January 5, 201016 yr The official timetables and maps have been released. http://bigdayout.com/news/newsletter.php?NewsletterId=33
January 5, 201016 yr Well, I got mine, off the fasterlouder.com.au site. Let's just say, I am pissed off. The black is my plan for the day... and the red is EVERYTHING I FRIGGIN MISS OUT ON OH MY GOD I AM ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, not angry. Cheated. Enjoyl.
January 5, 201016 yr I'm not too fond of the official timetable. I think there may be even more clashes than the fake on did! And I haven't even put into consideration what my sister wants to see.
January 5, 201016 yr Sydney's is much different? Compared to the Melbourne one? It's basically the same. Compared to the fake one however ... practicaly all the stages are mixed up. The order is different for quite a few acts. Hmm, I've just noticed that there's no mention of any "special appearance" anymore.
January 6, 201016 yr All I can say is, I'm glad I'll have already seen Eskimo Joe and Kasabian by the time the day comes around! A quick question about the merch stalls, are they open right until the end?
January 6, 201016 yr I feel like such a n00b when it comes to festivals. Damn you Muse for playing at Big Day Out!
January 6, 201016 yr Yeah fair point grace. I dunno, maybe wear the merch over top? And 182, why do you feel like a noob?
January 6, 201016 yr Yeah fair point grace. I dunno, maybe wear the merch over top? And 182, why do you feel like a noob? It's just ... different? I dunno, I'm just really use to going to normal gigs. With them, I know what time to get there, what to wear, where to be, what the situation with food & drinks is, when to get merch, how to get a good spot etc. Plus I don't have to go through as many other acts before I get see the band I like. :P
January 6, 201016 yr Yeah, festivals take planning, and it is difficult to get good spots-generally you have to get there early.. and it doesnt help that orange and blue are SO FAR from green and purple stages... other than that, you should be ok... just wear casual clothes with shoes. It may be hot, so beach clothes are generally good, with shoes tho cos you def need those. Food and drink is expensive. you can take some in, a very small backpack is fine, you will get it checked for alcohol tho.. so take unopened water. They do have free water stations, like drinkng fountains and such. Merch is a couple of stands around the grounds.. just purchase like u would for a normal gig. Any other q's?

Thank you! :) That's all I can think of at the moment. I think the only problem I'm gonna have on the day is having to stand through music I don't wanna listen to.
January 6, 201016 yr Well, that may happen if you get to wait for muse early. TBH, I really want to see muse, but I am not standing through the Mars Volta just to get a spot. I'll get there for powderfinger, because I like them... and just appreciate any spot I get...

Thanks Alex, very helpful for all us first-timers! :P I've just remembered, they have a cloaking room don't they? As annoying as it would be at the end of the night, it would be possible to buy stuff early and just put it there. I think the only problem I'm gonna have on the day is having to stand through music I don't wanna listen to. Me too :\ It's stupid, but for the sake of one band I'm going to bypass two others
January 6, 201016 yr Yeah, I am not sure of the cloaking facilities. Hey grace, is your plan relatively different to mine? We should catch some acts together, when I am left on my own for liking too-alternative music lol...
January 6, 201016 yr Well to be honest I don't know as many of them as you do :P but it's pretty similar, yeah. We definitely should! I'll just be by myself anyway, so that would be awesome :awesome: Well, that may happen if you get to wait for muse early. TBH, I really want to see muse, but I am not standing through the Mars Volta just to get a spot. I'll get there for powderfinger, because I like them... and just appreciate any spot I get... I'll save you a spot :laugh3:

I'll get there for powderfinger, because I like them... and just appreciate any spot I get... It's not necessarily the waiting for Muse part I'm worried about. Most of the time the support act for bands I like really suck! :P It's more of the fact I'm going with my sister and she listens to completely different music to me (most of the time) so I'll have to watch acts that her and her friends (she decided to invite with asking me) wanna watch. Bad comes to worse I'll just have to pull the "I'm the one who managed to get us Big Day Out tickets, so we listen to what I want" card on her. I'm probably coming off as a downright bitch. :embarassed:
January 6, 201016 yr ^^Haha, I would probably do the same thing with my brother/sister, and persuade them to come to the ones I want to see :P Mind you, they know even fewer bands than I do so they probably wouldn't need much convincing :P
January 6, 201016 yr Yeah that's always going to be a problem. I have 5 (now 6) different groups going that I know, and there's no way everyone likes the same thing.. you just have to find a good balance, and plan before you go. Also, factor in a good time for dinner!
