my father wouldn't let me look right at it, I could only see it while using the paper trick.

well your dad is good... as you dont realise the sun can burn your eyes in seconds...

human instint normally kicks in to keep your eyes away from it !

i was thinking of doing that but im too lazy

I was stuck at work and see it directly but i did see what effect it had. It seemed like i was seeing the world through a filter. It had an interesting effect :)

I wish the eclipse had been visible from New Zealand.
