so over the entire summer i listened to "the hardest part" pretty much nonstop, especially the lrlrl version of the hardest part/postcards. i feel such a strong connection to the lyrics, and the music in general is just brilliant and beautiful.

anyone else feel a connection to this song?

awesome! ps, i absolutely LOVE your signature picture!

...is letting go, not taking part...

This is one of my all-time favourite Coldplay songs. I don't know why it gets such a bad rap overall, but I think the VLV Tour version converted some ;)

definitely!!!! for me it's also the LRLRL version.... listening to it as we speak, since I'm in a "listening-to-it-non-stop" – phase myself. it's such a beautiful song and the lyrics are incredible.... I could cry every single time I listen to it, which I do most times^^

I think they should have recorded it as a piano ballad ... the X&Y version sounds way too happy for the lyrics. The LRLRL version is epic ...

haha yeah i totally know what you mean! in x&y it's like "ooooh the hardest part! let's dance and stuff woo!" the lrl is just so... somber. so gorgeous aahh!

I like both versions, I like that the X&Y version is like a cover-up, ha!

It's sadder lyrics with a happy tone ;)

love the piano right at the end, bout 4 mins, so emotive

It always feels a little weird hearing the X&Y version ... you feel like dancing and the music is so happy and suddenly Chris sings "you really broke my heart" ... okaaayy ... I think that's the reason why the band doesn't seem to like this song.

by the way, does anyone have any more info. on the "christmas lights" possible single? i'm dying to know more about it! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMdJldKMnBQ&feature=related]YouTube - Coldplay 2009 Christmas Album Preview of Song 'Christmas Lights' As Seen on 60 Minutes[/ame]

The first time I listened to it, I instantly fell in love with the lyrics.

"And the hardest part, was letting go and not taking part..."

It's so cliche, yet not at the same time. I love it so much.

whoever said that the viva/lrlrl version converted people is totally one hundred percent right!

I've always liked the song, but I think the meaning and emotion of the song really shows through in the piano version than the original version. Listening to the song in concert one can really feel the emotion of the lyrics. Of course, the way Chris sings it really hits the heart. He sings it with more sadness that it touches the soul. The piano version, IMO, makes you wanna stop and think. It's simply a beautiful song.

I listen to this song at least 2 times every day. It has certainly gotten me through some tough times! Although, I am more fond of the LRLRL version.

i have a recording of "the hardest part" on my camera from the concert in San Francisco

the night i came back to mission viejo, i recall watching it at night while my friend slept and tearing up because i knew i wouldnt see anything that wonderful or be that happy for a very long time if ever again.
