Coldplay 'Story' concept album

Featured Replies

I *think* too that Prospekt could be the main character...Hasn't Chris said he hadn't finish with him??? (or I'm just hallucinating...XD)

As for th the 'stripped down' thing...I don't know...It would make sense if they reaching to do small venues again (as chris said in the article) but on the other hand, when you read Miller's comments on the new material, it seems more epic and with a 'wild sound' to me...(plus J, G&W are experimenting a lot of stuff with Eno, who's not known for a low key...)

Anyway, I woud love anything they come up with  Pity, we'll have to wait a few years to hear that baby...:/

Sounds like great news, maybe a cool double album in the future . Their new wild side and a stripped down one to boot!!

I think the Prospekt idea could really work, Prospekt's March may just be the intro to a whole new Coldplay :o.

Oh yes! A double album would be awesome! But I hope they don´t make a bad album because they only choose songs that fit to their story and discard the others. If you onlly focus on composing songs for a certain topic, you don´t have "access" to your whole creativity.

I hope you understand what I wanted to say...:D

Yes I do understand, but I doubt Coldplay are ones to do that. They have a lot, A LOT of people around them who are talented musicians and producers, they do have a reputation to uphold after all :D!

They are talking about releasing it in a new way, and we know they dabble in the painting, could be a point where they infuse all their creativity in one bundle of frickin' epicness .

Honestly I think restrictions really proves whether someone is talented or not.

If they are working based on a theme, then they will have to find new ways to make sure what they are producing is something really good. It will be like a challenge for them..

And at the end, if they manage to work under such restriction and stillt produce good album then it will prove that Coldplay are really a creative bunch...Better than what we expected them to be :)

I dont know if anyone's getting what I'm trying to say..but that's my 2 cents :)

The story really doesnt maer to me as long as it's great music.

Also, what up with Chris talking about possibly never making an CD again.. because who knows how long they'll be around. Or doing something "revolutionary".

I never quite get what idea he has in mind.

and based upon this story idea which I can't talk about because it might be bad.

HAHAHAHAHA.

God, I HOPE they don't hype up this album quite so much... Sounds interesting. Probably you won't be able to tell it's based on a story. I mean, Viva La Vida was supposed to sound all foriegn and crazy and look where THAT one went :P

 He has a million ideas at a time and we'll never know what he'll decide to do. I remembered he said they release an album at the end of this year to round up the decade. That is definitely not happening now :inquisitive:

Maybe they're gonna go in the folkly direction..

Goldrush, Death Will Never Conquer, Dubliners, Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground, even Prospekt's March kind of.

Plus, I think those are the songs that are the most narrative or whatever.

I'd be majorly disappointed.

Jonny says "There's a possibility of being a more acoustic record," guitarist Jonny Buckland says of the next Coldplay album. "But that still remains a possibility rather than a certainty."

HMMMMMMMMM.

Thing is, they said on the last album that most of the songs were written on acoustic guitars. That they started out organically and were then built them up into synth driven epics. So it could simply be that most of the songs they've written are in that preliminary acoustic stage, and might later turn out unrecognizably different.

Yeah... you're right.

I think I'd feel really good about a more acoustic album, but then I'd miss the big sound.

Plus, I don't think acoustic would go over as well with the public.

Unless they go for more 'intimate' tour with small venues as Chris suggested...

Personnally, I would love that but getting tickets would probably mean NIGHTMARE!! :\

I hope they use as many different instruments as they did in the Viva album, that was awesome. They had a Hammer Dulcimer for LiT and that Church Bell going for Viva La Vida, that was awesome, and the Strings throughout many of the songs. All their music is fantastic, I just hope they get a new album out soon, as in, in the next year or two. It'll be awesome to have some new music, and knowing them it'll be amazing.
