Meeting the band?

Featured Replies

OK so I've been a Coldplay fan for a while now but I've never been able to meet the band.. my goal now would be to do this during the VLV tour.

Since some of you have met the band one way or another... I want to ask all of you for any advice on HOW to do this

any recommendations? :)

(someone's gonna nag cos this is my 2nd thread today :P)

If anyone has the answer to this question, then tell me. I'll give you my soul.

they're too big to meet the likes of you. my friend met chris at channel 4 studios and he was quite amicable. i'd love to have a nice chat with them about music. oh how i wish...

I wish I'd tried to meet them back when they used to play in like House of Blues ...but still, I don't think it's impossible to meet them now

answers people! I have no more nails to eat :laugh3:

Hate to break it to you, but it's about 99% luck.

...the other 1% being a combination of determination and planning.

I lucked out big time- my friend was even more obsessed than me, and got the bright idea to hang around the back door of the arena right around what turned out to be soundcheck. But that was an awards show when everything was set up a bit different. From what I saw at the one proper concert I made it to, security is a lot tighter at those, and the venues aren't in the middle of downtown next to a public sidewalk you can legally hang around on.

Some people seem to get to meet them by lining up early.... *shrug*

I can honestly say Chris is one of the nicest guys I've ever had the honour of meeting, but remember they are human- they have good days and bad days, sometimes they want to talk to fans and others they don't. So don't be disappointed if for all of your planning and effort that 99% luck factor doesn't work out completely or you catch them on a bad day.

it depends of the city and the mood of the guys

when they came here we waited outside the hotel and they went to say hi and sign stuff 2 times in a day... and they were really nice people.. Will and Jonny are really really sweet and Chris and Guy are cool too!

I'll tell you something,

I met them in my dream a few times. (uber lame I know)

but It made me extremely happy.

because I had felt how I would if I ever did meet them.

and knowing it's possibly the closest I'll get to them, I'm happy with that :)

Heh that's really sweet.

I can totally understand what it's probably like for them, being famous. I think I'd get annoyed after a while of all the fans and people recognizing me in public. But I think if I were in a band like Coldplay, I'd definitely set up a situation where only the biggest fans could meet me - it would be tough to organize though but maybe it could be like a contest or something.

The "likes of you" comment was a bit not nice - unless that was a joke?

that would be so awesome,

I think I could die truely happy if I could just say to them, all together...

"Coldplay changed my life".

then I could die :laugh3:

They have become a very big band but they still seem like down-to-earth people

perhaps attending a radio show?

to be totally honest with you

your best chances are working for a music magazine,

or radio show

or tv show.

There is a part of me who would love to meet them and then there is a part of me that thinks I would would be a big loser/geek,lol

I have my radio station contacts :sneaky:

I'm starting to think I should become famous in order to meet them :\

yea me too....

As someone already said, it depends of their mood, for example when they did the latinamerican tour last year, I saw a lot a pictures of all the band members with their fans in all the countries they went in south America outside their hotels and airports, but when they came to Mexico probably they were already tired or something, because they never got out of their hotel, with the exception of Chris who got out only one minute and he only signed autographs, no photos with anyone and didn’t say anything except “thank you”… (thankfully I was there in that glorious minute).

So If they are on a good mood you have chances in the airport or outside their hotel, or try to win a contest on a radio station when they give “meet & greet” tickets.

Thats the best way for a 'chat' with them. If you want to just say hi then hotels, airport, around the venue depending on where the gig is.

It must be hard being big and famous and stay nice all the time (or at least most of the time). But I think Coldplay is one of the nicest bands - doesn't mean the chance of ever getting to speak one of them is high. You probably won't ever meet them (sorry :P I would like it too!), but if you lucky you can score a picture or an autograph. You have to be lucky though.

You have to be lucky though.

Or an extremely good planner :wink3:

I think effort and research are the way to go. (a bit of luck is always welcome, of course)

I managed to meet them last year during the twisted logic tour.

I basically stayed outside the hotel they were staying for about 6 hours and before the concert they came outside, took pictures with everyone, talked for a bit, gave autographs.

It was truly one of the best days of my life and the guys are really human and not "super starts" like as some may think.

I remember Will kindly asking us not to bother his wife since he was already giving us everything we wanted. Jonny saying "aww, why are you shaking so much? Do you want me to hold the camera?" when I was taking a pic with him. Chris laughing at me when he saw that while everyone was taking pics with/of him, I was actually trying to get a pic with his body guard (I had to settle with a pic OF him... with Chris laughing at it on the back).

But something that helped me manage to do it was the brazilian forum admin. He got all the info and kindly shared with the ones he knew were most interested. So if there's a fan-club, a forum or somehting like that,, it is likely that they'll have a lot of info about the band and their stay in the country.

Wow what a great story! :D So lucky!

Or an extremely good planner :wink3:

Well yeah, if you try hard enough you can do almost anything :nice:
