That makes no difference, if Uefa wanted to make the Europa League a better competition, they should stop the 3rd place teams from the champions league groups dropping down into it at the knockout round. Finish 3rd in your group, tough.

I never really see him elsewhere so it shouldn't be hard unless he makes more badly worded posts in the Woolwich thread. Hughes has done well at two clubs and done badly at two clubs. The two clubs he did well at were of Stokes level (Blackburn - where he did phenomenally all things considered - and Fulham, where he made a positive start). He did badly at two clubs where he wasn't making the transfers and was in a pressure situation of seeing the club spend a lot of money. He got Rovers out of a tight spot. When he took over they were bottom of the league and looking certain for relegation. he sorted the defence out, ground out results and took them to a semi regular European qualifying team. He has plenty to prove and is far from a safe choice, but then again who is a safe choice? This could be a stroke of genius if it works. I'm guessing you're biased because he managed the team you bang on about all the time, and I'm biased because he managed the team I've had a season ticket with for 19 years (just about to buy my twentieth when they go on sale).
