we have not given Canada permission to claim them, so they are a Texas band. :P

I'm surprised you guys in the US have a hard time getting NME - it's available everywhere in little old New Zealand and for a good price, so I will definitely be getting it.

I did think Arcade Fire when I heard Violet Hill - particularly in the rhythm, it's very stomping

It is kinda 'Arcade Fire'esque, especially from Neon Bible.

But it's still 'Coldplay', so it's all good.

Well Win married a Canadian, so close enough. Actually, she's Hatian, but that's kind of exactly it- we don't do the melting pot thing, everyone comes from all over, (plenty of American draft dodgers for example) it's the ending up here and joining in that makes you Canadian. So he's both say I. :P

And expensive in the U.K.

£2,10 a week now?

^Yeah, that's expensive too. It's about 7 or 8 bucks here (providing anyone has it to begin with) so about 4 pounds after having it shipped over?

He doesn't feel that way.

From Rolling Stone interview:

Despite the line "I don't wanna live in America no more," Butler now insists, "I'm so American -- definitely not Canadian by any stretch of the imagination. Everyone else in the band, if they get shitty food in a restaurant, they're almost embarrassed about it. Not me: The cornerstones of America are the Pledge of Allegiance and 'The customer is always right.'"

weren't they the inspiration behind the last album as well?
