July 14, 200817 yr I was wondering if you can recall other bands that have mentioned maybe in interviews that Coldplay has musically influenced them. I'm writing a paper about Coldplay and need to find some sources on this subject. Any help is very welcome. :) Marie
July 14, 200817 yr sum 41's "Pieces" is like a photocopy of the scientist. I also believe The Kooks once said that Coldplay are the best band in the world!
July 14, 200817 yr they've certainly influenced me :nice: ..there's a band called Thirteen Senses who have quite a similar sound to Coldplay's, though I'm not sure if they've owned up to borrowing their kind of sound. (I did find this: http://www.musicomh.com/albums/thirteen-senses_0407.htm ..its quite mean though. I don't think I agree with any bit of it) as a complete aside, their song 'Into the Fire' is pretty fantastic. anyway, good luck (: M.
July 14, 200817 yr Thirteen Senses are amazing, and they did once say they like Coldplay. The Salt Wound Routine is my favourite, or maybe History, or Contact, or Follow Me. Actually they're all pretty great.
July 14, 200817 yr The band Contradiction has not taken direct influence from Coldplay into usage instrumentally, but lyrically they have some lyrics clearly influenced by such bands as Coldplay and Radiohead. (Contradiction is my band:laugh3:)
July 14, 200817 yr Anyone heard the song "everything sounds like coldplay now"? I don't necessarily agree, but their influence definitely shows up in up and coming indie-rock bands nowadays. Athlete, for example, follows a coldplay thread in some of their songs.

July 16, 200817 yr sum 41's "Pieces" is like a photocopy of the scientist. I also believe The Kooks once said that Coldplay are the best band in the world! Holy crap, you're right. I just listened to it for the first time, and it sounds exactly the same...
July 17, 200817 yr First two bands that come in mind are : Snow Patrol and The Fray. But I dont think that Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) ever said something like that.
