Rolling Stone has always given U2 better reviews than Coldplay. Look at all their albums and compare.

perfectly honest... but I like Coldplay way much more than u2 ... guess that is why i am on this website...

me i dont really like u2...but they have eve catchier songs that appeal more than coldplays

^ it's all in the eye of the beholder. I don't agree that U2 is more "catchy" than Coldplay. It all depends on the song, as both can write "catchy" tunes.

i think what it comes down to is that U2 have been top of the world a lot longer than coldplay have - and even for a band as good as coldplay, who have this advantageous edge on their music, and the way they are more interesting and unique as a band, it's very difficult to push those U2 kings out the way!

I love them both, but honestly I never compare them.

 

I would not say one is better than the other, and I love them both.

 

I am looking forward to the new U2 stuff. It has been a while. Saw them on the Vertigo tour and they were fantastic. My first concert ever.

It all boils down to personal taste in music. They both have their place in the musical scene. It's not as if each musician's primary ambition is to surpass one another when releasing an album.

NOt everyone likes U2.......... Personally i tried to listen to their songs but overall they all bore me.... for some reason i doubt why theyve come so far and so big.......maybe its the weird era of music back then... theyve never grown on me yet..but coldplay is one of the best ...really... dont compare them pls... i personally think COLDPLAY <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< U2??????

Man, there are so many arguments that I respect:

 

1. I like Coldplay better than U2

2. I like U2 better than Coldplay

3. I only like U2.

4. I only like Coldplay

5. I dislike U2

6. I dislike Coldplay

 

What drives me nuts are the following:

 

1. I like U2, therefore, I am against Coldplay

2. I like Coldplay, therefore, I am against U2

u2 have done something coldplay has not done because they cannot yet.

 

u2 among very few artist and groups(only ones that come to mind are rolling stones and maybe bob dylan) have been on top in three decades, 80s,90s, and this decade. we have to see how coldplay will do next decade.
