Obama to Give Speech to School Students

Featured Replies

Hey Nick, guess what. I said I vote based on SOCIAL ISSUES. I could scour the internet and read some great articles to back up my point-of-view and then post them here and call them facts. Your facts about Obama's spending are true. Ok. I'l give you that.

But please get off your high fucking horse when it comes to the economy being worse off. We are slowly but surely trying to build back up. That cannot be denied. You are talking about people guessing where the economy is going to go. No one really knows what's going to happen. THAT'S the fact jack. Chill out and stop condescending me. I tried to call a truce and you hit me with your most recent message.

I can send you thousands of reports and data on everything that is going on the economy now and in the past and how it is worse. I can send you a million charts and the numbers to prove my point.

Economics is a science, a doctor could probably accurately tell you if all you do is drink, smoke and use cocaine you're going to have a medical problem, that was not just his person opinion but backed up by research and data. Like that, we can see trends and policies in the past and what they do in the future. That is how I can say were going to have more trouble in the next 20 years.

Nick, I've got to log off in 5 minutes. Let's please let it go bro. We are never going to see eye to eye on Obama. Let it be, Let it be, Let it be, Let it be...................................

I don't think its that deep though.. I think he's just going to talk about hope and how the future is theirs for the taking... like an inspirational speaker. I don't think he is taking or planning on taking control of the schools across the country, unless I am misunderstanding your statement..

the government has ALWAYS controlled what we learn in schools.. so really, there's no new thing here.. as far as curriculum is concerned. Whats so wrong about a little boy or girl looking up to a Black man who is the President of the United States?

maybe I am stupid... meh.

You had to put black in there, right?

I dont recall refuting the fact that he has spent any more or less... but you insist on "arguing"... lol I dont have time for petty shit.. sorry!

discuss, talk about it... thats what a message board is for. Not for force feeding information and tension. :)

in order to fix the big damage, unfortunately... you might have to spend a lot. Its going to get worse before it gets better. Yes, I said worse... downward spiral, bottom of the bucket... BUT it will get better. :)

African-American, Hawaiian, Kansasian, how ever you look at it... he's a minority... as am I... which is why I think its significant. Ask your grandparents, or parents for that matter... who might have been around for the Civil Rights movements.. its a HUGE step... even though racism still exists... I think its a beautiful thing. Not racism but the overall accomplishment... he said it himself in his speech on Election night.

Viva Sotomayor too! Latina, woman, NYer! You go girrrrl.

If you don't know anything about what the debate is about, don't say anything. Its quite simple, there are people on here who like to exchange ideas and back them up.

If you don't have a clue what is going on, there are a couple thousand other threads that can use your opinion. It makes you look ignorant if you try to debate than run away because you cannot back up your views.

If you don't know anything about economics and business cycles, how can you intelligently say anything about it?

I wrote a paper on this. How we've taken a major step forward in electing a non white president. But I fear with him being such a horrible president ignorant people will use that as an excuse not to vote for a Black man, or Hispanic or Asian as president in the future.

But its also ignorant to vote for someone just because of their race/religion.

I wasn't debating.. I was stating my opinion. I can do that, as can you. I'm not badgering people and berating them because they don't spend all day on the internet looking for articles to post on Coldplaying to try and make others feel stupid or ignorant because they don't. :) -my job here is to moderate... so forgive me if I found a more constructive thread to participate in

chill kid.... I'm a lover.. not a fighter. :wink3:

Nick, opinions do matter my friend. I have an opinion. Camille has an opinion. They are not wrong or right. They are right to us. So be it. I may not have a degree in Economics and I do not pretend to know much about it. I know what is right and what is wrong. Obama is not a bad person. I am glad that he is in office. I am hopeful for the change he could bring to the country. If that keeps me going every day so be it. You have no idea what it was like to live for 8 years of your life under a president who wanted to pass a const. amendment to make me a second class citizen. You get very arrogant towards people when they disagree with you. Camille and I are one of the few who do. You have a whole fucking glee club at your disposal. Cut us a little slack for fuck sake.

this is the last exchange on the matter with you.. for reals!

I didn't vote on race alone.. nimrod. I voted on the message he gave me.. how he as a person, as an American, made me feel. Can YOU not read? Maybe you're one of those people who is afraid that one day... the minorities are becoming the majority?? just sayin... :nice:

ok I'm done... run along now child.. play nice. :nice:

oh and ps- I missed ya Aaron!!!!

I missed you tons:kiss: I recently got back on the board somewhat regularly. How often you check in here?

Got to run out. you Camille:kiss:

Hey! Teacher! Leave those kids alone!

One part of my state has decided not to broadcast Obama's speech.

I don't know but Obama is trying.:\

It's not the state, just some ISDs.

I don't know but Obama is trying.:\

not that I agree with the whole Obama/internet thing... but I can see where its plausible for the govt to hold that much 'pull'... but not on a state level.. still possible though..

ahh thank you for that. ;)

Everyone chill out. And in order to that listen to this:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvtw-n9ynqw]YouTube - Dave Matthews Band - Satellite[/ame]

Obama is getting national government far too involved in public school affairs with this speech.

We need more passive action like the No Child Left Behind Act.
