Well, here's the thing. I decided to not go to JET for two reasons:

1. Better spot for Muse. I get there way earlier if I watch lily Allen.

 

2. Lily allen may never tour again. I have all the time in the world to see JET again, they're bloody locals.

Off to see Kasabian tonight in their sideshow. Going to be incredible.

part of me does regret missing out on the Horrors but i had been dragging my mates around to all my favourite bands. neither of them have much concert/festival experience so they found it quite difficult to stay interested the whole time so i eventually gave in and let them have it their way, which was to get into the D early.

 

might take a different group next time around. not that it really matters. i spent the entire powderfinger and muse sets surrounded by strangers who were really cool and easy going.

WOO its today. Went to Kasabian last night, everyone was MAD for it. Such a good show. Incredible, perhaps. Got home at 1:30am lol and prob to sleep at 2:30... so sleep deprived for today!

Just got home. A MA ZING.

 

Muse, Kisschasy and Temper Trap moshes almost killed me. Went in for muse when dizzy played, and it payed off bigtime. I saw them in the mosh, VERY front center. Review and photos, and videos to come!

WOW, what a day! It was my first festival so I didn't really know what to expect, but it was by far the most fun I've had in a long time! The Temper Trap pit was insane, and being quite 'vertically challenged' didn't help when I was getting crushed by guys twice my size... I even had a crowd surfer dumped on me! But it paid off in the end as I got quite a good spot for the band. Definite highlights for me were Temper Trap, Powderfinger(even though I couldn't actually see them) and, of course, Muse. Getting into the D early really paid off, I ended up in about the 3rd row from the front, about 5m to the left of Matt's mic. The people around me didn't seem to get into it that much but I still had a fantastic time!

 

And Perrine, I think it ended up being around 30 degrees, so it wasn't all that bad... Hot enough to burn though!

personally i prefer being in what i like to call "the eye" of the pit. which is usually about 10 to 15 metres away from the barricade. anything closer usually leads to my frail skinny body being crushed like a grape and anything further back means i cant see a thing. its usually (from my experience at least) where the best moshing happens and being a mosh-addict, i love it!

Yeah, I probably would too! But I'm not much over 5 foot so I wouldn't be able to see a thing! :(

The festival started early with gates opening at 10:30am, at which around that time we entered the racecourse venue. I was amused rather early, without a note played by any band, when my existence as a human being was questioned… I got asked multiple times what my name was by the Proof of Age Wristband Staff… even with my licence in their hands. I think I looked a bit different than the photo, or otherwise I looked drunk already to them – I can blame that on getting home from the Kasabian gig the night before at 2am…

 

 

First band of the day was the synth-pop of local band Miami Horror (above). I felt like I was in a confusing time warp, their tracks sounded like 80’s flashbacks, nothing amazing or incredibly original musically, but good enough to dance to early in the day. That and the crowd were ridiculously young, and even made me feel old as a 20-year-old. The listeners, myself included, were clearly hanging out for smash hit Sometimes, which went off.

 

 

Had a bit of time to look around before the next band, so we checked out the merch and what was on offer around the Green and Converse stages, before settling down under a tree to watch Tame Impala on the Converse stage (above). They delivered a couple of songs, including my personal favourite Desire Be Desire Go to an unusually large crowd – which indicates the hype around the band’s release of their debut album in 2010. We caught a couple of songs before moving strategically to the Green stage to get a decent spot in the mosh for Kisschasy...
