thecrackedjack
Is anyone concerned that 2/3 of the songs released feature little to no music from the rest of the band? No drum kits, no guitars, no bass lines. I don't know about you, but when we are talking about a band, I'd actually like to hear the other members. I guess I just find it odd, that's all. Anyone feel the same way? Change is fine, I just wish it didn't feel like the rest of the band was removed from the equation.
TraceOddity
THe drumming on ASARY is subtle, but it's there, and whether the drums are electronic or real, it's def. Will playing them. His style's still unmistakable. If you listen carefully to VLV, you DO hear the other band members. They're just mixed very differently than on past recordings. It doesn't mean it's all about Chris, just that they're working with new mixing/mastering concepts...very Eno.:)
RunForTheHills
^ Kid A seems rather lacking too instrument wise, and its one of Radiohead's best albums. I'm done here :P

Pseudonym
Yea theyre in those songs. And in Violet Hill Will's drums power the entire song, and Jonnys solo puts it over the top. Plus, we havent heard the rest of the album. People are making quick judgements about the band when weve only heard 2 songs from the album. Pseudonym
I was about to say that! I wonder who plays the violin... Probably the same person who played it in In My Place, the Scientist, Politik, etc. Im sure if its not one of the band members, they probably have the same person always play violin, most bands have an "extra member" for songs like this. Maybe it's Prospekt playing violin!!:laugh3:

I say either a string quartet or maybe Eno created the sounds on keyboard or something.

JM-42
I think I remember a few months ago there was a thread about a classic music orchestra playing for a Coldplay song
Pseudonym
ususally for studio recordings bands record a full orchestra or quartet seperately and edit it together. I dont think it was keyboard effect, they usually go for the real thing.
CRYSTAL
there are no suggestions from others, just like all you people who consider yourself like complaining or whatever it is, even coldplay are free to do what ever comes to their mind. if you say no there's no need for them to stop no,what do you think?
low76
When they play the new songs in concert I guess the band can go backstage and take a break. Except for Chris...he'll have to man the keyboard or computer. Hopefully he doesn't get the dreaded blue screen of death on stage. That will be embarassing! Wait I heard something. Nope, that was just another synth sound.

Tnspieler1012
Yeah, you'll see when guy pulls out a cello on stage and jonny turns out to be a virtuoso violinist...the highlight of the show comes during jonny's glockenspiel solo on the second interlude of "42" perfectly complemented by guy droning on his painted didgeridoo. But seriously...the other band mates are involved more than you think. violet hill is a full band track and you can hear everybody's part in viva la vida too, it's just very subtle. I even hear some guitar in ASARY and we've only heard 30 seconds of lost. Besides half of those songs are b-sides . and also remember that the arrangements will probably be quite a bit different from the album versions. Radiohead has shown how to take minimalist songs and give everybody a (sometimes unusual) role to play. and they're a 5-piece.

Marisa
Exactly! I want Jonny, Will and Guy to be at the front of the stage for this tour. Let "Insane in the Membrane" Chris go running off stage or do those questionable dance moves somewhere else. :P
Texasluvsjonny
As far as the new clothes: Chris looks so happy to wear it, like a kid with new stuff for the first day of school. Guy seems OK with it, he likes retro stuff. Will always looks like he's wearing it just to try and get someone to say some shit so he can beat the crap out of them. And poor Jonny always looks like one of those pet in costumes photos, bless.
