Sad, but True News

It is good that they are finally finishing their contract with EMI. They will do better on their own without the pressure of that money grubbing company. All the big names artists have gone on to better things without the big corporation. McCartney, the Stones, Madonna, Radiohead... just to name a few. Coldplay has enough money to start their own label and can find an independant distributor for hard sales. This is much like Radiohead did. Much success to Coldplay without EMI! :D

i'm going to get a bit uncharacteristically harsh here, but oh my god, not another topic about this.

they're not breaking up, and it would NEVER be the case that no one would want to sign them. every record company in existence would drool over the funds that signing coldplay would bring in. at any rate, i hope they pull a radiohead and do everything on their own. i think that's the way of the future.

but really, everyone just needs to cool their jets and stop going on about this breakup crap. chris is not to be fully believed or taken seriously in the first place, as almost ten years have shown us, so be smarter than the media and the average person and laugh off what he says. secondly, in rolling stone, chris retracted his statement and said that he doesn't think they'll ever break up, so that should calm this whole storm. what comes comes, and chris, the band, the oracle, and other sources have said enough to confirm that there are no plans in place to break up.

sorry for the bluntness, but there are enough threads about this and enough sources to say that it's nothing to worry about. there's no need to get people all hyped up again. this isn't "true" or "news," so it's all alarmist.

Pfft, being free of the EMI contract will only be a good thing. They've got enough money that they could finance their own album and be completely free of any bullshit corporate influences.

They won't break up, they'll just have more control over their music.

Think about it- every song they've ever recorded from The Blue Room to LP5 belongs to EMI not Coldplay. As Radiohead found EMI aren't the sorts to give you any control later on either. They'll squeeze every cent they can out of it whenever they feel like they need to.

And as they've said before, they like it at EMI (:freak:) because of some of the people there, so they may even stay on longer if those people are still there...

what a load of rubbish:lol::lol:

I am kind of treading the 5th CD from Coldplay because, i'm not sure if any of you know this, Coldplay signed a 5 album contract, and when they make the fifth album, the contract will be over, and that might be when they break up. I really hope someone offers them a contract.

i don't see the boys breaking up after number 5... plus, they're freaking coldplay. one of the biggest bands in europe, someone will sign them. :D

I think you mean the world.:smug:

Well said. Bravo.

I know they probably love their jobs, but it must put one hell of a strain on their private lives, so they need to take a long break to get back to basics. And lets face it, they wont be together forever.

You're right, they wont but chris said "we're never gonna break up" just to calm down coldplay fans, we all know that

but we want to believe they will never gonna break up just because it makes us feel good

I dunno if they can get a contract.

They ARE the most insufferable band of decade, you know?

Maybe they are even tossing about a new record company just now ;)

I am new to this forum and surely don't know all the details concerning contracts aso. but did anyone ever think of the fact, that they may have fulfilled their contract already? :wink3:

5 albums. Okay!?

What does the word 'album' mean? How would you characterise an album or to put it in other words: what is the difference between an album or an EP with 8 tracks? Can 8 tracks (even if some of them were released on another album before) be called an album already?

So that could mean, we have reached the magic 5 albums already!

They are entitled to leave the contract and can either start releasing their stuff on their own label or search for another megadeal ... :D

nahhh

it's not possible,

they cant break up :wink3:
