Longlivelife42
There's obviously that one song that made you fall in love with Coldplay...but where were you when you heard it and how did you wind up listening to it? I'm in the mood to see how we all wound up here! :D I'll share mine ;) My friend was obsessed with this band Coldplay. I'd heard of them but I didn't see what the big hype was. (:shocked2: how could I NOT SEE THE BIG HYPE?) Anyway, I'd heard Viva la Vida and I wasn't crazy about it, because we played it so many times in Chamber Orchestra anyway. One day I was bored on Itunes and decided to look up Coldplay. I listened to the Scientist and immediately fell in love with it. I played it over and over until I had listened to it for hours! At that time, I was a little sad since I was rejected from a guy I liked. The next song I listened to was Lost? and it actually brightened my spirits :) I didn't know why, but I liked it a lot. I kept listening to more and more of their songs until I ultimately fell in love with Coldplay. Now let's hear yours!
Dancin4eva212
Summer of 2008 Coldplay song Viva La Vida came on the radio and Blaire fell in love with it. We had never heard any Coldplay songs before this... I didn't like it tooo much, because it wasn't the kind of music I liked. Everytime it came it on the radio I liked it even more. We would always pray for it to come on. About two months after that, Coldplay was gonna come to where we live, so the radio station would always play a promotion for a contest to go to their concert. You could only win if you won tickets to see someone else. So there wasn't any hope for us...but in the promo they would play Clocks. We didn't know that Coldplay sang Clocks and didn't even know the name, but we loved the song when we had heard it a few years ago on a Grey's Anatomy commercial. Anyways we wanted to go to their concert, And our mother asked us we wanted to go, but we said no because we had only new two songs (BIG MISTAKE) We bought Viva La Vida and Prospekts March and fell in love with all the songs!!!! Then went on to buy the rest of the albums. In march 2009 we got tickets to their concert in which we would have to drive 6 hours to see them. So worth it and we had the best time of our lives!!!! Coldplay is one of our favorite things in life!!!! -Gigi and Blaire :)
SimpleBlur
I fell in love with Coldplay when I heard VLV on my birthday. secretspy
I have liked coldplay since probably about 4 years ago, i had there bigger song on iTunes and i have always like them. I bought the whole Viva la Vida album the day it came out and i love every song on it but they still weren't my favorite like they are now. In June 2008 I found out they were coming to the air Canada Center the night before the show from a friend... i missed the concert and was kinda upset about it but not too bad. Then i found out in June of this year that my very best friend had 5 tickets to see them at the rogers center and by this point i loved coldplay, defiantly in my top artists so i hoped and hoped that she would invite me for two months. 4 Day before the concert she asked if i wanted to go and i freaked out and obviously said yes. That night was defiantly one of the best of my life and i will never forget it. Ever since that night i have not been able to go through a day without listening to at least 4 Coldplay songs... i am Obsessed! and if it wasn't the best band in the world it would be unhealthy how much i listen and love them!! not quite a love at first sight but thats the way it happened. Thanks for the amazing music and concert boys! i can't wait for you next tour... literaly! you have changed my life forever!
i'maveryneatMonster.'
So I hear this song in 2008 with some tune. Found out it's Viva la Vida. Then I absolutely fell in love with Coldplay, downloaded every album, b-sides, rare stuff, pics, bought tickets for like 50 concerts and then registered to Coldplaying.com cause I wanted to tell you all that I love them and they'll always be like my favorite band ever. And Chris Martin OMGOMGOMGOMG, so sexy and cute. We made eye contact that other night when I was in front of B-stage and blew a kiss to me. I went nuts and had mental sex with him. Then I got all depressed after my last CP concert. Thank you Viva la vida. /Lies. Spies, 2002, then bought AROBTTH, Clocks made me keep them in my top 10. Josh42
Didn't really have a "first song". When I first started listening I recognized a few tracks like Yellow, Clocks, and Speed of Sound. Yellow has been, and always will be, one of my favorites.
