Chapter 4

A Spring Day

She was waiting for Guy outside his apartment.

He pretended not to notice her.

She waited a few moments after he went in and then followed him into the building.

As she was walking down the hall to the elevators, Guy grabbed her from out of the shadows.

"Stupid bitch," he said, "What are you doing here?"

He flung her against the wall.

"What if someone sees you?"

His eyes were blazing with anger.

"I.....I just really wanted to see you," she stammered.

Guy grabbed her and kissed her hard before biting her lip.

She pulled away, wiping blood from her mouth.

"There was kind of a complication," she said.

"Just what kind of complication?" he asked.

"Don't be mad....but...the skinny one.....we gave him too much of the drug."

"And?" Guy asked

"And he's dead," she said.

Guy leaned close to her.

"What?" he asked, furiously, "What did you say?"

She was shaking as she said, "He's dead."

Guy slammed the wall behind him with his fist.

"Dammit!! I gave you one little job to do and you couldn't do it. What am I supposed to do now? He was

the singer in the band. What kind of band will we have now? Oh sure, Will thinks he can sing but that

was just some playing around shit. He didn't have Chris' range."

"I'm sorry," she said, quietly.

He looked at her with flashing eyes.

"That does me a hell of a lot of good now, doesn't it?" He told her through clenched teeth.

He slammed the wall by her head again.

She flinched.

"Are you afraid of me?" He asked. "Well, you should be."

"What about the other one.....the quiet one?" She asked.

Guy stood with his hands on his hips for a moment and seemed to be in deep thought.

Then he shook his head.

"Might as well kill him too."

She nodded her agreement.

"But see that you don't screw it up this time, huh?"

Chapter 5

A Spring Day

There was a knock on the door of the Bakery early the next morning.

Will opened the door to find the police detective.

"May we come in?" he asked.

Will looked at Guy. He was afraid of the worst.

"I am afraid we have some bad news about your friends," the policeman said.

"Two of my men found their bodies this morning just a few miles from the cabin."

"Oh no," Will said, putting his hands over his face and sitting down heavily.

Guy walked over and sat down beside him, putting his arms around him.

"I am very sorry,"the policeman said.

"But....but who did it?" Guy asked, with tears running down his face.

"And why?" Will asked, "Do you think it was the stalker or something else?"

"We don't really have any motive right now," he told them, "We will have to wait for the autopsies to find out the official cause of death.

Right now, it looks like they were just random victims of a rogue cult."

Will was rocking back and forth on the couch and Guy was trying to calm him down.

"Again,I am sorry," the policeman said, edging toward the door, "We will keep you informed."

"Thank you," Guy told him.

He was rubbing Will's back and telling him that everything would be okay.

"Would you like some water?" Guy asked.

Will shook his head.

"How about some brandy?" Guy asked.

Will shook his head.

"Are you sure?" Guy asked.

Will said, "Yeah."

"Why don't you let me call a doctor," Guy said, "He might be able to give you a sedative."

"Okay," Will said, "I could use one and you probably could too."

"He will sleep for a few hours now," the doctor told Guy as he closed the door to the bedroom.

"If he still needs something tomorrow, just give me another ring."

"Thank you," Guy told him.

"Are you sure I can't give you a little something just to help you relax?" the doctor asked.

"Thanks," Guy said, "But there are things that need to be done. Calls that need to be made and such. I need to be alert."

"Okay," the doctor said, "I certainly am sorry about Jonny and Chris. I can't imagine what kind of animals must have done this."

"Yeah," Guy said, "You just never know about people do you?"

"It's such a shame." The doctor said, shaking his head as he went out the door.

Guy shut the door, leaned on it and smiled to himself as he said, "You just never know about people."

I LOVE 'A Spring Day'!

Hah, me too Brooke. Me too. It's not, though. :D

CHAPTER 3, PART 2.

Will walked into his house and found his wife curled up on the couch, reading a book. She smiled brightly at him. "Hey, you."

He kissed her on the lips. "It happened again."

