Your Coldplay Story

Featured Replies

happy birthday darkchoc!

bohemiandaisy your story is so!sweet... I agree, some CP songs can really cheer you up!

my story: july 2002, I was having breakfast while watching MTV, and I heard this wonderful guitar line....it really caught me!and those beautiful blue eyes jumping all over the room....it was love at first sight!(don't need to say the song was "in my place"),some weeks later my sister borrowed from a friend "parachutes" and "arobtth"but after listening to them we ran to the shop and bought them....loved both album from beginning to end, and since then they are one of the soundtracks of my life, in good and bad moments...they ALWAYS have the right song and the right word for what I'm going through.

one of my best memories belongs to 2003, my first concert, I'll never forget it! I was in 3rd row, when Chris was about to leave the stage at the end of the concert I sent him a kiss and he smiled at me...sweet!

It feels like were in therapy

'Hi I'm Amy and I'm a coldplay addict'

'Hi Amy'-everybody:lol:

anyways

May 20,2008 during American Idol the VLV Itunes commercial aired (between 8-11 p.m EST)

I really liked the song and I saw Guy and I fell in love!!!!!!

I checked them out and loved alot of their songs

Liz told me about coldplaying :D

and here I am now:wacky:

i first heard them when i was 10 back in 2000. i loved yellow and trouble but the radio never named the band that played those songs.

fast forward to when AROBTTH was released

and i heard clocks...

i was with my family going somewhere and i was in the back seat (where fortunately i was closer to the speakers)

anyways i got goosebumps and chills. that has NEVER happened to me for ANY song ive ever heard, even to this day.

i remember thinking "this is the most beautiful song i have ever heard in my life"

and i as i looked out the back seat window, i was fully enjoying this amazing song.

but it would take the video for the scientist to let me know (finally) that the band i was loving was called Coldplay. i wrote down the name of the band on the palm of my hand I immidiately went to buy AROBTTH before the ink washed off. =)

my cousin later told me that they were also the band who played yellow and trouble

and THAT mystery was solved too.

i guess i have always loved them , even though i did not know it at first. =)

I had been waiting around in science class, waiting for the bell to ring when I looked over and saw this girl with a Viva La Vida Tour shirt on. I guess the idea stuck in my head because next time I was searching for new music I ended up typing Coldplay. Now, it's not that I hated Coldplay I had just been into an entirely different genre. Basically it wasn't my thing. My bf listened to them and I put up with it but I never truely listened to it. I had "Violet Hill" and "Fix You" but that was about it. Well, that one fateful day I bought "Lovers In Japan" and I instantly fell in love. I felt energized, and a song hadn't done that to me in a very long time. Not even a month later, my uncle died. No one close to me had died before, so I wasn't sure how to feel. So I bottled up whatever I was feeling and drowned it out with music. I needed new music to listen to; the stuff I had always listened to just made me feel annoyed at the situation and didn't help me feel better. I remembered how much I liked "Lovers In japan" and decided to give Coldplay a shot. I bought the while Viva La Vida album and put it onto my iPod. Driving to the wake (it was 45 minutes away) I listened to the album. I was blown away. I began listening to it over and over again. I quickly bought more and more. Chris' voice completely mesmerized me. I had even begun liking "Viva La Vida" which I didn't really like before. It began a whole new music obsession and I wouldn't have it any other way. Coldplay has helped me get through a very tough year, and I can honestly say they've changed my life. Though it's only been 8 months, I still feel that I can say that I am a true Coldplay fan. I went to All Points West and stood in ankle deep mud for eight hours just to see them. I would never do that for any other band. But Coldplay isn't just any band, they're the best band ever :D

sorry it was so long :P

(^^whew! on reading that. nice story. yeah, not just a band, they're lifesavers of music.)

2006.

I knew that Fix You is a song from Coldplay. But I never really got to hear it properly..until a radio station that I'm tuned into featured a film based on 9/11 (Trailer:World Trade Center). First time I've ever heard it--god. It really strucked me because of a particular part of the song w/c is getting powerful and having more and more layers in it. Later I bought X&Y not knowing that they really have wonderful music. That it became my favorite album I had that time and I got to love ALL the tracks in it. I didn't realize that I was constantly listening to that album and start to love the band and bought all their albums. I became a fan ever since.

I bought this version of X&Y:South East Asia Tour Edition and I thought about the cover 'what the hell, the second guy from the right looked scary'. (I didn't ever search pictures/info about them on the internet back then). Years after when the MV of Violet Hill came out and I saw a handsome guy playing the bass and I was like 'holy shit I didnt realize that there's a hot member from Coldplay, and thats when I got to like Guy and start search about him and the band of course on the web.

I got my first taste of them waiting for a movie at a cinema. Trouble came on and that was it. Need I say more? :)

My start was when In My Place just came out. I heard it on the radio, but had no idea who it was.

At the time I was doing a vacation job where I had to clean bungalows in a holiday park. I did that together with my sister and we always put the tv on. I was cleaning when In My Place came on and I dropped what I was doing and ran downstairs to check who the band were. I watched the video and the next day I went to the shop to buy the first 2 albums. Was suprised to hear some songs I vaguely recognised (Trouble and Don't Panic).

And that was how I fell in love with them! :D

how did they tasted like? kidding. :dozey:

i'd always sort of liked coldplay's music (just didn't know it was them) since yellow came out, but clocks just started it...

i first heard it on the radio and i was hooked. i was about 10 and i used to leave my radio on every night in case clocks came on... how sad i know but i was too embarrassed to buy the cd because everyone i knew listened to eminem (lol!!) and hated yellow

then when iTunes (or some kind of equivilent) came out i was looking for 'in my place' to buy, accidentally got warning sign and was hooked since year 7

My sister knew Coldplay before me, and she listened a lot to Yellow. Once I heard it, and I fell in love with it.

I've got the Live DVD, and AROBTTH, and I couldn't help myself... i listened to Coldplay all day long. Then X&Y came out, and I lost Coldplay touch for a while.

Last year I saw for the first time VLV video in the TV, and I was sooo damn happy, I realized how much I've loved and still love Coldplay. Since then, there is no day without Coldplay! They are my all-time favorite band, though I didn't see them live yet, but now, this is my biggest dream, to go to one of their gigs. It'd amazing!

I always remember the first time when I heard Yellow... i'll never forget that feeling, when I fell that Chris sang only for me :"Look at the stars, look how they shine for you... "

I don't know when I first heard a Coldplay song (Parachutes came out when I was 7) but they always seemed to be playing in the background of malls and such. The first time I actually paid attention to a song was in September 2007. My family and I were on vacation at Yellowstone and we stopped at this small grocery store at the Montana border. "Clocks" came on the radio and I felt proud that I knew the song was a by a band named Coldplay and the name of the song. (At that time I thought Coldplay was a bunch of men in their 40's with ZZ Top length beards )

Months later (around March 08) I was looking for some piano music and I remembered how cool "Clocks" sounded. I got the music and spent too much time trying to get the pattern right but the result was I got interested in Coldplay.

Bought Rush of Blood to the Head in April and couldn't stop listening to it.

Then came the "Viva" Apple commercial and I pre-ordered VLV.

Got Parachutes for Christmas that year and listened to yellow while watching the sun rise over water. Now I have all the Albums.

The best part is, a little over a year after buying my first album I was able to see them live and it was awesome.

how did they tasted like? kidding. :dozey:

delicious I assume :sneaky:

Mine:

Back years ago I saw the music vid for The Scientist and HATED it. I hated Coldplay, and I never really knew why, I was a loser :P. Then about a year or so later in 2004, I saw a pic of Chris and thought he was pretty good looking :wink3:, so my hate slowly decresed. Then in 2005 or 2006, I heard Fix You. It was a rainy day, and I was crying, it was sooooo perfect. From then on I have loved them, but I only knew a few songs by them.

When Violet Hills came out, EVERYONE loved it and I couldn't stand it, then one day on itunes I downloaded their new song VLV, without hearing it first (I was so smart). I listened to it then was so confused, they changed soooo much. By summer 2008 I couldn't stop listenin to them, and I started to discover more of their music. After my first and only Coldplay concert in June 2009, I was love struck, like dead on love struck

Haha, i find it funny you hated them  and yup i'm an orch dork :laugh3:

My best friend Edgar told me about them,

And i have a long story for that guy.

>_> Tears and Fears. Heart Breaks.Horrible ending.

You don't wanna know.

But whithin every step of the way there was a song for every situation ^_^

i was driving in my car and i heard the song "Clocks" i immediately loved it but did not know the group! At the end of the song, they said it was by Coldplay..and I went out and bought Rush Of Blood to the Head..and the rest is history. Saw them for the first time this year in Virginia...i am sooooooooooooo addicted!!!

One of my best friends Katie (keddiechan) liked them for a while. After this one guy who was like a brother to me did a complete and random 180, and joined hte military, i got really depressed. I haven't seen him since and i was really sad at the time. So Katie showed me 42 which related ot my situation. I was like obsessing over him being gone until i heard htat... then i knew if i didn't let him "die" in my head it would never stop torturing me (Those who are dead are not dead, they're just living in my head") See he was a completely different person and the old Nick would never come back. So eventually I did, and Katie showed me a bunch of other songs. Glass of Water really sealed the deal. Then she lent me her CD and i got obsessed! Yay, and we all lived happily ever after! :D
