Wooo Coldplay coming to CT!! I'm already going to MA in August but of course I wanna go to CT, my home state, too, but I might be going to Chicago that week. I just might have to re-schedule my trip for Coldplay because they're just that important! Haha. Who else is super excited??

The tri-state area crew will be there, no worries! ;)

(by this I mean me, Christa, and Cooky)

Weee!

i'll be there toooooooooo! i was thinking that i'd be too short on money to go and i decided not to see them in MA in august for that reason, but screw it, it's COLDPLAY reaaaallly close to me in my home state. me and my mom will be there! :D i just might have to miss class to buy tickets...

I am so short on money but I wanna goooo! :(

^i was worried about that too...but my mom was like "fiiiinne, we'll all go," so it's a family affair :P. i've turned my brother into a huge coldplay fan, and though he saw them at the today show with me, i think he needs to see a full-length coldplay show too :wacky:.

That's great Chelsea!! we are all going to have a great time!! i have never been to the hartford arena, does anyone know how many people it holds and what will the tix prices be like? hopefully cheaper than NY

the place is not too too big, i've seen lots of concerts there (including my first coldplay concert ever :wacky:. oh, memories...). it's one of those "shed" vnues where the stage and all the seats are under a pavillion open to the air and the lawn seats are uncovered at the back. obviously we'll all want to get close, so i don't think i need to say DON'T GET LAWN SEATS.

ooh, i found this

The Dodge Music Center is a major open air concert facility in Hartford's North Meadows. The center has a total seating capacity of 30,000 which includes 7500 indoor seats. The center hosts big name concerts each year that include everything from James Taylor to Blink 182 to the Dave Matthews Band.

wow, only 7500 under the pavillion...i guess they can fit a LOT more people on the strip of lawn than i thought :stunned:

but it's generally a nice venue if you get decent seats in the center (on the sides the sound can be a bit funny, but it's not the worst thing in the world), and i'm SO pumped they're coming back to CT when i can go! (last summer, i was in england when they were here, ironically standing in front of the bakery itself while they were in my 'hood, and now they're coming just a few months before i leave for england again! it might be my last american coldplay show for a good number of years :P)

anyway, rant over :P

Thanks for the info Chelsea! It sounds like it's a pretty small venue then (as long as you're not on the lawn)-- I can't wait!!

SQQQUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE:dance:

The "tri-state area crew":D, I like it, we're a crew LOL

Wow, Chelsea thanks for that info--7500 seats:stunned:. We better get good seats:bomb: So you're recommending getting seats in the 200 or 600sec, rather than the sides??? Even if they're close to stage?

aww, am i in the tri-state crew? :wacky: (even though i spend most of my time these days in stinky central PA and i'm becoming an expat?)

hmm, well ideally, get close to the stage in the center :P. but no, the first time i was there seeing coldplay, i was relatively close to the stage but on the side (as far to the right as you could get ) and it wasn't so bad. the sound was sliiiightly wonky and the floor was pretty much flat like it would be in a stadium, but that doesn't mean that you should reject any side seats you get if they're close to the stage! for me, close to the stage is my #1 priority, and i think most of you would agree :D.

wow! thanks Chelsea for all the info! your'e a wealth of knowledge

 well thanks. i have more where that came from, especially regarding parking and all that for this venue...DON'T PARK IN THE MASSIVE VENUE PARKING LOT. it'll take you hours to get out of it. most of the local businesses around open up their smaller parking lots on concert dates, and though it can be a 5-10 minute walk to the venue, you will save an hour at LEAST in the post-concert traffic in the parking lot. i'd also say wear closed-toed shoes for the walk, since it can be dusty and broken bottle filled :P. (this is all info that i've learned from my mom, who is the ultimate authority on concerts, though i've experienced all this myself and i know she's right!)

anyway, as far as seats go, most seats in the place (besides lawn seats) are fairly good ones, since it's so small. i saw pearl jam from near the back of the venue this past summer (though in real seats, not the lawn) and the view, while not as close as i'd have liked, was still miles better than sitting in a non-floor seat in an arena. so, if you're forced to get something in the middle or the back of the seated part of the venue, don't dispair too too much, since it's probably going to be better than an arena no matter where you sit :D

aww, am i in the tri-state crew? :wacky: (even though i spend most of my time these days in stinky central PA and i'm becoming an expat?)

Definitely, we didn't have CT represented yet! :P

Yay we will have to meet up!! :nice:

awesome! thanks, Chelsea, do you think the pre-sale will be good? everytime i do them the seats are not so great. i guess we should check it out and then decide

i've never done a coldplay presale before, or a presale where i don't have a distinct advantage. my mom is a member of the offical pearl jam fanclub, so when we do presales for concerts for them, we have a huge advantage which usually translates into much better seats (THIS IS WHY COLDPLAY NEEDS AN OFFICIAL FAN CLUB . my mom always tells me to drop out of school and start one up . she's only half kidding :P). but with the MA presale that went on a few weeks ago through the same website, it seemed as though people were getting pretty good seats! i'm optimistic, i think, but i'm a noob to this kind of ticket buying (though if it was ticketmaster, i'd write a big tutorial for everyone on how to get the best seats :P).

oh, and just another word of caution: in sections 100, 300, 400 and 800, avoid being on the sides (close to the walls) unless you're very close to the stage. when i saw coldplay there, i was in section 100, row Z (so a few rows farther back than i originally put the yellow circle on my chart...whoops), and your view can be severely compromised...i don't think i saw guy the whole night, even though i was decently close to the stage. type in section 100, row Z in the 3D seating guide and i think you'll see what i mean.

so: in sections 100 and 400, avoid being in LARGE seat numbers (i.e. 139), and in sections 300 and 800, avoid being in SMALL seat numbers (i.e. 1). i think i have that right, anyway :P

i hope i'm being helpful and not know-it-all-y :uhoh: :P

Thanks Chelsea, don't worry, your help is absolutely appreciated!! Hopefully we will all have great seats, and obviously an amazing time. :)

ok chelsea, could you please come to ny and organize my life for me? :laugh3: wow!! you will probably be running a fortune 500 company by the time you are 22. i dont know what we would have done witout all your info!! we will buy you some ice cream when we see you. i just thought of something, does this place come with a roof that will suspend yellow balloons and butterflies? i am a freak, and i am over thinking this hehehehehe

! oh christa, really :P. i'm just saying what i know, and what i know are concerts in medium to big venues (though i've got NOTHING on angie, who is the ultimate veteran). and besides, all i want to do is work for coldplay anyway :wacky:. and write novels :P.

yes, this place has a roof :D. there were yellow balloons when i saw them there in 2005, so no worries! and i anticipate butterflies everywhere too :flutterby:.

I was actually thinking about that as well... it's not a Coldplay show without butterflies and balloons!

well if they don't hire you after the amazing postcards project, i dont know who they would hire! have a great weekend

Thanks for the intel, Chelsea.

I am assuming Live Nation is handling the ticket selling for this concert, I'm more of an expert with Ticketmaster so this is going to throw me for a new one. The site has been kind of wonky sometimes since they have only started selling tickets since January. If anyone is desperate for a really good seat, I would try for a single ticket to see what comes up.

Nothing great on the secondary market yet, so it doesn't seem like too many people have a season pass for the venue.

What's the game plan for this venue otherwise?
