thanks for all your kind words... really, thank you...

the worst thing is, it's my birthday on july 7th - and it would've been his birthday on that day as well. since january i said that i wished he'd made it till that day just once more... well, it was close...

Aww, he looks adorable in your avi. And I'm so sorry to hear that, I can't imagine losing my dog. :(

Have you watched the movie Marley & Me? It ends with a similar situation- sometimes when you're grieving, it's good to see other people trying to handle the same kind of situation.

I have always had pets in my life since the day I was born. When I was seven we had to put both my dog and cat to sleep on the same day. The biggest heartache for me was when I was 15 my dog who had just turned six the month before had been having trouble walking and we didn't know what was wrong and while I was in North Carolina the vet called and said he had a brain tumor and needed to be put down right away. I couldnt even say goodbye which broke my heart into a million pieces. A lot of people told me "it's just a dog" but its not its losing a family member and no one can tell me differently. There is no certain time frame on how long you should grieve losing something or someone you love. Take your own time and just remember how much you love your dog and that you know he will be going to a better place. It's been nine years since the loss of my beloved dog and I still have framed pictures of him in my room and I still think about him everyday and about how much he taught me about life. Anyways, I'm sorry for your pain and know how you feel. I hope you find comfort in knowing that your dog knows how much you and your family loved him and how much he loves you.

^not yet... of course he wanted to, but i'm not sure if i want to see anyone at the moment.

we'll see... maybe tonight, or tomorrow, i don't know.

I know i'll be quite devastated when my 3-year-old doggy dies but i hope that won't happen in a long time.

We just got a new puppy yesterday and it's weird to think that some day he'll be old too..

I'm so sorry you have to go through this... :(

It's happened to me too with my cat... I don't really remember the week after it but when I got back to uni (he was put down around Christmas) it kind of got better because I had so many other things on my mind...

I cried a lot at night however, thinking about what could have been if we had had him checked by the vet earlier... But it does wear off as time goes by.

I made a huge photo album of him, it's nice to have something like that to remember. maybe that could help you too some time...

all the best for you

Awww, he is so cute.

They get old before you know it and then you think "Where did the time go?".

I've been through a lot of animals. I had one cat name Tootsie...she was the coolest cat in the world. She lived to be 21 years old. When she died, I had her ashes cremated and I put her urn on my window sill. Ever since she died, I'm just not a cat person anymore. I like cats...but not as much as I use to.

Sarah I'm so sorry about your dog and I understand how you feel because I've been through it too. My 1st dog was put down at home at the age of 12 and a half. He was going blind and deaf and he was on medication, (I can't remember what it was for). He chipped his shoulder while he was coming up the steps that day.

I'm so sorry for your lost, Sarah. Just know that your dog is in a better place and that his spirit is with you always, and that you two will meet again.

Right now I am reading a book by Sylvia Brown called All Pets Go To Heaven. It's quite interesting.

Im so sorry for your dog :(
