CHRIS: Tuna fish. It’s an amazing invention. It’s fish in a can, with some water. Quite tasty.

JON: Your stupidity amazes me.

Chris looks shocked. CHRIS: Well that’s just mean. Hey, my birthday’s in two days!

Jon sighs. JON: Happy early birthday.

CHRIS: Thank you. You know what you should get me?

JON: What’s that?

CHRIS: Tuna fish.

Jon slams his hand on his notebook and chuckles. JON: What is with your obsession with tuna fish?

Chris looks up with a dreamy face. CHRIS: I honestly don’t know. Maybe I should write a song.

JON: Why don’t you do that.

Chris walks over to the piano, sits down, and plays a key. CHRIS: Tuna, oh tuna fish!

JON: Okay, we need to get some work done, or Phil’s going to be pissed.

CHRIS: Just give him some tuna, he won’t mind.

JON: What is wrong with you?

Chris grabs a random can of tuna out of his pocket and opens it. CHRIS: Come on, just try it!

Jon looks puzzled, but he wants to see what all the fuss is about, so he takes a bite. His face lights up. JON: Ey, this ain’t too bad. Ain’t to bad at all!

Chris grins from ear to ear. CHRIS: I told you!

Chris and Jon sit at the piano and begin the song ‘Tuna Fish’ again.

Just to keep you updated...Volume 3 of 'No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground' will be put up TOMORROW! So look out for it! The next part of 'Will's Secret Diary' will also be published this weekend, I am still deciding whether or not it will be the last part so if it is, I'm going to make a spectacular ending!

'No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground' will be Looong. I have got a story sorted out but I am not quite sure how I long it will take. I would also eventually like every characters interpretation of each key moment in the story (So diary entries on the same day). So far the story has really focused on Phil, Guy and Chris. Johnny is a key part also but he hasn't been referred to AS much. The next few volumes will bring out more of a story to Will, he hasn't had much of a story of his own but he is going to and it will be a big shocker! There is also lots more twists and turns for the others as well as some more characters- YES! More, you will see some by the mysterious 'Ben' and Phil's girlfriends/wifes. I really hope you are enjoying this story because it is so fun to write! I'm sorry if some of you are lost :(, but thats kind of my aim, but if you read it ALL,you should figure it out! ;)

Thanks,

You know, you could have just put it up tommorow and not gone on as if you had a fan club waiting or something.

And DO YOU SIGN YOUR NAME IN REAL LIFE?

It's not the "Simon's Fanfiction" thread, it's a community thread, Simon. I just got quite pissy because you made a large post about something that could very easily be said in one sentence... sorry 'bout that.

All you had to say was "The next volume will be available tommorow, oh and from now on they're going to get bigger in size". I'd only suggest posting big updates about future storylines if it were more distant to the release date of said piece, not the day before :P

Maybe it's the nasty gum inflamation talking though. It's been hurting all goddamn day and the dentists, they do NOTHING in the way of pain relief.

It's here! The beginning of my new 8-chapter Coldplay story! It's a mob story featuring shocking revelations about the band's behind-the-scenes lives that you may have never suspected. Indeed, I can safely say this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever written, so you expect to find anything truly emotional or thought-provoking, please look elsewhere. Some parts get a tad brutal, but I'll post warnings for those, and there's none of that in the first chapter (most of the story is complete; just need to rewrite a few parts).

Enjoy. :D

CHAPTER 1: SPIES

Rating: PG

10:20 A.M. Coldplay has come hot off yet another awards show, where they were typically robbed of their rightful awards due to the voters being bribed and/or idiots. They are now aboard their private jet to the next prime time awards show and are rehearsing for its live performance.

Chris: “There’s a wild wind blowin’....”

Will: “…down the corner of my street....”

Jonny: “…every night there the headlights are glowing…”

Guy: “Hey stewardess, can I have a refill of Pepsi?”

Chris: “That’s not part of the song, Guy.”

Guy: “I’m dehydrated. I can’t sing when I’m dehydrated.”

Jonny: “I’m sick and tired of that excuse, Guy. You’re always dehydrated.”

Guy: “Oh yeah? Well, what about our truce where I don’t reveal your scandalous camera phone photos I discovered of someone if you don’t insult me?”

Will: “Why don’t you two take your hissy fit into the back room?”

Chris: “Yeah, I’d actually prefer it if nobody saw me try to convince Will to fulfill my dreams by becoming a flamboyant, homosexual drummer who wears outrageous clothes and says outrageous things.”

Will: “Wait, what?”

Jonny: “Okay, fine. But I’m warning you that we might not have a bassist anymore when I’m through. Let’s duke this out like men, Guy.”

Guy: “Oh, you’re gonna get it. I’m going to make you look like Robert Plant, that’s for sure.”

Chris: “Have fun!”

Will: “Outrageous clothes? Are you mad?”

Jonny and Guy walk behind the curtain into the back room, turn into the lavatory, and lock the door.

Guy: “Whew, that was pretty close.”

Jonny: “Yeah, we’ve gotta be careful about what we say around Chris.”

Jonny takes out his cell phone and turns it on, which begins blaring Viva La Vida.

Guy: “Shh! Turn that thing on Silent!”

Jonny: “I’m trying! There! Headquarters wants an update on our location ASAP.”

Jonny dials a twenty-digit long-distance number.

Jonny: “Hello? Headquarters? This is Jonny Buckland. May I speak to the boss? What’s that? Secret password? What secret password?”

Guy: “You weren’t at the last meeting, Jonny. The password is ‘Amsterdam’.”

Jonny: “Amsterdam. Now may I speak to the boss? Thank you.”

Voice: “Hello? Is that you, Mr. Buckland?”

Jonny: “Indeed it is, Boss. I’m here with Mr. Berryman.”

Guy: “Tell the boss I was a good minion!”

Jonny: “We are currently en route to London, hot off another crappy awards show.”

Boss: “Excellent. Have you retrieved the rare china?”

Jonny: “We had to settle for a few golden pots and maces. Any longer and Chris would have gotten suspicious.”

Boss: “Very well. Report to headquarters immediately upon arrival.”

Jonny: “Yes, Boss.”

Jonny hangs up the phone

Guy: “What did the boss say?”

Jonny: “Meeting upon arrival. Now pretend to be bruised and wailing in pain so that Chris and Will think that we actually fought and you got the tar beaten out of you.”

Guy: “Ooh! Ow! GAH! Enough! Uncle! OOF! Not the wedgie! NOT THE WEDGIE! NOOOO!!!”

Chris: “Looks like you two got your hissy fit sorted out.”

Will: “Can you believe this maniac? He seriously wants me to drum in an extravagant fashion in a hot pink button-down!”

Jonny: “I think we’d all like to see that, Will.”

Guy: “Let’s just get back to rehearsal.”

Chris: “Have you learned your lesson, Guy? Or do you need another five minutes in time-out?”

Guy: “Yes, I have learned not to whine about not being able to perform because of inane reasons since I am the eye candy of the band and am the cause of half our ticket sales and will promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.”

Chris: “I don’t know if I felt enough sincerity in that. Whatever, let’s pick up at Verse 2. Oh love, don’t let me go…”

And the jet continues onwards toward London, with nary a peep from Guy or Jonny. Eight hours later, the plane descends in London.

Chris: “Hurry up, gentlemen! Tell the roadies to pack the bags and get moving!”

Jonny: “Hold on a second! We had to find an extra barf bag for Will.”

Chris: “Tell Will that we have ladies to see and places to visit that sell outrageous rainbow suits.”

Will: *gagging* “Just a bit! I think I’ve got another one coming! Urf!”

Chris: “Oh, for crying out loud....”

Guy: “No, you’re crying out loud. You’re all crying out loud.”

Chris: “What the hell, Guy?”

Jonny: “Guy apparently got a little trashed during the final few hours of the flight. I told him that wasn’t grape juice, but did he listen? I should probably take him home.”

Will: *still gagging* “You guys go on without us. I’m gonna be in here for a while.”

Jonny: “Thanks, Will. We’re going to be fine for the night. Isn’t that right, Guy?”

Guy: “Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do!” *indistinguishable gibberish*

Jonny: “Atta boy, Guy. Now get in the van.”

A mysterious black van pulls up to the airstrip, and upon a wave goodbye, Jonny hops inside and drags Guy in by the legs. The van departs into the black of the night.

Chris: “See you tomorrow, boys! You alright in there, Will?”

Will: “Are they gone yet?”

Chris: “Yes, Will. Yes they are.”

Will: “Excellent. Pretending to vomit convincingly is harder than it sounds.”

Chris: “I contacted Base during the awards intermission and sent them the electronic records of every performer there. Nobody suspected a thing. And Jonny and Guy still remain completely oblivious to our plans.”

Will: “What fools! While we return to Base, those two are probably getting hammered with some floozies downtown. Call the boss and report our position.”

Chris: “On it. And...by the way, I wasn’t kidding about that flamboyant, homosexual stuff earlier, you know.”

Chris turns on his cell phone, which begins blaring Ode to Deodorant.

Will: “Dude…NOT cool.”

Chris: “Hello, Base? This is Chris Martin, a.k.a. Starfish. Will Champion and I have landed and are awaiting orders. Mmm hmm? Yes. Right. Gotcha. Starfish out.”

Will: “Well? What do they want now?”

Chris: “Come, Will. The Don wishes to see us.”

In mere moments, a black limo pulls up to the airstrip. Two mysterious men step out, and both Chris and Will are escorted inside. The limo drives off into the heart of town….

....Meanwhile, the van carrying Guy and Jonny has pulled into an underground building.

Jonny: “We have arrived, my friend. Flawless impersonation of a chronic drunk, by the way.”

Guy: “Thank you. Now I do believe we have some business to attend to.”

Four bandmates. Two conspiracies. One giant mystery. Where exactly are they each headed, and more importantly, what higher power is at work here?

TO BE CONTINUED…

No problem! Take all the time you need!:)

Since it's being put off, however, I may as well post Chapter 2 of Coldfellas so we can keep the fanfic train rolling. For you Scorsese fans, this one has hints of The Departed. We have a few "crossovers" here, but note that their roles will be minor, as this is a Coldplay fanfic at heart.

CHAPTER 2: WHITE SHADOWS

Rating: PG

The black limo carrying Chris and Will heads into a garage leading beneath a giant tower, rolls around a corner, and pulls to a stop. The two chauffeurs step out and open the back door, letting out Chris and Will.

Agent 1: “Please step through the building door, sirs.”

Chris: “Thank you, gentlemen. There may be a bonus in it for you if you can send a memo to the wife and kids regarding a decent excuse for my absence.”

Agent 2: “Will do, Mr. Martin. Please proceed with Mr. Champion into the secret meeting room.”

Agent 1: “On that note, Mr. Champion, your friend has informed me that you wish for a fresh new pair of shorts that no straight man would ever be caught dead wearing.”

Will: “Tell this ‘friend’ that I’ve seen his wife naked.”

Chris: “WHY YOU…”

Will: “In pictures only!”

Chris and Will, now decked out in black suits, walk down a lengthy and cold corridor, opening the door at the end on the left. There, three other men are seated at a large round table. They are as follows:

1) Thom Yorke – By day, Thom is a chick magnet. His shows bring legions of ladies drooling at his feet. But by night, Thom is an unruly assassin, who rules by either the bullet or blade – whichever the scenario at hand best warrants. Chris often becomes sweaty in his presence and says stupid things.

2) Brandon Flowers – The one American in the group, Brandon has spent the past 15 years in the dark working on secret projects, such as becoming an obsessive geek who hacks weapon information of foreign countries and has become a master at World of Warcraft.

3) Matthew Bellamy – Matthew is a dark character. Though not “emo”, per se, he tends to keep his business to the shadows and he absolutely hates being in broad daylight. Some say he is secretly a vampire, while others just assume he took Twilight a bit too seriously.

Chris: “We have returned, my good chums.”

Will: “Chris and I have successfully infiltrated the information database of award winning western-artists and have redirected all records to our systems.”

Thom: “Good work, gentlemen. The secret mob of Politik, Inc. welcomes you back.”

Brandon: “Indeed. I have already started work on re-routing the database to the center control motherboard via a fiber-optic Ethernet network, courtesy of this uber new patch I created that gives me a nerd-gasm when I think about it too hard.”

Chris: “That’s nice. Has the Don arrived yet? Because if not, Will has an appointment with the dressing room.”

Will: “Please, Chris, not around the other guys.”

Chris: “Oh, silly Willy. Fans are tired of you not doing anything creative with Death Will Never Conquer. What you need is some pizzazz! Some flashiness! Something that will make even the men in the audience turned on!”

Matthew: “So Chris, I take it this means you’re over that Jonny fellow?”

Chris: “What the hell are you talking about?”

Thom: “Come on, Chris. Don’t pretend like you haven’t been singing ‘Go, Johnny, Go’ in the hallway and then changing all the lyrics into sexual material.”

Chris: “I can’t believe you guys are still talking about that stupid rumor. I’m loyal to Gwyneth and my only remotely homosexual desire at the moment is watching Will put on a fruity get-up, and even then, it’s not like I’m going to grope him. I’m merely going to play footsies with him and then tickle his toes with my tongue.”

Will: *blank stare at Chris*

Chris: “Besides, I have no idea what Jonny even does at night. He suddenly vanishes mysteriously, in a similar fashion to Will and I. Wonder if he’s on to something.”

Will: “Relax, Chris. Jonny and Guy may be our bandmates, but in the real world, they are clueless chumps who we have successfully fooled into furthering our cause.”

Brandon: “Psst! I sense a disturbance in the force! The Don! He approaches!”

The door suddenly swings open, with a dark figure in a trench coat and a black hat walking through. The man is a much-familiar face to Chris and Will.

Chris: “Good evening, Phil.”

The Don, a.k.a. Phil Harvey, a.k.a. the 5th member of Coldplay, sets his hat on the table.

Phil: “It’s good to see you again, Chris. You too, Will. I take it the operation was successful?”

Will: “The operation was flawless, sir. The only minor hitch occurred when our idiot bassist knocked over a marble statue, jeopardizing our opportunity with a potential distraction. But he’s so good-looking that nobody at the ceremony cared.”

Phil: “So I see. I appreciate your efforts, boys, and shall reward you well. But I have received cryptic reports that our secret mafia organization may be in danger.”

Chris: “What is it, Don? Trouble with the police?”

Thom: “If it is the police, I’ll gladly have them whacked.”

Phil: “Gentlemen, for years, we have ruled London’s underground with an iron fist, overseeing all black markets and conspiracy killings. But word has it that we may not alone.”

Will: “You mean there is a rival mob in London?”

Phil: “That’s precisely what the signs point to, but I’m looking more into it. They call themselves Green Eyes, Inc. How a similar organization to Politik, Inc. has remained off our radar for so long is a mystery, and whoever these cold bastards are, we must consider all suspects a threat to our business.”

Brandon: “I shall upgrade our spy programs immediately. It’s a mere matter of changing the spyware destinations from women’s changing rooms to corporation strongholds.”

Chris: “But we still need those! How else are we gonna find the outright girliest fashion examples for Will? I’m not looking through Vanity Fair! No way, no how!”

Phil: “Gentlemen, whoever these sneaky Green Eyes assholes are, we must uncover their motives quickly. If we do not eliminate them first, I fear they will eliminate us.”

Phil, Chris, Will, and the three other gentlemen – the underground mafia known as Politik, Inc. – devise their plans regarding information about a potential rival mob.

3:00 A.M. The city now sleeps, except for the assorted bars where all the cool people are living it up. On the opposite side of town, Jonny and Guy have been dropped off in an industrial basement, with a suitcase of priceless artifacts in tow.

Jonny: “Here we are, Guy. Only a laser scan of a face as handsome as yours can give us access to the secret tunnel.”

