Guy’s POV

It was raining hard as I walked home. It was soaking me to the skin, and I shivered with every step I took. My hair was plastered to my forehead and water dripped into my eyes. Then, suddenly it stopped, and I could hear the familiar sound of rain hitting an umbrella above my head.

I spun around, and was shocked to see Chris walking along behind me. He obviously hadn’t been out long; most of his clothing was still dry at the bottom. But now the rain was soaking him quickly, without an umbrella to keep it out. For a moment, I stared at him questioningly. “You look like a drowned cat.” he explained.

“Oh, right. Thanks. But you can keep your umbrella, I’m already wet.”

“Well, so am I.” he pointed out, still holding the thing over my head. I shrugged.

“Okay.” There was a moment of silence as I mustered up some courage and humility. “Thanks, Chris.”

There was another pause, and all I could hear was the rain pattering against the umbrella and our footsteps in the puddles. “Sure.” he said finally. “Shit, it’s cold, isn’t it?”

“I told you to take the umbrella.” I reminded him, pushing some hair away from my forehead.

“You need it more than I do; you’re still shivering.” said Chris matter-of-factly. He was right...and I couldn’t make it stop. I swore to myself for not thinking to wear a better jacket.

By this time, we were passing a few stores near the main square of town. There was an awning covering the entrance to the food market, which Chris stopped me under. “Wait...let’s get something.” he suggested, nodding to the store. “I’ve got a few pounds on me...”

“But I don’t.” I said. “And look at us. They’ll kick us out for getting water everywhere.”

Chris shrugged, already holding the door open for me. I swallowed nervously as Chris shook out the umbrella. Why was he being so nice to me? I’d completely ignored his existence for the past day, and here he was...acting like nothing had ever happened. “Go on...they’ve got good stuff here, man.”

I tentatively took a step through the door, but not before wringing out my shirt. It didn’t help much, and the fabric still clung to my chest. Before following me, Chris tossed the umbrella on the sidewalk. “I don’t have any money.” I repeated.

“I said I’ve got a few pounds. Just get whatever you want. For under two, that is.” he added. I looked around the place...I hadn’t been in this one before. The stuff they had was pretty similar in Scotland, but I still felt like an outsider.

“Don’t be shy, it’s just food!” piped up Chris, waving a few chocolate bars in the air. I grinned sheepishly.

“So what do you suggest, then?”

As an answer, Chris shoved a bottle of Coca Cola and a Cadbury chocolate bar into my chest. “You like chocolate?” I asked.

“God, I love it.” he admitted, running a finger idly along the shelves.

“Oh.” I said, looking around. A few seconds later, I looked back at him. “Chris, I’m sorry.” I blurted out. He turned to face me, looking as shocked as I felt. Those words had been building up in me ever since yesterday, and had chosen now to slip out. But I had barely even been aware of the urge to say them. I could feel my face redden as Chris struggled to find a response. “Really, I didn’t mean to...”

“Look, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been bothering you like that. I overreacted. Completely my fault, Guy.” he said with conviction.

I scratched at the bottle of Coke in my hands. “Man, I really pissed you off.”

He shook his head. “I overreacted. Is that what you’re getting?” he asked quickly, gesturing to the things I was holding.

“No. No, I’m really not hungry.” I muttered. He sighed slowly and turned a pack of chewing gum over in his hands.

“I’m sorry for losing it on you.”

“You said that already.”

“Then what shall I say?”

I shrugged and stared at the floor, at a complete loss for words. I really didn’t know what I wanted to hear. “I’m gonna go, my mum’s probably waiting...” I said quickly, handing the food back to him. He looked slightly hurt, but I ignored it and continued out of the store.

I was glad to find that the rain had slowed to a drizzle, but no so glad to find that Chris was right on my heels. He hadn’t bought anything in favor of catching up to me.

“Hey, look...”

“Chris, I’m sorry. I have to go.”

He finally seemed to get the message, because he stopped talking. But he kept following me. A few blocks down, I turned around angrily.

“Why are you still following me?”

He looked bitter. “I live here too, remember?”

I turned back, pinching the bridge of my nose. I remembered.

Come Back And Look For Me Chapter Thirteen will not be on for a bit because I am out this weekend, but I will do it as soon as possible, but I promise that your patience will be rewarded! All I will say is that is is Chapter Thirteen- UNLUCKY THIRTEEN!

  • Author
Uh-oh...with you, Si, 'unlucky' probably means 'everyone dies'. :P

Not quite

I think NaNoWriMo would be good to do with Coldplay Fanfics! :D Does any one want to do it when it comes around? I'm up for it :D

You're not supposed to really do fanfics but you can. NaNoWriMo comes around every November but they have NaNoJulMo in July and NaNoAugMo in August to do it. Last NaNoWriMo there was a story of someone doing Sailor Moon fanfiction so I don't see come July or August we couldn't do CP, but I'm not doing CP in November.

I must warn you however, it is very evil. My first attempt in 2007 got to about 2700 words and last year's attempt got to 10,003. If we did it I'd prefer to do July personally because us Southies have two weeks of winter holidays during it and you guys have summer holidays, plus isn't that far away.

Anyway here's my suggestions for award categories

Masterpiece

Basically the grand winner.

The Golden Quill

Obligatory Writer of the Year award

The Golden/Electric/Roboto/Barack Obama/Fan-sparklysuperawesomeshinyimpressivewhicheveradjectiveyouplease-tabulous Typewriter Award

Best Series Award

The Shiny Trophy Award (or whatever name)

Best Shortpiece

Best In Show

This category could include Best Comedy, Best Drama, Best Romance, Best Thriller/Horror, Best Other. It shouldn't include the Masterpiece.

Best Depiction Of

Will include Best Depiction of Chris, Best Depiction of Guy, Best Depiction of Jonny, Best Depiction of Will and Best Depiction of Other. Other must be a true-to-life character though (probably will be won by a Phil but hey)

Best Centrics

Best Chris-centric, Best Jonny-centric, Best Guy-centric, Best Will-centric. All of these must have C/J/G/W as the main character however.

Best Original Characters

Best OC Female and Best OC Male. 'Cuz otherwise a female would win it every damn time.

Elaborate, discuss.

dp

While I am at it editing this dp

Ah nevermind

I really like it, Emma...but how would nominating and stuff work? Could we nominate...ourselves?

:P

Schoolboys! :D

Okay, just to clear up some stuff: All the kids in my story go to an all-boys Christian secondary school (hence the lack of females). So, they wear little uniforms and everything. Yeah.

Now here's the next chapter of Schoolboys!

Will's POV

I had barely been standing outside of school for five minutes when Guy appeared next to me. He looked sideways in my direction, but didn’t say anything. “Hey,” I said carefully. “See you tomorrow, yeah?”

“Sure.” he muttered. “See you, Will.” It was beginning to rain, so I forgave his abruptness and wrote it off his not wanting to get wet. After all, he was shivering, wearing only a thin cotton sweater over his uniform shirt.

“Careful, yeah?” I called as he suddenly jogged across the street.

“Yes, Mum!” he called back, waving a hand over his shoulder. I rolled my eyes. Even though I was a little younger than Guy, something about him awoke a paternal instinct in me. I felt that if I didn’t keep an eye on him, he would end up in serious trouble. Just as I was musing about that, the tall blond one practically ran into me from behind. By this time, it was beginning to rain harder. Chris yanked an umbrella out of his backpack then looked hurriedly back at me.

“When my mum gets here, tell her I’ve walked home.” he instructed brusquely. I was about to tell him that there were a hundred holes in his plan, but he’d already taken off across the street. I winced, even though there were no cars around. Perhaps it wasn’t just Guy who stirred up protective feelings in me. Maybe it was all of my irresponsible, impossible friends.

Then, it clicked. Chris wanted to follow Guy. I blinked in confusion, wondering why this sudden change of behavior had occurred.

“Inconsiderate fool.” I groaned. Now I would have to sit here and wait for his mother, even if mine came first. Luckily, Mrs. Martin arrived some ten minutes later. I sidled up to her car, a bit nervous. I had only met her a few times before.

“Hello, Mrs. Martin.” I said brightly.

“Oh...Will, how are you?” she asked kindly. My nervousness dissipated instantly.

“I’m fine...but Chris told me to tell you that he’s walking home. I think he wanted to catch up with Guy.” Her face twisted a bit with exasperation, but she didn’t lose her smile.