"What happened again?"

He rested his head on her chest. "The dream."

Will closed his eyes as she gently rubbed his head. "Well, honey, lots of people have re-occurring dreams."

"But why is this woman in them?"

She sighed, Will listened closely to her heartbeat. "Well, maybe it has to do with some woman you met. You cheatin’ on me?" she giggled at the thought.

Will looked up at her bright blue eyes. His heart sunk under his stomach.

His wife.

She had long, brown hair like the woman. About the same height and weight.

"What were you wearing when we met?" Will asked.

"Hm." she thought. "Oh, that dress my sister made me. The white one."

Will jumped back and stood quickly. "It’s you."

Caroline now looked worried. "What?"

"You’re the woman in my dream. You have to be. Who else?" He was sweating now.

His wife always stayed calm. Will knew she was one the one who always kept him balanced, otherwise he’d have a heart attack. "Okay." she said quietly.

"So, if it is, what could that mean?"

"I think something’s going to happen to Caroline." Will’s face reddened from his crazy words.

Jonny looked up at him slightly confused as he sat down on the studio couch.

"Lots of things have happened to Caroline." Jon chuckled. "She’s married to you."

Will rolled his round brown eyes and leaned forward. "It’s her in my dreams. I know it is. I had another one last night and her face was even more clear."

"What was that one about?"

"When my dad came back." Will was quiet.

Jon was silent for a few seconds two, knowing the story of his dad trying to reconcile with his mother, but ended up beating her to a pulp… yet again.

"Will, why do you think something’s going to happen to Caroline?"

"Every single dream happens in a time line." He explained. "I can see her face more clearly in every new dream, and I’m guessing…." his voice faded. "the next one’s going to be when my mom died."

Jon picked at one of his thumbnails. "Uhuh."

"I know it sounds crazy," Will said louder. "but I’m worried."

"Where is Caroline?" Jonny looked around.

"I locked her in the house."

"What?" His bright green eyes bulged.

Will sighed. "I didn’t lock her in the house, but I made sure she won’t leave."

"Okay." Jon said, a little worried about his friend. "Is Caroline going on any trips lately? Like a flight or road trip?"

Good question. Will thought for a few seconds. "She’s going to visit her mom in New York City soon."

"Maybe she should get on another flight."

"She’s going to leave me."

"Why?" Jonny furrowed his brow.

"Because her husband’s gone insane." Will walked out the door.

Chapter 6

A Spring Day

"Jonny's family wants to bury him in his hometown and so does Chris' family." Will said.

It was two days later and they were sitting in the Bakery working on press releases.

"That's good," Guy said.

But to himself he thought, "Shit, two freaking funerals I have to appear at and look sad."

"Both families would like us to speak at the services," Will said.

"Okay," Guy said.

But to himself he thought, "They wouldn't like what I would tell them about that pretentious diva and his goody two shoes best friend."

"I think there is going to be a public memorial too," Will told him.

"Hmm," Guy said.

But to himself he thought, "Damn more crying in public. I already went through two bottles of eye drops and that stuff isn't cheap."

"Have you heard anything from the cops?" Guy asked.

Will shook his head.

"They are trying to trace the drug that was used to kill them," he said.

Guy laughed a little to himself and thought, "Ha, good freaking luck with that."

"We may just never know what happened,"Will was saying, "Can you live with that?"

"I don't know," Guy answered.

But to himself he started to sing a little song, "Yippee.....ding dong the over-rated asses are dead."

"I may need your help with what I am going to say at the services," Will said.

"Sure," Guy told him, "Whatever you need."

"Do you have any idea what you will say?" Will asked.

"No, I will probably just speak from the heart when I get there," Guy told him.

But to himself he thought, "Chris is dead. Jonny is dead. Let's party."

"I sure do miss them," Will said.

"Me too," Guy said.

But to himself he thought, "It is so nice to have peace and quiet without Chris talking all the damn time."

"I won't have anyone to play those games with on the Playstation anymore," Will said.

"I could try and learn," Guy volunteered.

But in his mind he thought, "Not in a million freaking years."

"I never really thought about the future, "Will was saying, "But I certainly never thought we would end up like this..Jonny and Chris dead. You and I the only ones left."

He started to cry a little.

"It certainly wasn't what I had planned," Guy said, with mostly truth to it. He didn't plan to kill Chris.

Will was crying harder now.

Guy got up from his chair and walked over to comfort him.

He put his arms around him and said, "It will get better."

But to himself he thought, "Maybe I should have had them kill Will too."

:D Love it, jknc! Can't wait for more!!

Thanks, Brooke!

But I'll post a new chapter of Side Effects. Right after I eat.

It's been a long time since the lastchapter of Tidalwaves, so anyone knows the page where the previous chapters are so I can remember what happened????

thanks

I think it was 273, but here's all the other chapters for you. :D

CHAPTER 1

The humid air hit his rosy cheeks. At first, he didn’t really know where he was. His short legs were hanging high, and he was on some sort of chair. When he looked up, he knew exactly where he was. Bright blue and pink balloons were dancing in the soft wind, and some sort of joyful music was playing in the background. His relatives were all around him, talking, laughing, and waving softly at him. Then, he saw her. Her bright red locks were up in a loose ponytail, and her blue eyes were staring right into his. She was so thin. He always remembered that she was too thin. It worried him every single day that it would seriously affect her health. Ironically enough she ended up dying in a car accident.

Her clothing was very seventies, dressed in bell bottoms and a floral top. She walked right over to him and put her pale, fragile hands into his. "Happy first birthday, William." she whispered, kissing him on the cheek.

Will smiled brightly, loving to be in her presence. His tiny hands reached up to her face, stroking her soft cheeks. He loved her so much. She was so caring, so loving, and gave him enough love for two parents, since, he’d only had one. He looked around the room a little more. Everyone was there. Uncle Davie, his sister Beth who was five at the time, Aunt Marie, and all his cousins were accounted for. There was one woman in the very back corner of the room that he couldn’t make out. As hard as he tried, her face was just a blur, and people’s bodies kept getting in the way of her face. Her hair was long and brown, and she was wearing a white summer dress. He looked up at his mother, who was now joking around with her sister. When she looked down at him and saw his concerned face, she stopped her conversation. That’s what she always did, stopped everything for Will. "Hey, you okay?" She asked, tickling his finger softly.

Will kept staring in the direction of the woman, who wasn’t moving except for occasionally taking a sip of her drink. His mother looked where he was staring, then back at him. "W…what do you want a drink?"

He looked up at her with concerned eyes. This woman was starting to scare him. He didn’t know who she was, and his mother couldn’t understand. "A drink? Yeah, let’s get you a drink."

She stood up and walked over to where the woman was sitting. The woman had disappeared.

Will shot up into the dark. He was panting, beads of sweat pouring down his face to his beard. The picture of his mother smiling at him was frozen into his mind, making the blood drain from his face. Something stirred next to him. "Will? Hun is everything okay?" Caroline asked groggily.

He looked down at her, those blue eyes filled with concern. "Yeah. Yeah, I just had a really bad dream."

CHAPTER 2

"A woman." Chris said slowly. "In a white dress."

Will could feel his face getting red. "Yes."

"Attractive?"

"Chris." Will couldn’t help but chuckle.

The two of them were silent for a few seconds. "Are you sure it was your first birthday?" Chris asked. "That was kind of… a while ago. No offense, mate."

"I know. That’s the other weird part. I didn’t remember anything about my first birthday until then. God, my mom was so young." The image of her smiling at him was still fresh in his mind.

Chris sat back in his chair and picked at a bowl of nuts on the table. "I’m confused. Then how do you know that it was your real first birthday?"

Will stood up from the table, walked into the living room and picked up the photo album he’d been staring at all morning. Chris watched as he put it in front of him, and sat back down. "It looked just like that. Oh, and the woman isn‘t in those pictures. I looked."

