IIHF World Championships 2008

Well I know I've been talking to some coldplayers on MSN about this tournament already, so there should be enough interest for a thread.

This is the first year the tourny is being held outside of Europe...and it just happens to be in my city (Halifax) along with Quebec City.

All I can say is Go Canada Go!

Woot, all i can say is Go Finland Go!

This is the best time of the year for me  I just love to watch hockey! I hate to see us lose but that's part of the fun hah.

I think it's either Russia or Canada who'll win this year. I'll be happy if we make it to the top 3. Sweden shouldn't be that strong this year..and Czech showed some weakness too in their first game against Denmark. Or maybe it was just because they thought that they don't even have to play to win Denmark.

Canada's off to a good start...up 4-1 after 2 periods.

I'll put some of my pics up later.

GO SLOVENIA GO!

Too bad our team lost (5:1 for Canada), but Kristan did a great job keeping that puck away from the goal. :smug:

Plus the way people pronouced "Kopitar" was too funny. :p

Nash and Heatley are going to light it up.

Being held in Canada is great for the tournament and our country.

Alot of people don't pay attention to it because of the playoffs going on but now maybe people will.

Go Canada Go!

We expect nothing other than goal.

WHat was that you were saying about not paying attention due to the playoffs? I just noticed it was happening, lol.

GO CANADA GO!!! (I need something to hope for after tonight!

Finland played really well! I'm very happy to see Mikko Koivu play that well woho.

Tonight's game between Russia and Czech should be interesting! czech didn't play that well at all in their last game but ah well.

I'm suprised how bad Sweden played! I feel bad for their goalie :(

game today verus latvia, should be an easy one:)

I'm going to Thursday's game!! Do you know who's playing Briggins?

Woo Canada over latvia 7-0

Woo Canada over latvia 7-0

yeah poor Latvia. And poor goalie :( But hey, there aren't many teams that have any chances to beat Canada.

Finland - Norway soon. That should be an easy game but we'll see.

Lets go Canada!

Game vs USA tomorrow, should be a good one.

I wish Slovenia had won that game vs. USA. At the beginning it seemed to be ok, but apparently the Americans got stronger then. :(

I'm so rooting for Canada tomorrow! I want to see them play on Thursday sooo badly!

oh my god. That game against norway was tough! But man i was happy that we won anyway :nice:

Finland didn't play well at all. All the guys were doing their own things and damn norway was playing smart too.

Soo, today it's Canada - USA woot woot, gotta watch that!

^ When does it start, Rolle?

USA - Canada starts 20:30 GMT

oh, that's in half an hour. :) I need to practise my english vocab, so I'll probably just watch it from the web or something.

Anyway, thanks! :D

Yeah I'm really excited that Saku joined the team.

I watched the game downtown today. They have this thing called FanFest where an attached building to the rink had around 10 big screen tvs with games on from Quebec and Halifax as well as some other stuff.

Not many people were there since it was a Wednesday afternoon. But toward the end of the game a lot of Germany fans came down and set up this massive balloon chain.

Then after the game we went outside and there were TONNES of Germans and Finns walking around. It was really awesome hearing all these different languages.
