18th at Wembley was dissapointing

Featured Replies

Went to Wembley on the 18th. A good deal of the crowd were leaving before the end and it was a sign that it was only an OK concert. 90 minutes? I think we deserve better/more than that. CP don't need support acts, we just need to see more of them. Maybe the big venue didn't help...

well that's unfortunate

Went to Wembley on the 18th. A good deal of the crowd were leaving before the end and it was a sign that it was only an OK concert. There lots of pauses and not enough energy ( and a backing track for keyboards sometimes). And 90 minutes? I think we deserve better/more than that. I thought the boys were a bit self indulgent - it's for the fans after all - and we didn't pay to see Simon Pegg, even though I like him. CP don't need support acts, we just need to see more of them. I was really only 90 minutes long? Wow. :shocked2: Simon Pegg was there?

Awe, wow, maybe they are just really tired. I think this must be their biggest tour ever... must have taken alot out of them. But yeah, if I was you, I'd be dissapointed tooo! :\

Maybe that was deliberately in order to make today's show sound much-much better? Perhaps that is not fair to fans,but...there's sense in that!

Simon Pegg came on for one song and played one short harmonica piece that lasted about 30 seconds during a song... Hardly a support or a real part of the show! If that bothered you so much then i don't want to offend you but it sounds like you're just grumbling about nothing. It was supposed to be a little bit of fun. Don't take life so seriously!

As for some pauses - it's a life show with Chris leaping around everywhere, guitar changes etc. Of course there are going to a few pauses. I love the fact they do a little a set at the back of the stadium. Yes, it takes a few minutes to get there and back but it's a great thing to do for the people at the back who have restricted views.

Quit grumbling and be glad you got to go!

I seriously don't care if simon pegg was there or not but it's not like he was on stage and coldplay were not. I didn't even realised until somebody said it that he is there.

Sorry that you found it disappoiting..but no need to have a own thread for that as you also posted that already in the live section.

Guess this one can be closed.

P.

wtf?

You should be glad Coldplay is even going on such a big tour, JUST FOR US!

What did I say wrong? I just thought they were tired. Sorry :\

I didn't go, so idk how active they were, but I bet they were, for their fans. :)

No I agree with you.

You're right, I shouldn't grumble about Simon Pegg. It was a nice part of the show and reminded of seeing CP in camden a long time ago, I guess I don't like big stadium tours. I'm still sorry they only did 90 mins though, it took me longer than that to get out of Wembley!

90 minutes? Is that possible if there were so many pauses and with the full tracklist?

Man, I would travel all over the Universe just to see them :D

A trip to London would've been nothing, but my folks didn't seem to agree :laugh3:

Okay, first of all, sorry you have so much to complain about.

But just a few things to say.

90 minutes isn't really that bad for a concert. They've been playing almost every night, all over the world, and they can't do a three hour show every night. Plus, that might've just been because they played quickly and things went well. You can't base it on time, you have to base it on the length of the setlist.

People were probably leaving early because not everyone's an enormous Coldplay fan. Most of the people at the four shows I went to left halfway through DAAHF because they'd just bought tickets to see VLV or something. It's stupid, yeah, but you can't base your entire night on the audience. You have to base it on the music (as corny as that sounds). And they had support acts because they're their friends. Simon Joined them last year and it was a big hit, so they thought they'd do it again. Simon's awesome and he didn't take any time away from the boys performing songs by himself or whatever, so I don't see what's wrong with him being there. Jay-Z was there because he's great friends with the guys and recorded Lost+ with them on a CD. I honestly thought the performance of Lost+ was spectacular. Jay-Z's pretty cool.

And I think we all could've done without GA but..... Chris Jon Guy and Will are men.:laugh3:

Just thought I'd state my opinion.

Most people will have left early because (like me) they had a fair distance to travel home by public transport. If I hadn't left early I wouldn't have got home.

The show was also longer than 90 minutes, though Coldplay shows seem to pass by so quickly perhaps it just felt like that?

Anything else you are disappointed with I can sympathise with.

That's why I went by car. It was definitely the right decision, as I had no pressure to rush off afterwards, and as I was there so early, I was able to find a prime "free" parking spot about ten minutes' walk away.:D

I know I would be dissapointed too but... I would still be greatful I got to even see them, I mean, I can't imagine people that would really want to see them and can't afford too. As I said I would say dissapointment, but I know they wouldn't intentionally put us down. :bigcry:

And if people were leaving before the show was over why would they play more than 90 minutes, what would be the point? I'd say the crowd dissapointed them too. :\

If people left early because of public transportation problems, you should be blaming London Underground/network rail, not them.;)

yeah I left my show (In Mansfield MA) just a minute or two early (so I didn't really miss anything, I saw them do there famous-four-some-bow) and I got to collect my free CD and get out in about 5 minutes.

The whole day's schedule for the 19th could have been shifted forward half an hour saving a lot of people coming in by train from out of town worry about getting home. Less people would have had to leave early then (myself and friends and relatives amongst them).

That said, at huge events like this a fair number of people will always leave early just to avoid the mass of people at the end.

Plus the situation was exacerbated by the closure/part-closure of some of the tube lines. That's what decided it for me in the end.

How are people supposed to be encouraged not to drive if they keep doing things like that? It's a joke.

Yes. It's the same at football matches. If that's the case, it's their loss.;)

Why do you make a topic about this? You could have just expressed your opinion in the topic about this show.

And it's too bad you didn't like the show, but maybe you'll like the shows on next tour more.