Chris flipped through the old pictures, dust making a tiny explosion each time the pages smacked together. "Have you looked at these recently?"

"Not since my mother died." He said quietly, staring at a picture of her kissing Will on the cheek. "That was fifteen years ago."

"I really don’t know what to tell you." he grabbed another handful of nuts. "I guess this is what they mean when they say ‘going nuts’."

"Shut up."

About an hour after Chris left, Will couldn’t stop thinking about that woman in white, so he decided to call his sister Beth. "Hello?" She sounded just like his mother.

"Beth, it’s me." He bit his tongue.

"Oh, hey Will! Jenny put that down! No, no stop hitting your sister. No. Sorry, just a little busy." She panted.

Will smiled. "I don’t know how you deal with it."

"I don’t." She said. "I hand them over to Dave and lock myself in the bedroom. What’s up, hun?"

"I need to ask you a question, and it might sound weird."

She chuckled. "Try it."

"Do you remember my first birthday?"

There was a silence on the other line, and Will thought about immediately laughing it off. "Um." She thought for a few seconds. "Um, yeah, I think so. It was at the first house, right?"

"Right. Do you remember who was there?"

She sighed. "What’s this about, Will?"

"Can you just answer the question?"

"Aunt Marie, Uncle Davie." She paused. "Mom, of course."

"Uhuh." Will cut her off. "Anyone in a white dress?"

More silence. "N…nope, no I don’t remember a white dress."

"Are you sure?" He asked, feeling his stomach flip.

"Mhm."

"How sure?"

"Pretty sure." Will heard something bang and then screams. "No, David get back here! Don’t jump on the dog. Will, I gotta go."

And the line dropped.

CHAPTER 3, PART 1.

The road was rough, and Will could hear stones and sticks breaking underneath his bike tires. Trees surrounded him from all corners, as if they were a crowd of people urging him to soldier on. His feet were tingling, and his ankles burned while sweat dripped down his face.

Suddenly, he heard a crack underneath him, and the bike began to tip. Will's body was slammed onto the ground. After a second of being on the ground, the pain began to sink into his head, as a red liquid started to drop onto a stone in front of him. He couldn't move. He couldn't think. He couldn't cry. He just stared at that red liquid, slowly dripping off his head. Another few seconds went by when Will heard someone calling his name. When he turned his head softly, he could see his mother running up behind him. She was older now, and still as thin as a twig. Her bright red locks were starting to fade to red, and losing their curls. Her eyes were bursting with concern as she came to his side, putting her hand on the pain. Suddenly, everything went blurry as he was lifted into the air.

A soft beeping noise awoke Will in a bright room. He was dressed differently, sitting on top of a very uncomfortable bed. There was a needle in his arm as well, pushing some sort of clear liquid into his veins. The room was empty. When he looked through the clear glass doors, he saw a sea of doctors and nurses running around the room, completely ignoring him. His mother was in the middle, talking to a certain man in a white coat. Behind his mother was a woman. She had soft features to go with her long brown hair. She was wearing a white dress. Will froze. The woman wouldn't stop looking in his direction. Her face was blurred, but not as much as before. She had the brightest blue eyes he'd ever seen. The beeping began to get faster and faster, as a nurse came in and tried to comfort him. But a few seconds later, he was unconscious.

Side Effects

Chapter 7

At first, my eyes refused to open. I groaned and buried myself deeper under the blanket. Come on, get up. I remembered everything from yesterday, although part of me still hoped I’d dreamed the whole thing. Finally, I forced myself to take a deep breath and face the world. My first sight was Jonny’s face leaning over mine. I jerked and swore, startled. He leaned back, murmuring an apology. I scrambled to sit up, looking at him carefully. He was pale and the dark circles under his eyes were quite pronounced. He looked almost as bad as I had yesterday morning.

“Jonny? What were you doing?” I asked, my heart hammering with fear. It was obvious something was wrong, but I had no idea what it was. Had he stayed up the whole night? The thought made my stomach flip. “Oh god, were you awake the whole night?”

