That's just twisted@!@ Each night I go to bed, I dream, and I see this stick man, with an ordinarily pleasant face, dousing itself with gas, and then "poof" burning itself to a crispy chip! (but perhaps a tasty crispy chip?) I think that's what can happen when you let people use avatars.. It all starts out innocent and everything, but in the end, it's toasty stickmen everywhere!:P One could almost poke an eye out with an avatar like that!!

All this visual stuff takes away from imagination! Just look at music, for instance. Without the videos, the music conjures up grand images and feelings; but with the videos, and our imaginations get swept over by the motion picture images. Sometimes less really is more!:P

Although I do like when Radiohead have their music video contests. Lets people portray the music as they see and hear it...not just have it fed to them by the band.