Guy: “You know, Jonny, sometimes it’s hard being so pretty.”

Jonny: “What do you mean exactly?”

Guy: “It’s just that…I can have any girl in the world that I want, and that basically ruins all the fun of the romantic process. It’s not like I can settle on just one person. Not like you and…him…”

Jonny: “Don’t mention him, Guy.”

Guy: “I know you’re hurt, Jonny. I know how you feel that you can’t tell him your secrets – about how you’re actually a low-profile, high-class mafia mastermind and all. But you’ll find a way.”

Jonny: “Now’s not the time to think about such things, Guy. Just stick your face into the scanner already.”

Guy: “Very well, then.”

Guy walks up to a computerized wall and looks into a glass screen. The computer begins buzzing and authorizes entry upon scanning Guy’s face. The two then head through the doorway.

Jonny: “Word has it that the Boss has been in a secret meeting and will be returning to headquarters shortly. In the meantime, we should both head to the lounge.”

Guy: “Indeed. After being on this secret mission for so long, it sure feels good to be back at Green Eyes, Inc.

Well, I'm going to make this the last chapter of Sick Days of Coldplay, because I can't think of anything to do with the rest of the story. I'm writing this whole thing in the post box as I think of it, so let's see what happens. :D

----------------

Guy turned the page of his photography book, his brow furrowed in concentration.

"What kind of photos are those, Guy?" asked Jonny, coming up behind him.

"Oh, um, you know...nature and stuff."

"Ah, of course. Naked women are a huge part of nature."

Chris laughed, simultaneously spitting out a large mouthful of tea. Will jumped back with an annoyed yelp. "God!"

"Eh...sorry, Will." muttered Chris, still trying to hold back his laughter.

Guy was trying to defend himself. "It's only one picture in the whole book! See?" He was waving it under Jonny's nose. "There's only one girl!" Jonny grabbed the book and flipped through it, a smile on his face.

"Guy's telling the truth, there is only one naked girl. The rest of the photos are naked men."

"JONNY!"

"Haha, sorry. I'm joking, I'm joking."

Will laughed as well, forgetting that he had just taken a little shower with Chris's tea. Guy grabbed his book back, looking sour. Jonny patted him on his dark head before sitting on the couch next to him. Chris uncrossed his legs and stretched them out instead, nudging Will with his toe.

"I'm so glad we're better. I don't think I could have taken another hour in that hospital."

"Yeah. It was pretty annoying." agreed Will, yawning. Chris smiled cheekily.

"I'm the one who kept taking your sodas." he giggled.

"WHAT? I thought it was Guy!"

"I told you it wasn't me!" screeched Guy. "Thanks a lot, Chris!"

"Chris, the soda was all I had to look forward to!"

"Sorry, sorry..."

"Yeah, well, it's too late now isn't it?" Will snapped, frowning.

"Easy, kids. I'm going to get some crackers...don't fight while I'm gone." instructed Jonny.

"Oh! Jon! Get me some soup?"

"Make it yourself!"

"Okay, fine. Guy, get me some soup?"

"You talkin' to me?"

"Will?"

"Nope."

Chris chewed his tongue, deep in thought. "I'll buy you some six packs of beer."

While Will was considering the offer, Guy hopped off the couch. "One soup, coming up." he said as he ran into the kitchen. Will turned to Chris, who was wearing a smirk.

"Are you really going to buy him the beer?"

"Oh, Will. What sort of person would I be if I didn't?"

They laughed, just grateful to be feeling well again.

Time for the cute picture to tie up the story!

OH! OOHHH! I-i gotta write one! OK..ok...ok...&*catching breath*

---------------------------------------------------

Kittens [part 1]

ITs beautiful saturday night...not a cloud upon the starry sky. Chris, Jonny, Guy, and Will are heading back to the bakery, driving in a slim silver car. Chris is driving...Jonny is in the front next to Chris and Will n' Guy are in the back...

Chris: That interview was great guys, we were all together and In a good mood, just people like to see.

Jonny: Yeah, it was great.

Guy: I think it was the best interview in Coldplay history.

There is a silence...

Chris: Have you guys seen that new movie thats in theatres?

Guy: Excuse me but there is only 1 guy here!

Will: Are you saying that I am a girl?

Guy: No your just not the guy! I'm the guy!

Jonny: The Guy?

Guy: Yes! I'm the Guy!

Chris: Jonny do you see that in the road...it's not moving out of the way...

Jonny and 'the' Guy: Chris stop! Stop the car! Brakes!

Chris makes a stop immediatly just inches from hitting the unknown creature...Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will jump out of the car to see what they had come close to hitting...

Will: What the hell could that...be?

Chris walks over to the creature and dared to pick it up...

Chris: Omg! Its sooo CUTE! Look at her! Isn't she cute?

Chris picks the kitten up and faces it towards Guy,Will, and Jonny...

Will,Guy,Jonny: Uhmm...yeah sure...

Chris: Oh come on... you gu- I mean you...people know shes cute...

Jonny: You don't know where she has been or if it has rabies or a flesh eating virus or something!

Guy: What if it's gay?

Chris: You peoples are being crazy, it's not gay and it certainly does not have a flesh eating virus!

Will: What are we going to name her?

Jonny: Chris, why don't you name her, your getting to like her.

Chris: Hmmm... let's call her...Kitty!

Guy: That seems to suit her.