“Well, alright. Are you sure?”

“Yeah, he left about ten minutes ago.” I announced, secretly proud to have been paying attention to the time.

“That Chris...he’d run off to the moon without telling me.” She sighed and put the car back into drive. “Bye, Will.”

“Bye!” I patted the car as she pulled away from the curb. Soon after, my mother came to pick me up. I hopped into our car, tossing my things into the back seat. My brother was in there, and my backpack landed in his lap.

“Hey!”

“Shut up. Hi, mum!”

My mother pursed her lips and shook her head. “Be nice to your brother.” I rolled my eyes and proceeded to stare out the window in silence. A few minutes into the drive, my mother turned back to me. “Will, I forgot to tell you...Eddie won’t be able to go to Edinburgh.”

“Aw, no! Why?” I asked, thoroughly disappointed. I had been looking forward to spending time with my favorite cousin.

“I’m not sure, but his parents made it sound as if he was in some sort of trouble.”

“Oh. Well...what are we doing with the extra ticket then?”

“I’ll try to get a refund, I suppose.” she said thoughtfully. I sighed, still bitterly disappointed. I had been looking forward to going with Eddie. When I got home, I did my homework in a dejected stupor and watched the TV for a few hours before my parents made me go to bed. Then I went to sleep in a dejected stupor.

-------

When I got up for school the next day, I wasn’t so disappointed anymore. I figured that I was still going to Scotland (which was a pretty cool place), and I would still see some other nice family members once I got there. I got dressed quickly, being a bit late, and ate a piece of toast on the way to school.

When I finally fought through the crowd to get to my locker, Chris was waiting for me. He was leaning against the wall, like the boys did in those bad romantic comedies when they’re trying to pick up girls. “Wanna go out on Friday?” he asked mildly, as if he really didn’t care what my answer was.

“Are you asking me on a date, Christopher?” I teased.

He laughed, straightening himself out. “Only if you want it to be.”

“Well, sorry.” I said apologetically. “I can’t. I’m going to Edinburgh, remember?”

“Oh.” he muttered. Now he was the one who sounded dejected. “Who’re you going with?”

“Well, I’m going with my family. My brother, mum and dad...And my cousin was going to come, but he can’t. I’m not sure why.”

“Oh...like for what, a Champion family reunion or something?”

“Something like that.”

There was a moment of silence, and Chris looked thoughtful. “Anyone taking the place of your cousin?”

I shrugged. “Mum said she wanted to try for a refund.”

“Well, wait!” Chris said, suddenly looking giddy.

“Uh...why?”

“Well, what about Guy?”

“What about him?”

“He’s Scottish!”

I suddenly knew what Chris was hinting at, and I had to admit it was a pretty good idea. We all knew Guy was really homesick... “But are you sure that’s a good idea? Won’t going just make it worse when he has to come back?”

Chris shook his head. “I’m not sure, but I think he deserves to choose. Do you think you could convince your parents to bring him?”

“Look, mate....I don’t know! We’re talking about a pretty expensive, long train ride here.”

“I know, I know.” muttered Chris. “But can you ask? Both his parents work, so they don’t really have time to go anywhere. I think it would be great for him to go with you!”

“Yeah, I’ll check. I mean, it’d be nice to do something like that for him. I’m sure he’d like to go...it’s just kind of sudden, you know?”

“Of course, right.” said Chris, his eyes still bright and excited.

“So...” I asked, lowering my voice. “What happened yesterday after you left?”

“Oh...Sheila and I made out behind the dustbins on Main...” he said loudly.

I rolled my eyes and punched him in the arm. “We all know there’s no one called Sheila in your life.”

“Well, what do you mean then? Guy and I just walked home. He kind of got pissed at me again, though.”

“What’d you say?”

“Nothing!”

“What happened?”

“Nothing...! Just remember about the Scotland thing.” he said quickly as the bell rang, signaling the start of homeroom.

“Okay!” I assured him, picking up my things. “Just don’t say anything to him...”

“I’m not stupid, Will.”

“Of course not.” I grinned; Chris scowled.

i wrote a fanfic once, but it is too bad and embarrassing to show here.

I''ll make a funny one for you guys though, k?

edit: so it probably won't actually be funny, but whatever.
