New York show winners are ....

Featured Replies

all the posts on craigslist asking for 600-800 for MSG tickets are making me sick. people are such assholes taking advantage of coldplays generosity, making money on something they didnt pay for. blah!

they won't get far..... hopefully!

i got 2 in section 228....not too pumped on the seats but they are in the first row...

nyc radio stations are all giving tickets away .92.3 were giving away 1 ticket at a time??..i will put money on it that they are getting all the good seats...total garbage. this puts a bad taste in my mouth. also, there are a million people on craigslist selling tickets for 500 plus....no one is stopping them even though they said they would....how could they anyway...

Oi!!!! IT'S FREE!!!! no one should complain about seats at the Garden when you're seeing the boys for FREE!!! This is history in the making people... no one has EVER givena free show at the Garden!!!! EVER!!!!!

Be grateful that you're even going :P (which I know deep down you all are.... ) :)

Just got mine! Section 210, row A.

I was a little disappointed when I looked at them, then checked the MSG seating chart and found out that they're DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE STAGE and row A means having no one in front of me. Meaning these are officially my best seats ever to a Coldplay concert! And considering I would have had to pay nearly (if not over) $100 if this wasn't a free concert, I can't really complain.

Roll on next week!

My mom just checked the mail for me - section 305. I hate to be so cranky even though they're free tix, but really...300's!!? Which reeeeally makes me wonder how they're filling up all these seats and with what people??

Section 337 :( I know how you feel. I thought the tickets would be floor, loge, 100s. Oh well, we're lucky to have tickets at all and it should be an amazing show.

And the people who are buying those ridiculous priced tickets on craigslist, don't seem to know that they need a photo ID to get in. Even though the name is not on the ticket, I have the feeling the tickets were scanned with the ticketholder's name. So probably when you go to the show, the ticket will be scanned (like they always are) and the name will pop up and will have to match the ID. (That's my theory because the tickets came in an envelope with our names, but then again IDK)

I'm in 336. Row G! At first I though, who did we piss off? It's probably bad karma for posting earlier that I probably couldn't go to this concert (but we definitely are now). But obviously, we are overjoyed to have won at all, so it's all smiles over here.

Looking on the bright side, this is still a million times better than floor seats. We were on the Floor for the 2003 show and my Hobbit-sized wife didn't see the lads once due to tall folk in front of us.

section 202!! (eh, not too bad) if you guys go on the madison square garden website and click on seating chart or whatever. you can click on your section and it shows what the view is from where you're sitting. it's pretty sweet.

Seating

I can't be 100% sure, but I could swear I heard the show's downstairs at the garden, in the WaMu Theater. Go to this link to see the chart: http://www.wamuatmsg.com/seating/index.html

I saw The Killers there last year, and the 200 seats were great. The 300 seats are like sitting in the back row of your high school auditorium (ok, I'm exaggerating, but only a little). So don't be bummed if you're in the 300's, but if you're the show's in the actual arena, the 300's are less than great. Acoustics are waaaay better downstairs, too. Saw DMB from the 300's in the arena, and couldn't hear the music over the crowd!

Haven't gotten my tix yet, (won them on Sunday) but I'm hoping for the theater!

Seating

Sorry, double post.

Anyone know how PLJ is getting tix to winners?

Missed their call this afternoon, but they confirmed spelling of my name with my husband. Said they'll call again tomorrow. I'm so afraid something's going to go wrong. Has anyone heard anything about how we're getting our tix? I think it's cutting it too close to mail them.

It's most certainly the arena. Maybe not as intimate, but still going to be amazing!

NOT meeeee!!!!

I was definitely not a winner, hopefully I will win something later..

defo at the arena....

i know everyone seems bummed about the sections... but c'mon! This is Coldplay! You know they could easily fill up the entire place with fans..... but I don't doubt that clients and commercial companies, media and label execs got the floor seats... thats just business...

ideally the best seats in the house are secs 1-4 (floor) secs 53-64 (stage left one section off the floor) sec 80-70 (same as 53-64 only on the right side of the stage) secs 109-111, secs 119-121, sec 200s aren't horrible... but your up there.... sec 300s thats the second to the top level at the Garden (tickets there usually run about $50 USD for a basketball game.... concerts... sometimes even the same or $40. (In my experience)

should be a good show... anyone planning on waiting around for them to meet them?