“You don’t remember?” he asked. There was audible relief in his voice.

“Don’t remember what? What happened?”

“Nothing. I just couldn’t sleep, so I came down here.” He ran a hand through his hair and stood up. “Are you hungry? I can make something if you want.” A bit dizzy with exhaustion, I stumbled to my feet and followed him into the kitchen. He looked back at me, surprised. “You’re hungry?” he asked.

“No…I just want you to tell me what happened.”

“Nothing happened.” he insisted. He grabbed the water kettle from the counter and poured out its contents into the sink.

“When was that water from?”

“Last night. I was gonna make tea.”

“Why didn’t you?”

“I was too tired.” He put the thing back on the counter and moved to the fridge. I followed him with my eyes, trying desperately to remember anything that had happened last night. I came up with absolutely nothing. Jonny pulled some butter out and took a muffin from a basket. He offered me one, but I shook my head and dragged my gaze to the clock. It was ten thirty already. The hospital had said to be back as early as eleven or as late as eight or nine in the evening. So I had time, but I also wanted to get the results as early as possible. I was terrified of what they would be.

Jonny caught me staring at the clock. “What is it?”

I swallowed nervously. “The results…of the tests.”

“Oh.” Jonny whispered, sinking into a chair. “Now?”

“Well, eleven.” Jonny, completely forgetting his food, looked up at the clock. “But I can go later.”

“No…no, we’ll go now.” He got up and looked around as if in a daze. “I’ll get changed…do you have another batch of clothes?” I shook my head. “Do you want to get one?”

I shook my head again. “I’ll just go home after anyway.” Jonny nodded and told me to wait a second as he disappeared into the living room and down the hallway. I rubbed my forehead, frightened by how quickly everything was moving. Sooner rather than later, Jonny was back in the kitchen with his car keys.

They jingled as he stuffed them into his pocket; it was a normal, everyday sound. “Are you, ahh, ready?” For a moment, I was nonresponsive. Then I adjusted my shirt around my waist and nodded. “You’re gonna be fine.” he said. Little did I know, he wasn’t saying that just to reassure me. He was saying it to reassure himself.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

“Well, that’s good. Isn’t it?” said Jonny, leaning against the hood of his car. I stood on the other side, the sun shining in my eyes and making me squint. I shrugged and nodded, still fingering the door handle. Jonny hadn’t unlocked the door yet, which was making me anxious. He was only doing it because he wanted me to talk. “Isn’t it?” he repeated.

“Yes, it’s good.” The results of the labs had been excellent, really. No STD’s or infections of any kind. I guessed Eddie had used a condom or something; safe sex was important. But that also meant they hadn’t discovered any definitive DNA evidence to go to the police with. For me, though, it didn’t matter. I had reminded them that I wasn’t going to file a report.

Jonny finally unlocked the door, but neither of us moved to get in. “Well…where do you want to go?”

“I don’t know.”

“We could…” At that moment, my cell phone rang. I was startled by the sudden noise; I had forgotten I was even carrying it.

I looked down at the caller ID. Oh, shit. Will. I looked up at Jonny as I answered the call.

“Hey, Guy.”

“Hey, man. What’s up?”

“Well, Chris was wondering if you could come up to the Bakery to work on a new song he just thought of. I know,” he said, his voice lowering, “…I know you don’t want to be bothered, but…”

“Are you there now?” I asked.

“Yeah, but we can’t seem to get a hold of Jonny, so if you’d rather wait for him, I totally get it…”

“Jonny’s with me.” I muttered.

“Oh. Then, d’you guys wanna come over?”

“Jon?” I asked, putting the phone down a moment. “Will’s asking us to the Bakery. Apparently Chris had some sort of musical epiphany.” I tried to make my voice sound as normal as possible for Will. Jonny looked unsure, and for good reason. I really didn’t want to go either, but for how long could I avoid band functions? I nodded at him, and Jonny returned it. “Okay, mate.” I agreed, speaking to Will once more. “We’ll be there.”

