It sounds wonderful when he says "beautiful" in Yellow.

I have a theory that Coldplay's songs are some of the most sensitive modern songs around, and these are in turn reflected by its fanbase who generally are very thoughtful and deep people.

Didn't Chris Martin himself say something to that effect once?

Ya i agree that real coldplay fans are more deep and thoughtful people!

I was just reading some old posts from jan 2006, and people were saying that Chris's voice sounds horrible.

How are some people able to have a 30 yr career???

^ They don't know what they're talking about. We know it's nonsense ;)

I love Clocks live, when he sings the "nothing else compares" part. WOW. It gives me this adrenalin...I dunno...Also in Swallowed in the Sea, "What good is it to live?"

Of COURSE! Amsterdam! Just...everything. I truly think Chris Martin's voice and Coldplay's music make my world so much more beautiful! I'd go mad if I didn't have their music around!

See You Soon is so soothing. I fall asleep to it all the time. Beautiful.

 Great speech.

[no sarcasm intended]

Gosh when I hear Fix you and The Scientist Live I do get this physical blow in my stomach, i cant describe it, I think frostbitepanda described it prefectly;)

I agree. That was very well said Ale. ;) That's how I feel too.

Thanx guys :nice:

Chris has the only voice of ANY band that can make me cry!!...in a good way of course...it is just soooooo amazing!

well I wanted to share with you this beauty

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6sYvlQiEJ4&feature=related]YouTube - Coldplay-Yellow-Sessions @AOL[/ame]

I just thought of his voice in the song 'Gold In Them Hills', it's just amazing, I really wish he would sing the whole song, because the softness in his voice in this song is just, wow.

I love the moment in the song "x&Y", when he sings:"woooooooooooooooooooooooo" and this is really cooool. And the moment in "Twisted logic" when he says "you go backwards and THEN" it's just amazing!!!!!

Yep, finally a thread just for his voice. In general I'm a fan of good voices and Chris Martin's voice is so great, he has one of the best male voices I know. He can express everything: joy, pain, anger and even indifference. Not every singer is able to do this. Some always sound the same in my opinion and are anyway known as very good singer, for example R. Kelly, George Michael, Freddie Mercury, Jon Bon Jovi and so many more.

So I think Chris he is a very good singer, even if his voice does not always hit the notes live. To be on stage almost every day and giving interviews all the time is also not good for his voice. Remember his voice is not an instrument you can tune or replace. And his voice has changed over the last 8 years, when he was younger he sounded different than today, maybe he was better live but just because his voice was not

I really love Coldplay's instrumentals, for me it is the best aspect of Coldplay - but without Chris' voice the songs would not be the same. And also a plus: his british accent always shines through but it is not annoying, Robbie Williams is a bad example for this.

Best example:

The scientist - nobody can sing this song except of Chris and this time his singing carries the song, not the instruments. Not every song is dominated by his voice, he can also hold it back for example in almost all the songs of Viva la vida.

I also love his voice in Politik, a song in which instruments dominate the song but I was surprised how he was able to express with his voice the change of the song to its second level (2:53 - 4:05).

In Green eyes he does not sound as usual, that's also a great attribute of his voice; he can change his vocal tone.

High speed - again his voice supports the instruments to unfold the effect of the song - I adore his voice the whole song along but especially the second bridge (we've been living a life inside a bubble...) and of course the chorus.

Spies is a also a prove of his brilliant voice. The high notes at 3:03 -3:27 are amazing; he really expresses the panic, so great.

There are so much more songs I could name, but that's boring so I stop here :laugh3:.

Now there has to be a negative example I'm afraid, I just want to be objective.

I don't like his singing in the beginning of Fix you. It does not to fit to the instrumentals and he does not sound really honest as if he actually does not like to sing the song. It is getting better in the second half but the beginning is horrible.

I also have a few questions to you:

I love it when he sings together with someone else as in AROBTTH. Is it always Johnny who sings in the background?

Do you really think his voice was toned down with a computer on Viva la vida? I am not sure.

I thought that Guy usually sang with him....well for Viva La Vida anyway! I dont think that they are using computers...Coldplay is just to cool for that!!

I agree with practically everything everyone else has said... but I also absolutely love when he says "you really broke my heart" during The Hardest Part. I know it seems like there's nothing special in that line, but no matter how many times I hear the song- for some reason I'm always expecting for Chris to say "that was the hardest part" after he says "was letting go not taking part", and it's such a perfect surprise when he says "you really broke my heart" instead.

:nice:

Will is actually the one who sings with him most of the time. Guy joins in when that's not enough, and Jonny is their bass/baritone back up vocalist. 'Don't Panic' and 'Daylight' are the ones that come to mind.

Don't Panic is awesome example of Jonny and Chrissy's voice being ultima yay coupling of voices :nice:

^^hehe Jonny Chris couples

I thought that Guy usually sang with him....well for Viva La Vida anyway! I dont think that they are using computers...Coldplay is just to cool for that!!

I just read something like they are using computers for Chris' voice on VLV in this forum, and in parts of Yes his voice sounds extremely deep; so I'm still wondering.

I also would not expect something like that from Coldplay.

^ Not true

Chris + geeky dancing = tired Chris!

Tired Chris = Not-so-good-at-singing-Chris

I think Yes may have been dropped for this reason - when Chris was jumping around his deep voice simply was not strong enough, you can notice it a bit in live videos. When he was stationary recording it he could pull it off.

The Hardest Part, piano version

Words can't describe. This song is perfect... aaw