My friend and I were considering it, but weren't really sure where/how to go about it. Seems like at most arena-like venues, they grab the bus in a restricted area where we'd never get to see them. Nothing like Brixton where the backstage door was apparently right on the street!!

Although, I'd love to hear some ideas, since you seem a bit more familiar with the Garden than myself. Only been there once to see the Killers last year...and was shoved way back in Section 343, so looking forward to a better view this time!

Def not at WaMu. My section is 312. Close to the stage but high as hell. I'm really anxious to see who's gonna be on the floor....

best chance to seeing them is catching them before the gig... for sound check.... most of the time they walk right in.... the entrance on 34th between 7th and 8th is your best bet. :) by the awning.....

ok, heres a question for all you guys. need some advice. somehow, 3 of us all won tickets and since i was the one to tell my friends about this contest, i get to choose the best of the 3 sets....all of which are ok, but not fantastic..not complaining, but its not an easy call.

section 220, row b

section 211, row d

section 228, row a

i think that section 220 might be pretty good, but he faces his piano the other way usually and then i am going to be looking at his back....not a huge deal.

i think 211 may be a little bit behind the stage and 228 is a bit far off...

anyone with a few minutes, take a look at the seating chart and give me your honest opinion.

thanks

34th? Would it be 33rd, since MSG borders 33rd and 31st? That's off the top of my head anyway. I always confuse myself. Off to check Google Maps! :laugh4:

Is that what you'll be doing, berrywoman? Really want to meet the guys, haven't had the chance yet unfortunately, so really hoping it works out in 6 days!

Even though it's far, I think 228 would be good - you have the front row there and you get to see all the action. I'm not a huge fan of the side view seats b/c you can miss a lot and sometimes the lights shine right in your face lol.

I'd go with Section 220 myself--for the exact reasons you mentioned. You'll be closest with 220. 211, you risk being behind a little bit, which wouldn't be good. And you'll be infinitely closer with 220 than 228, even if that means seeing Chris' back for a little while. (Although I heard they faced the piano the other way at Brixton!) I'm in 210 myself, so I'd have the exact same, though opposite view, as you in 220!

interesting they switched the piano around. i have been to 13 shows and its always been the other way...cool though regardless.

go with the sec 220.. better view of the stage.... ;)

gahhh! I always think its 34th because you can clearly see the Empire State building from that side of the block... but its 33rd... you're right! ;) (Empire State is on 34th.. :) )

i don't think I can make it out there for the soundcheck..... but back in September I saw Interpol there... and I saw them all just walk right by me (at different times) into the Garden thru that entrance....

also some other people have reported that they have met the boys around that area as well the last time they played MSG.... its the 'walk in' entrance for media..... :)

so, berrywoman, i tried to look this place up you're talking about on google streetview and this is what i came up with:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=madison+square+garden&sll=40.748037,-73.987169&sspn=0.014565,0.037594&ie=UTF8&ll=40.75191,-73.992754&spn=0.001821,0.004699&z=18&layer=c&cbll=40.751153,-73.993084&panoid=IyFFZR9Bg_3-SbEOItwFIA&cbp=1,211.91672397032323,,0,0.6521097026856526

-it's in between 7th and 8th on 33rd street, so correct me if i'm wrong.

oh and one more question, what time do you think they would arrive there for soundcheck? :) thank you!

that is exactly where it is... you can't miss it.... there's a huge sign that says "media entrance"...... soundchecks usually are between 4-6 in my past concert experiences..... but you never know.....

i kind of don't want to wait around for them. i do, obviously, want to see them but i'm afraid of making an absolute idiot of myself in front of them. it'd be a little difficult to seduce Guy if i'm looking like this -->:laugh1::dance::wideeyed:
