What's up with Coldplay and U2 competition?

Featured Replies

I know ive read some few articles indicating that they always go head to head in awardings... since coldplay came out... i know bono and martin are good friends

But it seems that the tension between the bands are really tight when it comes to awards.. even CM said that they place U2 on the wall as if in a boxing match...

U2 have pushed their album to be out in 2009 not in nov 2008 (if read it in an article yesterday) I have a guess maybe .....they dont want to compete with each other? Does u2 want to have their own year(2009) snce 2008 is obviously coldplays? iDK

There are four things you should know about Chris Martin:

1) He plays the media like a puppeteer with his puppets

2) Never take everything he says seriously

3) Never take everything he says literally

4) Some things he says a served with a huge dollop of sarcasm. Hard to detect sometimes but quite funny when you do.

Probably one of these is the answer to your question.

He keeps on saying how the band would disappear in awhoosh when they keep coming back all the time.... Maybe this is coldplays strategy to keep fans curious if their coming back or not then when theyre suprise album comes out they start buying it like fast! I would od that if they make break up rumors again... in fact they have again

I have to agree. I've never seen someone so consistent in winding up the media, and yet they take every thing he says as if its bible authority.

Andy Warhol Born Again..

Obviously, to remain in the spotlight you have to create mystery, controversy, etc. But besides that, motivation is always there, and Bono's a bit of a bragger about his band, claiming unabashedly that they are "The best band Ever." Coldplay is competitive, but I think they're trying to break the mold of seriousness, somewhat in a similar fashion as the Beatles did.. Apples & Oranges, like comparing apples and oranges..

But don't Coldplay release their next album next year as well?

Well, it didn't take Coldplay as long to release another album since X&Y, so since U2's last album, they have released two. That is quite an achievement. ^^

2008 is Coldplays year. But in 2009 we have Prospekts March. (Near as makes no difference 2009) and then a new album by Christmas. So U2 wont be completely alone that year either
