March 18, 201016 yr Author I did some SXSWing today! Much fun. My friend had a job interview at Anthropologie today, so I went with her and just looked around the store while she did it. Then after that we were going to go to these free concerts happening behind the Urban Outfitters, but Waterloo Records was right across the street from Anthropologie and with it being one of the major record stores in Austin, there was obviously SXSW stuff going on there. So we went over there first. We stood around in the parking lot for like 10 minutes. There was a stage there but they were between acts so no one was playing at them moment. There were a lot of very bandish cool looking people there. So since no one was playing yet we went inside the store and looked around. We found the area with a bunch of free stuff. Got two free cds with compilations of different artisits, and some free stickers, and a big-ass free fashion magazine (which ended up being boobs and other nakedness), AND I found these little flyers that said that Beach House would be here in April. So that's exciting, I hope I can go to that. So after a little while longer there we decided to leave. We went to the Urban Outfitters and went out back. The free series of performances back there is called Drugs Roll & Sex Rock (:lol:). We each got a free shoulder bad that says that on it. It has stickers and a program inside. So we had time to watch two performances, both by artists we've never heard of. The first was Villagers and the second was Scanners. Villagers was just one guy and his acoustic guitar. He had a very nice voice, and his music was relatively mellow with sort of longing vocals. Scanners was a quartet, a dude on drums, a dude on guitar, a female vocalist who played both guitar and bass, and another female guitarist. The two back up guitarists also did back up vocals. They were pretty good. I guess you'd call them indie rock, on the more hardcore side. :thinking: Anyways, they were both good. Looking through the program I only saw one artist that I've heard of. It's Memory Tapes (I think it was Nathan who posted about them a long time ago in this thread). Anyways they're tomorrow. I don't know if I'll be able to go but I'd like to.
