VLVODAAHF VS In Rainbows

Featured Replies

To guyy: I think it all boils down to peoples' personal tastes and what they connect to more. I could ask you just the same way why you like Coldplay so much. It's a matter of different opinions and different things that are attractive to people. Personally, I like the fact that Radiohead are always doing new things and they've had so many different styles over their career. Their songs have a lot of depth and everytime I listen to a track I hear something new. I find Thom's voice brilliant, not screechy, and admire how he can pull off so many different kinds of vocals in a single song. It's hard to explain to someone who doesn't feel the same way (ie my mother who despises RH with a passion).

Radiohead have had better albums than INR but VLV has to be one of CP's best albums.

Neither of them are the respective bands best work but both are unique artistic albums. If they came out both at once and the magic of Jigsaw and Bodysnatchers hadn't wore off I know id say Radiohead. Fact is I just bloody love a lot of the songs on VLV.

@ above, people like Radiohead because their lyrics are very intelligent, paint a picture, the singing is highly emotive and most Coldplay fans draw a distiction from that.

Here's a question for all you Radiohead superfans, because it sounds like there's a lot of you here: Why do you like their music so much?

Because, honestly, I could name a dozen reasons why I can't stand most of their songs. (Which I probably shouldn't do to avoid a flamewar.) But everyone else seems to love everything Radiohead's ever made, for really vague or unstated reasons. Why? What's so great about it? I see glowing reviews everywhere, including here; then I try listening to any of their popular songs and just hear a bunch of non-rhythmic noise and some guy screeching incomprehensibly. No way would I ever pay money for that. So why does pretty much everyone else?

Erm, its definately a hard question to answer, to pinpoint why you like someone's music. Factors i enjoy throughly about radiohead that i do not always find in others; that wonderful voice, he delivers lines in songs with such great emotion, whether its falsetto or sneering delivery. The structure of the songs, thom is just a great songwriter simply, from the more conventional simplicity of 'gagging order' and 'street spirit' to the weirder affairs of 'dollars and cents' and 'national anthem'. I just appreciate all the different twists and turns in the songs. I love that they have tried different things over the course of their albums, 'the bends' straight forward guitar fuelled affair which reveals some classic songs. 'amnesiac' with its moody, dark exterior which eventually reveals a warmth in the details of the song elements. I dont really know what else to comment on....this probably doesnt help at all  but it really is hard to explain.

seeing as i enjoy both albums i am going to listen again to both and then comment. havent listened to both in full in a little while.

^ I thought that EXACT same thing when i first heard there music. it was weird! it was like, weird fishes??? what the hell is this man singing about? I thought it was 20 kinds of terrible. Then, i basically adjusted to it.. I don't know, i love the music, his voice is really good. I can't really explain why... i'm a newbie at radiohead!

Thats what happened to me as well! I bought The Bends and Ok Computer once and put it on played a few tracks, didn't even like it. Then a couple of months later I stumbled across it and bloody loved it. Then I was Radiohead mad! In Rainbows, when I first heard it, it seemed amzing, out of this world, their best work, but it weared off and I haven't listened to Radiohead in a long time (mainly due to the fact I dont go on long bus journeys anymore, which I think is the best time to listen to music) and I listened to Coldplay even more, but now Im Guns N Roses mad:mad:

Yeah yeah! it's weird..... it's like all of the sudden you feel the urge to love them. it's like an out of no where addiction. I think the first song i really ever liked by them was All I Need because i stumbled across the video in Music on Demand (or something like that). But, I had to move away from Coldplay because i've been listening to them NON STOP sense Violet Hill came out. I was so bewildered on how Radiohead was good.... now the rest is history. (now the funny part about all of this is the fact that I started listening to Radiohead about the end of June. :laugh3:)

In Rainbows , a total classic. VLV is a good album but not quite as In Rainbows :(

In Rainbows but Viva La Vida is still a great album

i do like in rainbows, but i never really got the hype about radiohead

VLV.

I've probably listened to viva la vida for like 200 times since it's been released and never get tired of any song on it.

I really like radiohead, in fact, it is my second favorite band (behind coldplay).

for me, coldplay will always have the edge, but that's my personal opinion.

My best friend is my complete opposite: favorite band radiohead, 2nd coldplay!

At the moment, it's Viva La Vida.

"But In Rainbows has UP ON THE LADDER", I hear you cry.

Fair enough. Tie then?

argh it's always 2 votes apart!!

as much as I enjoy Radiohead, considering they released two of the best albums of the 90s, In Rainbows is good but very much overhyped. After the third song the material loses its uniqueness and its all a blend of the same thing. Im voting for VLV because I often crave VLV and just have to listen to it, on the other hand, I only listen to IR when shuffle decides i should. IR, i think, is radiohead's X&Y, the first month is was incredible but then it became quite boring and just meh.

In Rainbows, because it was my favourite album of 2007.

And I'm not sure Viva La Vida... is my favourite album of this year.

muahaha... time to sneak onto albie's account

okay.. just kidding... i don't remember who it was whose password was just "coldplay." :P

IN RAINBOWS IS WINNNNNNINNNNNGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
