yeah, and everyone plays their best shows at MSG, or anywhere in NY

not necessarily

you think if we whine&bitch enough we can get them to stop @MSG in the fall???:)

Or maybe make a request with the Oracle...or does he only answer questions, not take request? haha it'd still be in the form of a question..."can Coldplay PLEASE play MSG?!?!???"

  • Author

Cooky, I allready sent about ten emails to the Oracle. I was looking at the calendar and maybe they could do it before the jersey concerts. i will let you and everyone know once i hear anything:rolleyes:

Really? LOL

It's more of the fact that its just a bigger market for shows. I wouldn't say everyone plays their best shows at MSG or anywhere in NY....

I guess everyone can say the same for "their" city....

They play the best they can everywhere, right?? ;)

Ok, I just went and asked the Oracle "Can Coldplay PLEASE play MSG?!?" So it was more begging than asking :blush:LOL

Until you have seen a concert at MSG, you haven't seen a concert. It is a right of passage and will blow your fucking mind:rolleyes:

Oh, I forgot, as of yesterday I have a Mole who works for WPLJ. coldplay and PLJ have a relationship (China Club Gigs) so she said she would try to get some info for me

Calm down, people. Of course they'll play NY. They'll probably be touring this album on ND OFF FOR THE NEXT 12-18 months - they can't play everywhere before Christmas!

You got your freebie concert at MSG and they'll be back sometime next year.

Have patience!

thank you Redgirl, i need to relax but it's killing me. the free concert was messed up cause even I, the biggest fan from NY, did not get to win a ticket. but i was truly blessed to win the vip to the today show (thanks Ian for the 20000th time)

im still waiting for NYC dates to get added. I just think its unreal that theyve put it aside for Giants stadium (or whatever its called). Until its _easily_ accessible via NJT (and yes theres a bus - and more importantly theyre working on making it way easy to get there), but seriously NJ is NOT NYC. New Yorkers want the best and MSG has great acoustics (interpol in the pit sounded f'ing amazing) - and Ive seen amazing shows at MSG this year - so lets add Coldplay to the list.

Granted - Id like it to be a repeat of the Cure. a 3 hour set of which nearly 40 mins was a greatest hits encore to which I nearly had a heart attack. One can hope ;) Im also hoping they play a month-long residency at The Bowery Ballroom. (yes ive been daydreaming a lot today).

Christa - btw - Matt Pinfield LOVES Coldplay and he's dj'ing on WRXP. He had an interview with them a few months back. Theyre promoting a lot of shows in NYC and doing some awesome stuff. They had a free VIP show with Supergrass where you got to meet the band, had a pre-show with them and 50 other people. It was way awesome. It was so successful theyre planning more.

And before supergrass came on - matt was playing tons of coldplay until gaz supposedly told him to turn it off. apparently gaz is not a fan of coldplay which nearly made me cry.

oh the station's latest - a day spent with the kooks touring around NYC on one of those sight-seeing buses. hehehehe. im in love with that station. and more importantly - i <3 Matt!

That is absolutely true!!!:smug: The very first concert I ever saw was at MSG, and now I'm spoiled forEVER. Of the big venues I've been too, it's def the best. Anyway...

I know lots of people ran to get tickets to Philly yesterday, and you were bummed out that you can't go 'cause it's your Mom's bday, but if it makes you feel better, I'm not going to it either. I decided if I go see Coldplay again, it's gonna be in MSG. If not this year, than maybe next year. I'll already get to see them 4 times (I know, crazy!) so it's time I got practical and start saving my pennies for next year of concerts. And like RedGirl76 said, they'll be touring for a while, so there's still hope they'll come back around here.

That said, I'm so glad Christa you've gotten all these "connections" lol. Definitely keep us posted if even a whisper of a rumor is heard:).

COLDPLAY are plotting a surprise album which could appear little more than a year after Viva La Vida conquered the planet.

The quartet already have the spine of the collection in place thanks to their super-productive recent studio sessions with BRIAN ENO.

And if CHRIS MARTIN, BERRYMAN, JONNY BUCKLAND and WILL CHAMPION follow up their new offering with a greatest hits collection they will have fulfilled all commitments to their record label, EMI.

That would pave the way for them to follow PAUL McCARTNEY and RADIOHEAD out of the door.

A source at the label said: “The Viva La Vida sessions were incredibly fruitful. They gelled brilliantly with Brian and recorded much more music than they could fit on one album.

“The majority of the follow-up is already in the can, though they will have to go back into the studio at some point to add a few more songs.

“Standard industry contracts tend to be for six albums, so if they provide some kind of compilation after their next album they will be free agents and able to renegotiate their contract or head out on their own.”

EMI was taken over by a finance firm last year and many of the artists signed to it at the time bitterly opposed the deal.

Macca and Radiohead have already walked while the management of ROBBIE WILLIAMS have expressed severe reservations about the new regime.

The formerly beardy pop knob even started a futile “strike” in protest.

Chris Martin, however, has kept a very tactical silence on the subject and where the band’s future lies.

But he has hinted that he wants to get new material out as soon as possible.

When discussing a collaboration with KYLIE MINOGUE that didn’t make the final cut for Viva La Vida, he let slip: “It will be on a record we will put out in 2009.”

But, with global titans such as MADONNA and JAY-Z forgoing multi-million-pound record deals with concert promoters, I wouldn’t be surprised if Coldplay do part company with their home in the next couple of years.

In order to record Viva La Vida, which was released in June, the group constructed their own studio in a disused bakery in North London.

The gap between their previous album X&Y and its follow-up was a whopping three years and the band are keen to reduce the time between albums drastically.

Their touring commitments run up until the end of the year – but they are likely to announce a string of new shows in Australia and the Far East soon.

All this points to a late summer release next year for Coldplay album number five, which is a very good thing.

New York shows need to happen, but only when I'm home and not away at stupid college! I would definitely be going to the NJ shows if I wasn't so darn far away!

Sorry for the frustration there, I think I am just going through a Coldplay withdrawal. ;)

:flutterby: Do you want me to talk them into coming to NY to do a show? :P
