Do you think Chris could sing Amsterdam right now?

I think it would be a travesty. :(

awww snap fitz :hippy:

good one!

but why are you being so harsh?

they changed for the better in some of those things

Guy cant be an alcoholic for ever :blank:

it's not healthy at all.

plus people grow up and realize they have priorities,

like a child, wife, family for that matter.

if he didn't stop drinking to get drunk by now,

i probably would have called him immature and not liked Coldplay anymore

for my own personal views on drinking and past.

and chris can hit the high notes,

you do realize that they've been on tour for like ever.

it tends to take a toll on people after a while? :dozey:

i think they're doing a great job

Your opinion is COMPLETELY biased. You started listening to them POST-VLV. You never even listened to them before VLV. Your opinion does not matter.

After all, it's opinion. :D ;)

Expanding into other genres is one of the hardest things to do.

I hear a track from Parachutes - it's written Coldplay all over it.

I hear a track from Viva La Vida - it's written Coldplay all over it.

In my opinion, there's nothing to critize, as after all we still listen to the same band.

They do sound different, yea, that's great.

I don't want to listen to a band that makes the same music over and over again.

This could be done by many people, but to sound different and still have a little thing (may it be the kind of playing the guitar) that makes a track automatically connected to the band.

This isn't possible by many people.

Personal preference. You can't argue with that.

Someone can tell you a million reasons why a song is good, if it's not your cup of tea and you think it's shit. Then you'll most likely continue to think it's shit.

Why?

They used to be rock, now they're pop.

They use to be endearingly self-depricating, now it just seems insincere.

Chris used to hang out with Tim from Ash, now it's Jay-Z.

Guy used to be a raging alcohol diva, now he just takes photos.

It used to go "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for", now it goes "those who are dead are not dead, they're just living in my head."

They used to wear pants and a t-shirt, now they wear costumes.

Jonny used to have his amazing slide solos, now he gets nothing.

Chris used to idolize Radiohead, now he idolizes Beyonce.

Chris used to be able to hit all the notes, now he just dances.

Add on to the list you guys.

I'm sorry but you just won at life ;_;

edit: Um, can I try adding? it used to be nothing else compared, now it's just a perfect day.

also... nevermind I'm bad at these. :P

If he actually sat down and stopped dancing like a retard I bet you he could. He's not like Bono, his voice hasn't deteriorated nearly as much because he never sings as strenuously. Your voice has to be completely wrecked to ruin your falsetto, as it's one of the easiest ways to sing for someone who is good at it.

I haven't. I just accept that they are who they are. If I want different music, I listen to different bands. If I want to listen to Coldplay, I listen to Coldplay. I don't get why more people don't try that instead of complaining all the time and wishing Coldplay would be something they're not.

Your avatar sucks.

I think he could, there's stuff we've heard from soundchecks and during the promo stuff where his voice is still just as powerful.

He could only do it if he hadn't been running around for the last hour and a half though. I can see why he thinks he needs to be the big, over the top star when he's playing these massive gigs, but I agree he needs to find a happy medium and realise that we'll still be entertained with less of the theatrics.

:angry:WHAT!?! WHY NOT!

and no its not biased.

^^^For once I agree with Mrs. BigSig

:wink3: woo!

i agree with you!

eventually bands need to experiment with new sounds and sometimes new genres.

and yeah i do think he can sing amsterdam.

maybe not while jumping around

but if he was sitting down playing the piano by himself i think he'd be fine

I dunno, maybe.

I agree, if the running around was totally random, it would be sort of entertaining. But everything is the same every night. They have this problem where they think they need to give the fans so much. They're coming to your show cause they want the music, not cause you can dance rather poorly.

Hm.

Well, they just changed over the time. They're trying all the new things, and there's not enough space for the old stuff. They want to be better than they were before, louder and more bombastic. They're at their exploding state right now.

You're right with most of your points, but it seems that you're showing them in a rather bad way. I say they are just more different now than they were during the parachtues/AROBTTH/X&Y-era. Chris seems more self-confident, not as scared and 'hiding-behind-the-piano'-ish as before, you know.

I think it will change with the next album. Maybe they're gonna leave the top of the mountain and start at it's foot again. I believe they are on the right way.

I dunno, maybe.

THIS.

It's so over-rehearsed it's pathetic. It was similar during the Twisted Logic tour. They do the same thing every night. I don't know how they can stand it.

great

Wtf is wrong with you?

nothing i just don't care.

People like you make me sick, seriously.

:angry:WHAT!?! WHY NOT!

Rofl you are so damn ignorant if you think your opinion isn't biased. Before VLV you had NEVER listened to Coldplay. You NEVER experienced that.

It's like someone watching Super Bowl 44, and saying it was the best super bowl ever, even though they never actually watched a super bowl before.

I haven't. I just accept that they are who they are. If I want different music, I listen to different bands. If I want to listen to Coldplay, I listen to Coldplay. I don't get why more people don't try that instead of complaining all the time and wishing Coldplay would be something they're not.

Exactly.

Got bored of them, go listen to other bands instead of bashing them.

After all, it's only few months till they get back to their cave again!

Love your user title Ab!

Thanks!

Geez, the list is a little harsh... I mean the boys aren't going to stay exactly the same are they... it's been 10 years! As for 'they used to be friends with Ash, now it's Jay Z & Beyonce blah blah... did you ever stop to think that maybe he is STILL friends with Ash? You can have more than one friend you know! Yes, his friendship with Jay Z and Beyonce may get more headlines than him hanging out with someone from Ash, but doesn't mean he changed friends. I'd be a little worried if he only had the same friends number of friends as he did 10 years ago!

As for Guy, I suspect he still drinks - hence the need for a detox farm after the Australian tour! :laugh3:

^Yea lol they're English/Scottish, they'll never go sober.

Tell that to his growing forehead.

STOP! Don't remind me! :\

Good points though... I think who he married made him friends with those kinds of famous people, IMO.

"In 2003, it was leaked to the music and tabloid press that Ash were working on a horror film described as a 'teen slasher'. The film, called Slashed, was shot while the band were on tour in America but some scenes were also shot in the UK. The screenplay, written by Jed Shepherd and directed by Alexander Marks included star roles by Chris Martin (Sherbet Bones) and Jonny Buckland (Agent Ford) of Coldplay as a pair of FBI agents hired to track down a supernatural serial killer. Other star performances include that of Moby, James Nesbitt, Dave Grohl and Ash themselves.[2] The film was much hyped due to the celebrity performances but it was never generally released to the public and is currently being held in storage. Rumours circulated that certain scenes were too gory and would not be suitable for Ash's audience, but it was also said that Chris Martin vetoed its release due to scenes of him running around in his boxer shorts, covered in blood, fighting demons which may have been detrimental to his new celebrity status."

What a big shot. :dozey:
