Do you need an "Enemy"?

Featured Replies

I was thinking about this;

"He who wrestles with us strengthens our nerves and sharpens our skill. Our antagonist is our helper."

Edmund Burke

Does having an "enemy" make you stronger or better?

Choose your enemies carefully 'cos they will define you

Make them interesting 'cos in some ways they will mind you

They're not there in the beginning but when your story ends

Gonna last with you longer than your friends

Yea but I don't really have any since I'm a forgiving, live and let live sort of person.

Yes, working to beat somebody is very motivating.

I'm too broke for that. and too lazy to download it illegally.

I think I agree an "enemy" makes you stronger, and I realized I don't have any enemies, which is odd and may sound odd but I kinda want one. I feel I've tiptoed around like a bitch always caring what people think and making everyone happy and its made me weak. I'm ready to do what I want and deem necessary within reason and if it pisses anyone off and I make enemies then I know I'm doing something.

"You have no enemies, you say?

Alas, my friend, the boast is poor;

He who has mingled in the fray

Of duty, that the brave endure,

Must have made foes! If you have none,

Small is the work that you have done.

You've hit no traitor on the hip,

You've dashed no cup from perjured lip,

You've never turned the wrong to right,

You've been a coward in the fight."

Obligatory.

I would prefer to not have an enemy. Maybe a friendly competitor, but never an enemy.

Sometimes I'll choose to just stop talking to someone, and I quit hanging out with them. But that's pretty rare, and it's just a decision on my part because they weren't a net-positive influence on my life. They think I'm their enemy, but they flatter themselves. I just grew tired of them.

Obligatory.

I KNEW somebody was gonna post that! Why'd it have to be you?!?! :cry:

I already have an enemy.

Myself, I'm my own worst enemy.

How does that work for ya?

I can imagine,any battle scars?
