Help from Boston, DC, Philly peeps

Featured Replies

Hi my name is Angie and I have a Jonny addiction. :P

I scheduled some vacation time to go to Toronto but the shows were moved, so now I have time off and Jonny is coming to your towns. :D

I would like to go to 2 of these shows. But which 2?

DC looks to be a go as it is in between the other 2.

So should I try for Boston/DC or DC/ Philly combo?

I need some tips on hotels, best way to get around in that city (cabs, subway etc) and just why I should choose your town.

DC/ Philly has the added advantage of different on sale dates.

Help me and I'll buy you a beer or something at the show.

I would highly recommend DC. The Grand Hyatt Hotel is no more than 3 blocks from the concert venue (Verizon Center), and there's also a Marriott hotel. Those are the two popular ones.

The area around the venue, called Gallery Place, is very nice, especially at night. There's restaurants, a very nice movie theater, retail stores, a Starbucks. Turn the corner and you're in Chinatown.

DC has a great, inexpensive, clean, fairly easy to understand subway system (http://www.metroopensdoors.com) which I use constantly. It'll take you anywhere worth going.

I couldn't tell you anything about Philadelphia or Boston, except that I'm going to the Philly show too.

you should go for a dc philly combo philly has a nice city center hotel called the shearton it has great views of the whole city. you can find this on priceline. Philly has a beautifully clean subway system called SEPTA. The venue is nice and if you get there at around 1 pm im sure you'll catch coldplay coming in. Lastly philadelphia is a beautiful city so if you get there early be sure to get a philly cheesesteak and to go see the liberty bell and rocky steps.

sush you :P

Boston hotels were the most expensive.

Quick DC question...Regan or BWI airports? Does the trains system go to each.

Amtrak from DC to Philly only $44...woot!

Angie, come to Philly. It's a great city. And maybe we can meet again.

And the Philadelphia international airport is very close to the venue...15 minutes or so. Maybe less. And I believe there are hotels near the airport.

Nevermind, I missed your post that read $44 for Amtrak. Much better.

you'll be realllyyyy missing out if you don't go to Boston! people come from all over new england and even canada for shows in boston which makes the crowd more intense than both of those two other shows. plus boston is the most exciting city on the east coast other than NYC and there is definately more to do there than in philly. there are a million nice restaraunts and a ton of nice hotels and transportation isn't an issue because there is a T (subway) stop right at the Garden and it is really easy to travel anywhere in the city. it may be a little out of the way compared to how close DC and Philly are but i really think if you don't go to Boston you will be missing out.

forget the American shows Angie. you want to go to England, baby!!

That means I would have to compete for tickets with all those people . :\

Get me some tickets woman!:laugh3:

As much as I'd love to meet you for a beer Angie, I know Boston is an expensive city.

Sort of depends how much time you can take right? I mean Boston is on a Wednesday and then DC is Friday, Philly Saturday.

I'd be temped to do the Boston/DC combo just to have the day inbetween for travel and recovery.

(then again I'm ancient and need my beauty sleep, lol)

they've both gone up!! in 24 hours, the Manchester one is £112 & the Liverpool £103. the Manchester one is only £16 more than face value (inc booking fees), so even with postage its cheap

£103 ain't bad Angie :wink3:

There's only 11 hours left on the Manchester one, I'm kinda tempted :stunned: :uhoh:

Got my DC ticket, now just need a Philly ticket on Monday. I am glad that I will not have to deal with the ticketbastard cunts, not that the live nation cunts are much better, but I frickin hate ticketbastard!

If youre staying in DC for a bit before the shows, DC has some other great music venues that are all metro accessible (granted some of the areas are a bit sketch). and the shows are pretty inexpensive compared to other cities. Matchbox is a great restaurant right near MCI center. E Street is a great theater on (well obviously e street) - one of the landmark indie theaters. theres lots to do there.

DC in general isnt known for having the best audiences (dont shoot me for those still down there - i went to a ton of shows there when i lived there) but im sure that wont prevent you from having your own good time.
