Nadal is at the peak of his career .... Federer was like him in his early career ... Nadal should really enjoy those happy and successful moments cause they ain't going to last forever ...

Anyway , i hope that Wimbledon will be won by Federer ... the guy really deserves it ... i felt sorry for him when Nadal raised the Roland Garros Cup ...

As Boris Becker said, Fed is playing well enough to win Wimbledon again, and he plays far better on grass than on clay.

Definitely. I've always been a much bigger fan of Federer's than Nadal. Federer is an absolute joy to watch on the court. Makes it look so effortless.

Admittedly, I was fairly surprised by Federer's performance. Shame he lost it towards the end of the 1st set. Let's see what he can do in Wimbledon. Can't wait for the championship to start, it's my fav Grand Slam! :)

I totally agree. He manages to play without making any grunting noises too!:smug:

*jealous* Hope you'll enjoy it! I was contemplating about going to Queen's but maybe we'll do Wimbledon instead. Have a friend who's real crazy about it and very eager to queue up... well, we shall see. :D

I've done the queuing at Wimbledon and also had tickets several times in the past.

I've always wanted to visit Queen's as it appears to have a special, intimate atmosphere.

I managed to get a ticket through the ballot.:D

Can't believe it's the start of the grass season already!

Have tickets for Wimbledon on the first Tuesday, I cannot wait!

I just want to shout, "C'mon Tim!" Haha.

Well he'll be in the commentary box, so there's a good chance he'll hear you................. :P

Actually, he's through to the semis, and I was actually there to see it (as well as his final set against Querry).:D

Also saw Rafa practicing, and Murray very briefly before rain intervened. It's also a pity Cilic pulled out, as Murray's match would have been moved to our court if he hadn't.:(

Anyway, I enjoyed Ward's match, so it was definitely worth going.

So Serena's back, watch out WTA.

And the ATP, for that matter!:P

Masterful Murray steps up a gear as Tsonga dashes hopes of all-British final at Queen's

James Ward’s brilliant run at Queen’s finally came to an end when Jo-Wilfried Tsonga prevented him from joining Andy Murray in the final of the AEGON Championships.

Ward, the world No 216 and British No 2 has captured the public’s imagination this week by beating two top 20 players on his way to his first ATP semi-final, but world No 19 Tsonga proved to be too much for him with a 6-3, 7-6 victory.

Tsonga will play Murray on Sunday, after an almost flawless British No 1 cruised into the final with an easy 6-3, 6-1 victory over Andy Roddick.

No player has won the tournament more times than the American’s four titles but the British No 1 ensured there would be no chance of a fifth title this year with a superb display, setting up the chance to win the title for the second time.

Ward leaves Queen’s with his reputation, ranking and wallet all better off and he once again put in a decent display against Tsonga. The Frenchman broke in the second game and never looked like losing his serve in the first set. Ward performed well though, striking the ball cleanly from the back of the court and generally coping well with Tsonga’s serve-and-volley.

Ward’s backhand was particularly dangerous and he used it to good effect to break at the start of the second set as Tsonga – who is prone to lapses in concentration – struggled.

But Tsonga’s big serve and desire to come forward suit the grass and he eventually broke back, taking the second set to a tie-break. Some would have crumbled at many points during the second set but Ward, who has beefed up in recent weeks by cage fighting, stood firm, always going for his shots and mixing it up with drop shots.

The tie-break was close, Ward taking two early mini-breaks but eventually failing to add Tsonga to the significant scalps of Stanislas Wawrinka and defending champion Sam Querrey.

He did not go without a fight though, the crowd roaring him on with every point won before Tsonga’s experience edged him through 9-7.

Murray broke early in both sets to establish a lead and banish any fears that he would be rusty after his opponent Marin Cilic withdrew from their quarter-final yesterday. He will now face British wildcard James Ward or France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in tomorrow’s final.

This was Murray’s first opportunity for some sort of revenge for losing in the semi-finals of Wimbledon two years ago. That day Roddick played aggressively but he soon fell into Murray’s trap today.

Able to read Roddick’s underperforming big serve with ease, Murray then had Roddick exactly where he wanted him, luring him into long rallies from the back of the court and then moving the American around with complete ease.

Roddick was never going to win many rallies with his backhand slice and he struggled to reach Murray’s timely drop shots too.

The British No 1’s improved serve has also been noticeable in recent weeks and 10 aces in the first set put him in a commanding position. He broke in the second game and then toyed with the four-time champion, losing just six points on his serve to seal the opening set.

article-2002470-0C83939000000578-448_634x416.jpg Sweet spot: Murray easily dealt with everything thrown at him by the American

It was all so easy that there seemed to be a lack of atmosphere courtside, the public clearly numbed by Roddick’s inability to outwit Murray as he came to the net in vain time and time again only to see the ball flash past him.

There was not much smiling, as ever, but Murray was clearly having fun, hitting a series of winners of returns and breaking early again in the second set. Roddick would have hoped to come out with fresh impetus but instead found himself broken in the opening game to 15 and heading for defeat.

Having run out of ideas – if he had any to start with – Roddick was broken again in the fifth game of the second set as Murray’s class showed again.

Three match points on Roddick’s serve to wrap up an almost perfect second set were more than deserved, the British No 1 playing sublimely.

article-2002470-0C83A55A00000578-130_634x439.jpg Tough time: Roddick was given the runaround by Murray

Roddick acknowledged Murray’s class afterwards, saying: ‘He played great. I felt like I hit the ball well. It certainly does nothing to my confidence level going into Wimbledon.

'I mean, I just thought he played too well today. Everything he touched turned to gold. He was too good for me today.’

In a final brought forward to midday because of rain forecast in the afternoon, Murray will be confident of winning and heading into Wimbledon with the best preparation possible.

Murray was awesome today. He totally destroyed A-Rod.:smug:

Agreed, he played astonishingly good! I'm glad he managed to win so easily - a tiny revenge for the SF at Wimbledon 2009. :sneaky:

Also, James Ward really gave his best. I think a 3rd set was possible but he had nothing to lose and nothing to prove. Well done to him!

Definitely. He acquitted himself very well indeed and gave Tsonga a bit of a scare in that second set.

Tsonga was just a bit too strong in the end.

Roddick is now clearly past his best. Murray made him look like he was glued to the spot at times.;)

It's proper chucking it down in London. I've just watched the 5minute thingie on bbc1 where they said they're hopeful for play this afternoon, but it doesn't look promising. :(

Also that Andrew Castle has been getting on my nerves all week. He's proper annoying, I wish they'd get rid of him.

Watched Ward's win in the quarters on Friday night. David Cameron was there in the crowd. Did you see him?

Also watched Murray's destruction of Roddick. That was brilliant stuff to watch!
