What steps do you take before you brush your teeth?

My friends think this is strange but I put water on my toothbrush first, then put the toothpaste on. I always use cold water as well.

Alot of people seem to put their toothpaste on first and then put water on the toothbrush and toothpaste. I don't like this method because of the increased risk of accidently washing the toothpaste off your brush before it gets to your mouth.

I don't know why your friends would find it weird to put water first... I always rinse my toothbrush before putting toothpaste on it. I rinse my toothbrush again after I finish brushing my teeth, but that isn't an option, so I'll choose the second option ("water, then toothpaste, then brush your teeth").

i have no idea. she didnt say why.....maybe it had something to do with the fact that that was when they found out i needed a filling...:uhoh:

so annoying! i brush my teeth everynight! and i thought i did a good job! :(

I don't understand why your dentist wouldn't want you to use water... That doesn't make any sense. Unless the water was really dirty or something...? Doesn't your toothbrush get a little dirty or dry if you never put it under water? I would think that one would have to rinse it at least sometimes..

I know what you mean about doing a good job and getting a cavity anyway. Some people are lucky: They don't brush their teeth well or anything, but they never get cavities! Life is unfair that way...

Last dentist appointment they told me my brushing has improved haha.

They tell me that I don't brush a certain area well enough. :( I can't really describe where... Towards the back, I guess?

One pet peeve is people who waste so much water...like they leave the tap running full blast the whole time. Such a waste.

Yeah, that's stupid.

Oh, oops. Haha, that was stupid of me. I guess I thought that it could get dirty or dry after being rinsed, and then you wouldn't rinse before your next brush, so you would have brush with it all dry or whatever (terribly worded sentence there). I suppose, though, that one could rinse the toothbrush and let it dry before brushing...but I don't think that anyone would do this.

I'm not making any sense... I need to stop now. :P I still don't understand why your dentist told you that.

Oh, I had five fillings done on December and January. I had not gone to the dentist in almost 5 years. My mom got a better job that offers a dental plan.

Oh my... That sounds horrid. Anyone could get a cavity from not going to the dentist for that long, I would think.

THIS. Every time I go to the dentist, they tell me UR DOIN IT WRONG! YOU FORGOT BACK. Then I brush more at the back. Go to the dentist. UR DOIN IT WRONG, YOU FORGOT BASE OF TOOTH, or UR DOIN IT WRONG, YOU FORGOT GUM. Well shit bitch! I'm TRYING to cover everywhere when I brush but I don't exactly want to be standing there for an hour making sure I got everywhere. Gawd.

Haha, your post made me laugh. P: I know what you mean. I feel the exact same way as the bolded. So annoying... I think it was the front of the back in particular that they were told me I wasn't doing well. They gave me a tip, but I actually think I was probably doing what the tip was in the first place...

Since we're on the topic, do you guys floss? I'm very lazy about that. I can never do it right...

I wet my toothbrush with water first before putting on toothpaste too because I don't like having the bristles all hard and icky, but I don't want my toothpaste to be all watery either.

I hate brushing my teeth. I mean, of course I do it, but it's so strenuous to try to clean as best as you can. And don't get me started on flossing and rinsing with fluoride/mouthwash...

No. Breaking that stuff off without scissors or some crap is DEATH.

Or maybe I just suck

The silver thingy on the floss box doesn't work for you?

They tell me that I need to floss every time I see them! Very bothersome.