Chris: Ok Kitty, lets take you to the Bakery...

Kitty: Meow.

They all hopped back into the car and Kitty came into the back and sat on Will ...

Kitty: Meow...

Guy: Will...someone likes you...

Will: ...shut up Guy...

The boys and Kitty have arrived at the bakery and are just coming into the main room...

Kitty: Meow.

Chris (to Kitty): Now we are going to find you a bed and some food and something to drink, ok?

Jonny: I'll get cat food

Jonny walks straight out the door and comes right back in... With cat food of course...

Chris: Where'd you get that bag of c-

Jonny: It's Phil's but he never had a cat...

Guy: Then why would he have cat food?

Jonny: I 'dunno,

here is part 1

I wrote a fanfiction, not sure if it's any good...

Note to read beforehand: sorry if I’m offending Guy fans by making him seem slightly undesirable in this story. It was hard to try and write romantic stuff about him since I only see him as “cute little Guy“, and not “hot sexy Guy.”

also for the pervs: there’s not a lot of perviness in this story so.. move on if that bothers you.

I heard the Escapist start to play, and I peeked out of the car window to see if the boys had left the stage yet. Sure enough I saw Chris running down the long corridor towards the black vans. Behind him I saw Jonny and Will following, and finally Guy. I smiled when I saw Guy and as an instinct, I looked down at the 1.5 carat diamond ring on my left hand. I had been dating Guy for almost 2 years, but I was still shocked when he proposed last Christmas. We were planning a spring wedding, and I had been busy with wedding plans, but always made sure I took a week or two to travel with Guy when he was on tour. I had just flown in last night from our home in Cotswold’s, and would be traveling with them for 10 days before returning home.

I knew that I was in love with Guy, but every now and again I had second thoughts. Wondering if marrying him was the right thing to do. He had always been a bit wild; loved to party and drink. And I’m not sure I am the same type of person. I like to have a drink every so often, but not nearly as much as Guy. There were other things about him as well, that made me question whether we should be together.

I was slightly startled when I heard the van door pull open, and quickly moved over as Guy hopped into the car. He took off his sweaty shirt and grabbed the clean one from the back seat, as the van drove away from the venue. We had a police escort to the airport, and as we drove quickly through the dark streets, Guy leaned over to kiss me on the cheek. He said something, but I didn’t hear him.. I was lost in my thoughts.

****************

Guy squeezed my hand tight and I quickly came out of my daydream.

“We’re here… Lauren? I said we’re here. What’s the matter?”

I mumbled something to assure him I was fine, and we stepped out of the van. The air was much cooler then I was expecting, and I rearranged my scarf to cover my already chilled body. We walked quickly along the black pavement until we reached the stairs of the private plane. He helped me up onto the steps and I climbed them quickly. After we boarded the plane and took our seats, Guy went straight away to get a beer. We had to wait for the other vans to arrive and the rest of the guys to settle into the plane. Jonny was the last to arrive, and when he did, I sighed a breath of relief… happy to be leaving at last.

The rest of the guys were solo at the time, their families at home in London. We were traveling to Budapest, and they had decided that with all the flying we would be doing in the next week or so, it was best to leave the children at home. Guy was already on his 4th beer by the time we took off, and he quickly fell into a deep sleep, snoring loudly.

I didn’t feel very tired and occupied myself with reading for a while, before I became bored. I looked around the small plane. Chris and Jonny were sitting next to each other as usual, talking quietly with their heads rather close. I rolled my eyes, and giggled to myself. I was pretty sure there was something between them, but had never truly questioned it. Then I looked to my left. Will was sitting across the aisle from me, occupied with his laptop, but when I glanced at him, he looked up. Our eyes met, and he gave me a small smile. I smiled back, and looked down quickly. I checked to make sure he wasn’t watching before I raised my hand to my blushing cheeks. I had always liked Will… sometimes I thought I liked him too much.

*****************

I sighed and rolled over once again, hoping that a change of position would help me fall asleep. 15 minutes later I decided it was not working. I sat up in bed, and looked at the clock. 2:37am. Guy had been asleep for a while, but something was on my mind, and I just couldn’t figure out what it was. I was wearing my short silk nightgown, that Guy had gotten me for my birthday, and I got out of bed to pull on my matching robe. I quickly put on my slippers, and checked one last time to make sure Guy was asleep before slipping out of the hotel room. We were staying in a very nice hotel, with a bar/restaurant included, and since I couldn’t sleep I decided to go see if the kitchen was still open and serving food.

The restaurant was right on our floor, so I made it there quickly. The place was deserted, but instead of sitting at one of the small tables, I decided to sit at the bar. I noticed someone was already at the bar, and as I got closer I realized it was Will. My heart fluttered, but I continued to walk closer. I sat down a couple of seats away from him, and he looked up right away.

“Hey, what’s wrong can’t sleep?” he asked quietly. He was sitting there in his pajamas, sipping a beer.

“Nope. I haven’t been able to sleep these past couple of nights….same problem?” I asked. I realized I was talking too loudly, and decided to move closer. I got up and went to sit in the seat next to him.

“Yeah,” he replied “ can’t sleep.. I don’t know why, just some things on my mind I suppose.”

He didn’t make eye contact with me, and I wondered if there was something wrong, but decided not to ask him about it.

I looked up and replied to him, “Same here. Planning this wedding is really stressing me out.”

He nodded, and took a sip of his beer.

