non-album tracks that could make The Best Of...

Featured Replies

The title pretty much says it all. What non album tracks could you see the band putting on the eventual "best of/greatest hits" along side the mega hits like Yellow, Speed of Sound, Violet Hill...

So far i think that See you Soon off of the Blue Room EP and, from what i've heard of it live, Glass of Water of off the soon to be released Prospekt's March EP both have the potential to make the cut.

Possibly the live version of Moses of off 2003 as well...

your thoughts?

A "Best Of" EMI selection won't necessarily contain the best of Coldplay.

Just so you know.

I would like to see Such a Rush on such a list, eventhough I don't see that happening.

Studio recordings of Moses, Ladder to the Sun etc. would fit nicely on a 'Best Of'!

I would expect "See You Soon" and maybe "Bigger Stronger", and I'd love it if "Easy To Please" was on there but that seems unrealistic. But yeah, almost certainly something from Prospekt's March, and maybe a new song ("Lhuna" anyone?).

If they put "Death Will Never Conquer" on there it would make me chuckle. I do quite like that song.

See You Soon FOR SURE

Sleeping Sun

Crest Of Waves

Proof

Things I Dont Understand

The World Turned Upside Down

Glass Of Water

Off the top of my head... Bigger Stronger, See you Soon, Brothers and Sisters, Moses(live), How you see the world no. 2, maybe One I I Love or Gravity because everyone seems to like it so much.

This song just made me start thinking... See You Soon might seriously be one of the best songs ever. At least one of my favorites... :D. But I would add Gravity, definitely, Glass of Water, One I Love, Such A Rush, The World Turned Upside Down, Careful Where You Stand, Superstition, Death Will Never Conquer... jeez, the list just goes on and on!

do I have to mention again see you soon?

one I love, gravity, hmm what other b-sdies? oh yeah careful where you stand

Animals makes it or I won't buy from EMI anymore...

My favorites, sort of in order:

Lost?

See You Soon

Gold in them Hills

Sleeping Sun

A Spell a Rebel Yell

2000 Miles

Crests of Waves

I Ran Away

Don't Panic (Garden State version) - better than the album version IMO.

Probably See You Soon and One I Love

maybe Brothers & Sisters sneaks in there if it's a big greatest hits

thank's for this thread. I didn't know there was so many unreleased tracks from the albums. How many? one or two for each singles?

I found many singles with theses unreleased songs on ebay (with good promo cds too).

Most single have two b-sides , but believe me, there are a ton more when you consider safety, Brothers & Sister's and The Blue Room E.P.'s. As well as songs that were never released or properly recorded (Moses, Ladder to the Sun, A Ghost, Harmless, You Only Live Twice etc.)

Head over to the mutimedia section, and they should have a full list for you. Actually just see the list here. http://www.coldplaying.com/page.php?file=/html/tracksearch/index.htm

According to Coldplay, 42 tracks were trashed during X&Y sessions.

7 of them were released as B-Sides

Things I Don't Understand - Speed Of Sound

Proof - Speed Of Sound

The World Turned Upside Down - Fix You

Pour Me (Live at the Hollywood Bowl) * - Fix You

Gravity - Talk 7"

Sleeping Sun - Talk CD

How You See The World (live from Earls Court)** - The Hardest Part, What If

* Its studio version isn't known yet.

** It was frequently played during the X&Y tour, it is featured in the "How We Saw The World" video, which was planned for DVD released, but it was canceled (it is avaliable even in 1080p resolution, because it was broadcasted on the first HD channels). Its studio version is only know for a release in the "Help! A Day In The Live" charity album, and for its less-known famous original version, in which the first strophe is different.

So, there's 35 unreleased and unknown tracks.

It's about 3 LPs or 6-7 EPs.

Where the heck are these tracks?

the world turned upside down

see you soon

moses

viva la vida

yellow

amsterdam

AROBTTH

lovers in japan

shiver

talk

speed of sound

viva la vida

trouble