WE ARE DONE!!!

just some editing and then I'll post it

Even Before I Sleep

Part 1

“JONNY!” a voice yelled from behind my door, the owner of the voice pounding heavily on the door. It was nearly midnight, and I had been in the living room, relaxing and reading a book when I was startled by the sudden surge of noise. “Jonny, please, let me in!”

The person's tone sounded very urgent and frightened, so I got up as quickly as I could. I threw open the door, revealing the tall, lanky, curly-haired man I knew as my best friend.

“Chris?” His face was extremely pale and gaunt, his eyes were teary, and he sounded as though he was out of breath. “What's wrong?”

“Jonny, can I stay with you tonight? Please?” I'd never seen him more scared-looking in my life.

“Yeah, come in,” I said, moving over to allow him to enter the room. He immediately walked over to the couch, sitting down and resting his head in his hands. “What's wrong?” I asked again, taking a seat next to him.

He wouldn't answer, no matter how many times I asked him. He refused to say anything at all, merely keeping his head in his hands and shaking his head whenever I asked a question.

“You know what? I'll make some tea, OK? That might make you feel a bit better. And then maybe you'll answer me.” He lifted his head up and folded his arms tightly across his chest.

“OK,” he whispered. I walked into the kitchen and began to make the tea. I also found a bar of chocolate in my fridge and figured that he'd appreciate that, too. Carrying the bar and a cup of tea, I made my way to where Chris was sitting, still in the same position he'd been in when I left.

“Here you go,” I said, handing him the tea and the chocolate. He took both, making sure not to hit the hot cup with his hand. As he pulled the cup towards his mouth to take a drink, I noticed that he was shaking a considerable amount. I really wanted to know what had happened to make Chris like this. Being the concerned friend I am, I decided to ask one more time. “What's wrong, Chris?”

His eyes widened as he turned to me. He opened his mouth, but didn't speak for quite some time. “They...” he began. I thought I'd finally gotten him to talk, but almost immediately after he turned away again, not speaking another word.

“Who?” He shook his head again. I was annoyed that he refused to answer, but I was also really worried. Chris was the most talkative person I knew, so something horrible must have happened for him to not want to speak. “Right, if you're not gonna talk, then I'm just gonna go to bed. I'll get you blankets and stuff so you can sleep out he-”

“No!” he yelled, grabbing my arm, a look of terror emerging on his face.

“...No?”

“Can you stay out here with me?”

“Why?”

“I don't want to be alone... what if they find me?”

“Who? Who's gonna find you?” Unsurprisingly, he shook his head.

“Please, stay with me? I feel much safer with you here.”

“Fine, I'll stay. I'll just get the stuff now.” Chris let go of my arm, and I stood up and walked down the hallway to the closet where I had a few spare blankets and pillows. I grabbed a blanket and pillow for each of us, and as I turned around I nearly crashed into Chris. “What the hell are you doing?”

“I didn't want to be alone, so I followed you.”

“You couldn't even be alone for a minute?”

“No,” he said quietly.

“Chris, will you please tell me what happened?” I asked, staring into his eyes. He looked so scared and helpless.

“I... I can't. I want to, but I just can't... I really want to... but I can't.”

“Why not?”

“Jonny... what they did... I...” He stared at the ground and started twitching. He appeared to be in some sort of trance.

“Chris? Chris?” I threw the pillows and blankets onto the floor and grabbed his shoulders. “Chris, snap out of it! Come on, please? CHRIS!” I yelled, and I began to shake him. After a few seconds he seemed to come back to reality.

“Jonny...” He wrapped his arms around me and put his head on my shoulder. I could hear him crying.

“Chris, it's OK. You're with me now, you're OK.” I let him hug me for a few more minutes, my shoulder soon soaked with his tears. “Come on, I think it's time to sleep now. Maybe in the morning you'll be better. And you can tell me what happened, yeah?”

“I'll try,” he sobbed. “I really will, but I'm not making any promises. Jonny, what they did...”