“Hey Will, can I ask you something?”

“Yeah sure.” he said “anything.”

“Before you married Marianne, were you nervous at all?? Did you ever think it may have been the wrong thing to do?”

“No,” he shook his head “I knew right away she was the one, no second guessing. It was love at first sight.”he smiled.

“Oh,” my heart sank.

He could tell that wasn’t the response I was hoping for. I suddenly panicked. I shouldn’t have asked him that… now he probably knew that I was reconsidering marrying Guy. I got up to leave, but he gently grabbed me by the arm to stop me.

“Lauren, is something wrong?”

“No Will I’m fine,” I looked him in the eyes. “really.”

I slipped away from his strong hand, and quickly walked out of the bar, and back down the hall to my room. Once inside, I kicked off my slippers, and took off my robe and quickly got into the bed. I pulled the covers over my body, and glanced over at Guy. He looked so peaceful, and without thinking I kissed his cheek and stared at him once more. I knew I couldn’t leave him, he would be devastated. He had done nothing wrong, and I shrugged off my previous feeling.. hoping that it was just cold feet, and that everything would be fine.

********************

The thunder woke me up the next morning, and I looked to see what time it was; 8:23. I rolled over expecting to find Guy still sleeping, but instead just rolled onto a mess of crumpled sheets, and pillows. His side of the bed was still warm, and I noticed then that I heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom. I got up and nudged the bathroom door open gently, Guy was taking a shower. I quietly backed out of the room, knowing that if he saw me, he’d ask me to join him. I didn’t feel like getting close to him right then, so I quickly got dressed and left the hotel room, off in search of some breakfast.

********************

When I returned, I found Guy sitting at the foot of the bed, tying the laces of his sneakers. “Chris, and Jonny and I are going out.”

“Where to?” I asked absentmindedly.

“A bit of shopping and sightseeing, then maybe a beer or two. It’s stopped raining, so we thought we should have a bit of fun on our day off. Would you like to come?”

“Hmm, no.. I’m not feeling well actually. I may be getting sick. I’ll probably just take a nap, then maybe go to the spa they have here…. you didn’t mention Will.. is he staying?” I asked hopefully.

“Yeah, he said he didn’t sleep well last night. Must have been the beer on the plane. He never did handle his liquor well... anyway he’s knackered so he’s staying here…I won’t be back till late afternoon. We may get dinner as well.”

“Okay" I replied.

He got up from the bed to kiss me goodbye. He attempted to make it a long passionate kiss, but I pulled away. I felt guilty though I hadn’t even done anything. I hugged Guy, handed him his coat and opened the door for him. I watched him walk down the long hotel hallway to the elevator, then shut the door. I thought of Will staying behind in his hotel room, and my heart started to beat faster and faster.

“Nothing can happen between the two of you!” I said aloud to the empty room.

The fact that I had even thought about it, made me feel disgusted with myself and I covered my face with my hands. I was thinking of something to do to take my mind off of him, when I was startled by a sharp knock at the door.

“Hello? Lauren? It’s Will….”

here is part 2

I heard his voice and completely froze. I slowly raised my head from my hands, and looked at the door. He called my name again and I heard 2 more quick knocks. I jumped up from the bed, and glanced at myself in the mirror. I smoothed down my hair a little, before thinking that it didn’t matter what I looked like anyway. I shouldn’t be prettying myself up for Will. “He is Will for fucks sake, one of Guy’s best friends. And nothing can happen between the two of you.” I repeated in my head.

I snapped out of my thoughts, and rushed over to the door. I opened it slowly, and peered out to be sure that he was still there. I saw that he was, and then opened the door all of the way. I don’t remember inviting him in, but within seconds he was in the room and sitting on the chair by the window. I shut the hotel door and turned to face him.

He was wearing dark jeans, and a gray long sleeved t-shirt with a black scarf. He was leaning back in the chair, just staring at me with those famous pensive eyes. But I didn’t feel uncomfortable, quite the opposite actually. I felt at ease.

“I didn’t really feel like going with the guys today… I was tired… but then Guy rang and said that you were staying behind as well. He said you weren’t feeling well and wanted me to come check on you later.. but I figured.. sooner is better than later right?” He said with a grin.

“Yeah, I thought I might have been getting sick, but I think I’m just tired. I barely slept last night. I feel fine otherwise.” I said.

“Oh, then I guess I better let you rest.” he said, getting up from the chair.

“No, don’t go.” I replied… almost too quickly. “Stay here, well I mean not in this room, but how about we get something to eat together?”

He paused for a while before agreeing, “Alright, sure.”

He waited outside the room while I changed into something a bit nicer. I couldn’t help but to try to make myself look good, I just felt like I wanted to impress him for some reason. I grabbed my purse and went to meet him outside the room. We didn’t talk much. He mentioned that there was a small restaurant just across the street from the hotel, so we walked there and got a small booth for two. The restaurant was pleasant; warm, nice music, and low lighting. After we ordered, I looked up at Will, expecting him to say something.. I don’t know… something about me. There was something in his eyes, that was different from the night before. But he didn’t mention anything all through lunch. I started to think maybe he didn’t feel the same way.. and brought up a bunch of random topics just to make conversation.

