Booking Coldplay

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Coldplay lovers-

I am a student at Ohio State and am a member of the activities board on campus. I was wondering what any of you thought about the possiblity of Coldplay playing at any type of university event in the forseeable future. I know the chances of this happening are slim to none, but we are the largest school in the country and therefore have the largest budget. This would not even be considered until two or so years from now, since I know they plan on releasing another album next winter and will probably be on tour again. I guess my question really is, if the circumstances were right, in terms of availbility and finances, would this ever be possible? Would they ever consider doing such an event? What do you all think? Thanks.

Stephen

You'd have to have quite a bit of money, not to say Coldplay is greedy, but they are quite a popular band...I'm not sure whether or not they would consider doing something like that, but hey, ya never know right?

Zero chance, no matter how much money you have for this. Sorry.

Maybe you could get U2 though?

Cause as of this moment.. CP is bigger.

:p

I think your chances are higher of getting the Beatles. All 4 of them.

Then say it's for some charitable cause, then your changes will increase 10 FOLD

Really now?

Let's c how NLOTH does before we start jumping to any conclusions on popularity

And even then, said charity would have to become as big as War Child.

So hate to say it, but the odds of getting anybody in the music big leagues is essentially zilch. Small local bands? Speakers? Politicians? Sure, that's easy. Multi-platinum worldwide music phenomenons? Give up.

It's just a prediction.

I don't think NLOTH will do as well globally.

Perhaps if they were passing through, they might consider it? :)

Funny, how if you had wanted to book them in let's say 1998, and you offered plane tickets, they would have jumped at the chance!:laugh3: Obviously, you just need to set the Heart of Gold to 1998, Earth, and all will happen as planned! (except nobody would know that they're famous and all that, except you.)

Impossible.

Try submitting this question the Oracle on Coldplay.com. And good luck! :nice:

Q. I was watching a Much Music TV interview with Jonny & Chris a couple of days ago, & they said that they would perform at weddings for 4 Pounds an hour. I'm celebrating my 30th Birthday & my wife & my 3 year Anniversary on May 30th, 2009 & was wondering if they would perform for us? Who do I need to get in touch with, in order to make this happen?

The Oracle replies:

I'm afraid they were jesting; they're not available for hire. If they were at £4 and hour, they'd be the bargain of the century!

weddings are a bit of a different situation, but yah i still think it's not going to happen

I, too, realize that weddings are different, but she does say that "they're not available for hire."

It's so funny how oblivious the original poster is to the extent of their popularity, "bigness" and demand.

I realize it was a stretch, but I just wanted to see what people thought. Maybe it was wishful thinking, but I am not oblivious. I've been following Coldplay for quite some time now and am fully aware of just how 'big' they are. Thanks.

But you might be able to book U2 - Bono said at the end of their sound-check: "Weddings, funerals, Bah mitzvahs. U2"; so maybe they're available, and even if Coldplay isn't, they've got some nice tunes too!;)

Impossible.

Yes, weddings are definitely a bit of a different story.

And as for the person who asked that question... wow.