By the time we had finished lunch, it had started to pour outside.. and the thunder was ear-shattering loud. We quickly ran back across the street to the hotel. We walked through the lobby, and into an open elevator. He reached over to hit our floor level, 23. And the doors closed. I’m not sure what floor we were on when it happened, but suddenly the dim lights in the elevator started to flicker, then they went completely out. The elevator came to a screeching halt, and we were standing in complete darkness. I let out a small shriek, but it was muffled from the booming loudness of the thunder outside.

“ Oh fuck,” Will muttered “ the lift has completely stopped.”

“What should we do?” I asked.

“ I suppose we have to wait for someone to come get us.. I mean surely once they realize the powers out, they’ll check the lifts for stranded people right??” he asked nervously.

“I don’t know,” I said ”hmm maybe there’s an emergency button or something.. I can’t see shit though. It’s pitch black!”

“Oh here!” Will exclaimed, “I’ve got my mobile phone!”

I could hear him getting it out of his pocket and opening it up, and then suddenly the elevator was filled with a dim light. He aimed his phone over at the button panel, until he came across a big red one. He pressed the button, and waited, but nothing happened. He pressed it again, and again. Nothing.

“Fuck!” he said loudly. I could tell that he was getting anxious.

“It’s okay, Will. Just calm down, we’re going to get out of here eventually! Don’t get nervous. We just have to wait for someone to come get us... why don’t we sit down?” I suggested.

He nodded and we both lowered ourselves to the floor. We sat there next to each other in silence for a while. He opened up his phone, and placed it in front of us to create some kind of light.

Suddenly I felt his hand on my knee. I inhaled deeply, and my heart started pounding.

“Lauren?” he said “…..I’ve got to tell you something.”

and here is part 3

My heart was beating out of my chest, and I felt short of breath. His hand crept up my thigh to where my hand was resting, and he gently placed his hand on mine.

It felt like a lifetime before he said anything, but finally he opened his mouth to speak.

“Lately I’ve been feeling …” that was as far as he got.

He was stopped mid sentence when the elevator jolted to life and began zooming upwards. The lights had turned back on.. And we could see each other clearly now. We sat there for a while staring at each other. For me, it was mostly shock. I felt frozen.. My mind was racing. What was he going to tell me? We were still looking at each other, but he broke the eye contact when he glanced down at my thigh. My hand lay there, with his hand on top. He quickly pulled it away, and jumped up from the floor. I got myself up slowly, not knowing how to act or what to say. I looked up at the lights above the elevator door. We were only at floor 17. It seemed to be taking forever. Will was breathing hard, and he had shoved his hands deep into his pockets and was pacing the short length of the elevator. I opened my mouth several times to say something, but closed it again. I had no idea what to say to him.

When the elevator finally reached our floor, he burst out through the doors and began to bolt down the long hallway. I quickly followed him. He reached his room and was about to go in when I called his name.

“Will, wait!”

He stopped and turned around to face at me.

“What were you just going to tell me?” I asked him. He was looking down at the floor, and pulling at his scarf nervously.

“Nothing, Lauren… nothing at all.” he sputtered the words out quickly. Then he went into his hotel room and slammed the door.

I stood there for a while, with my mouth hanging open… “Well what the fuck was that?!?” I thought to myself. I somehow managed to get back to my room. I went in, kicked off my heels, and collapsed onto the bed. I stared at the ceiling, my mind and my heart were racing. My eyes started to feel heavy, and within a couple of minutes, I had fallen asleep.

***************

When I woke up, the room was dark. I looked at the clock, it was 6:50 pm. I was surprised that Guy wasn’t back yet, but then remembered that he had mentioned something about dinner. Suddenly a thought entered into my head, something I had to act on. I got up and went into the bathroom. I picked up my toothbrush and began to brush my teeth, while at the same time, fixing my hair and then re-applying my mascara. I put on my heels again, and left the hotel room quickly. I needed to do this fast before my mind had time to think and rationalize.

I walked down the winding hallway to Will’s room and knocked loud and hard on the door. It wasn’t long before he answered. He stood there staring at me, he had changed into his pajamas and he smelled clean and soapy.. He must have just taken a shower. I pressed my hand against his chest and pushed him into the room. I shut the door behind me, took his hand and led him over to the big overstuffed chair by the window. I had to be forceful, knowing how stubborn Will is. I sat him down, and took a deep breath. “Think about what your doing, Lauren” I said in my head. “Oh fuck it.”

I climbed onto his lap, and wrapped my legs around him. He hadn’t spoken yet, and I don’t think he planned to anytime soon. I stared deep into his eyes. Then leaned in, and kissed his cheek. I kissed his cheek again, but this time closer to his lips. I kept getting closer and closer until finally I reached them.

He kissed me back. And soon I knew that if he had a doubt about this, it was gone now.

He kissed me again, and soon I wasn’t the one being forceful. He placed his hands on my back, pulling me in closer to him.

Suddenly something vibrated between us. It was my cell phone in my front pocket, and it quickly stopped our kissing. I pulled it out from the front of my jeans, and saw that it was Guy’s number on the caller id. I picked up and tried my best not to sound breathless.

Guy told me that had parted ways with Chris and Jon, and come back to the hotel to pick me up. He wanted to take me out on a “proper date.” I had no choice but to accept, he told me he loved me, and I whispered it back through the phone. I was still on Will’s lap, my face just inches from his.

“That was Guy, he wants me to meet him downstairs.” I said, even though I was sure that Will had heard everything Guy had just said. How could he not? He was two inches away.

“Oh.. Okay… okay then… so…”

He was a stuttering mess. I stopped him from talking by kissing his lips again. Then I got up from his lap, and walked to the door. I stared at him once more before slowly leaving, and shutting the door behind me.

I knew that what I had just done was wrong. So wrong, but I couldn’t help but smile. He had left the sweetest taste in my mouth.

********************

I fought back tears the entire night. During dinner, as I sat there directly across from Guy, I found it hard to look him in the eyes. When I had left Will’s hotel room, I had been smiling.. But that smile had quickly faded when I remembered the wonderfully kind and innocent man waiting for me in the hotel lobby. How could I have done this to Guy?

He held my hand as we walked back to the hotel from the restaurant. He gave me his coat when I complained about the cold. He made cute little jokes, and was his amazing adorable self. He was such a good person, and I had betrayed him.

When we got back into our room, I immediately went into the bathroom and locked the door. As soon as I heard Guy turn the T.V on, I broke down, and let the tears fall from my eyes. I stayed in there for quite a while, thinking and crying. I finally washed my face and went back into the bedroom. Guy had fallen asleep on the bed, with a book in his hand. I took the book from him, and placed it on the nightstand table. Then I turned back to look at him. He was the perfect man, and I knew I was in love with him. But I had to make things right first. I knew that I had to talk to Will.

Part 4 (The final part of "The Lift")

I lean my head against the window, and my cheek touches the cold glass. It was raining so hard, and for some reason I just found it comforting to sit there and watch it all. I close my eyes and clutch my legs closer to my chest, balancing myself on the narrow window seat. A sharp beeping noise pulls me out of my state of calm, and makes me jump up from my seat. It’s the alarm clock that Guy had set the night before. I walk over to the nightstand table and hit the snooze button, and then sit on the edge of the bed.

“Guy,” I whisper softly “Guy honey, wake up. It’s 7 o’clock. We have to start getting ready to leave.” He opens his eyes, and smiles up at me.

“10 more minutes, lay here with me.”

I obey, and lay down next to him. I rest my head on his chest, and wrap my arms around him.

We lay there for what seems like an eternity. I am holding him so tightly, not wanting to let go. Not wanting to get up from that bed and deal with the problems that lay ahead of me. Talking to Will, sorting this whole mess out. I want to stay there forever. Finally I lift my head up slightly and look up at Guy. He runs his fingers through my hair and then brings his hand back up to my cheek. His hand rests there for a while, and then he leans forward and kisses me.

He pulls away and whispers “I love you.”

I lay back down on his chest. “I love you too Guy, so much.”

*****************************************************************

I pace back and forth past his room a couple of times before getting the courage to knock. When I finally do, Will opens right away.. Almost as if he was expecting me.

“Good morning Lauren” He smiles and opens the door more to let me in.

“Good morning,” I walk past him and into the room “Will we need to talk about last night.”

I turn around and he’s closing the hotel door. He walks over to me quickly and kisses me. I’m so surprised that it takes me a second or two to realize what’s happening and pull away.

“Will no, we can’t do this. That’s what I came here to talk to you about..”

There is a knock at the door and I panic.

“Yeah what?!? Who is it?” Will almost screams it, he sounds so aggravated.

A voice answers him from the other side of the door

“It’s Phil, just came to let you know that we’re leaving in 15 minutes for the airport. Bring your bags down to the lobby.”

“Yeah okay… okay.” Will grumbles.

After a minute Will finally looks up at me. “I’m sorry about that.. I just.. Let’s just talk on the plane okay?”

“Yeah.. Um sure.” I reply, I was so anxious to get out of his room. I wasn’t expecting him to kiss me like that.

He opens the door for me, and I walk out and go down the hall back to my room.

*****************************************************************

Finally everyone is aboard the plane, and we’re ready to take off.

“TO AUSTRIA!!!” Chris announces as he zooms down the aisle and bounces into his seat.

I laugh and turn to Guy “How does he have so much energy? It’s only 10 in the morning.”

Guy laughs “I’ll never know how he does it.” he says.

20 minutes into the flight, I look up from my book. Guy’s sleeping, a perfect chance for me to go talk to Will. I get up and walk to the back of the plane where Will has chosen to sit. He always seems to seclude himself from everyone else. Always in the back where no one else sits.

I sit down next to him and he closes his laptop and turns to face me.

“Hey Will”

“Hey, before you say anything… just let me say that I’m sorry about before. I know we can’t do this. It’s wrong and we can’t and… “ he starts talking faster and faster, and then suddenly stops and finally looks me in the eye “and I’m sorry.”

“I know, it’s okay Will… I’m sorry too. I’m sorry that I came to your room last night and started it all. We just can’t let anything else happen. We can only be friends. That’s just the way it has to be. But listen.. Don’t beat yourself up over this. We made a mistake.. But we’re only human…”

Suddenly Chris pops up from seemingly no where.

”Or are we dancer?” he asks with a smile.

“Shit, I love that song. ‘Are we human or are we dancer?!?’ Brilliant. What are you guys talking about anyway?” Chris asks.

“umm.. Football.” Will blurts out to get rid of him.

“Oh boring!” Chris grumbles and quickly dances his way back to his seat.

“Soo anyway,” I say “We’re friends right?”

“Friends. Yes.” Will smiles at me and extends his hand. I shake it happily, and get up to return to my seat. I sit down next to Guy… where I belong.

I know everything’s going to be alright.