graceberryman
Well.... my brother has always been a Coldplay fan... and one day I looked at his running playlist on his iPod and heard uh.... Viva la Vida and I liked it :) So like a month after that I was desperate for new music so I looked at their new album and listening to Life in Technicolor (i) and ta da! I fell in love with it. The only reason I listened to it is because of the cool song name. Then I listened to Lost! and strangely loved it. So I listened to these songs for awhile, then the next track I bought was Cemeteries of London, then Strawberry Swing and my fanness begins. flickahidalgo
I've liked Coldplay for about 4 years now. First song I heard was Speed of Sound. I didn't really become addicted till I heard Life In Technicolor ii when I got LP4. So, I started searching their other music and I became completely addicted. So, yeah.... i♥C.MART
My sisters have always liked Coldplay and I had heard of them before but I never really listened to them until... I think it was the summer before 6th grade. I really liked Speed of Sound and my sister had A Rush of Blood to the Head so i borrowed it and listened to it. I fell in love with The Scientist and from that point on I was a fan. Over time I became "obsessed" andddd here I am now. :)
l0wxo2
I discovered Coldplay in 2004... my friend dragged me to see the movie Wicker Park. "The Scientist" was playing at the end of the movie and I fell in love.. I Immediately went out and bought parachutes, AROBTTH, the live 2003 dvd, and downloaded every b-side I could get my hands on. I still remember spending a crap load of money to buy balcony seats to see my first Coldplay concert in 2005 right before X&Y came out. The concert was at a very small and intimate venue here in Las Vegas and I remember getting upgraded to second row and how unbelievable it was. 5 years and 8 concerts later.. here I am. I achieved my dream of seeing them front row center at the Irvine concert in July. I can't wait for the next tour.. I am having major concert withdrawals :(
Keddie
Ok but just to let you know, this is a loooooooooooooooooooooooong story. OK, here goes.*Takes deep breath.* OK so it all started over 2 years ago, I believe it was around June or July of 2007, when I used to be pretty obsessed with(gosh this is pathetic)Naruto. So I used to go on youtube and look up videos for it all the time. My sister was obsessed with Naruto too, and one day she showed me this video:[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2_A-g6ftrg]YouTube - Rock Lee - True Strength: strength of heart[/ame] I immediately fell in love with the song. I listened to it EVERY DAY, at least 5 times a day for like 3 months. That was the first time I had ever heard of Coldplay. I didn't love them back then, or even really like them, but I did love that song. It was the first Coldplay song I ever loved. Around this time, I was also first hearing Clocks, Speed of Sound, and Talk on the radio, but I didn't know they were by Coldplay or even what they were called, I just knew that the tunes wre catchy and had started to become familiar to me. I especially liked Talk. I remember it used to come on the Canadian radio stations and I used to love singing the line "you can climb a ladder up to the sun." Now I've got to skip ahead to about January of 08? I had been watching a TV show with my family, and it had ended a few minutes early. So my dad was surfing through various TV channels and happened to come across Palladia, which at that time was a new station for us that we hadn't heard of(I believe it replaced MHD?) Since my dad and I had alwasy enjoyed music stations, we stopped there for a second. Whatever show that was on ended, and on came the usual music videos they have in between programs. And a certain epic music video came on then-The Scientist. From the second it started, when I saw Chris lying on that mattress, suddenly open his eyes and start to sing, in that soulful, sad, and absolutely beautiful voice, I loved it. I loved the whole thing. The music was a amazing, and the video was genius and so touching. By the end of it I was crying. I immediately wrote down the "The Scientist-by Coldplay" on my hand and promptly downloaded it off of limewire. Soon after that, I was looking through my song list one day and suddenly made a connection-Fix and The Scientist were both by Coldplay. It was at this point I started to think that Coldplay might actually be a good band, and so I looked them up. I quickly learned to love Yellow, In My Place, Speed Of Sound, Clocks, Talk, Sparks, and Shiver. I also heard Trouble and Green Eyes but I didn't really care for those songs at that time. Here's the first documented experience of me liking Coldplay:http://blazing-blade.deviantart.com/journal/18859410/ Now I've got to skip ahead to mid-July or early August of 08. I wanted to find some new songs so I looked up Coldplay on limewire and found the song that made me love Coldplay officially-Strawberry Swing. I listened to it every day about 10 times a day until late September. Also during the summer I first heard Low and Death and All His Friends, both of which I liked immediately. Here's another early Coldplay reference I made, although I highly doubt you'l want to go through and find where I mentioned Coldplay songs:http://blazing-blade.deviantart.com/journal/19262782/ Oh, and here's the first time I recognized Coldplay as one my my favorite bands:http://blazing-blade.deviantart.com/journal/19289325/ OK so July08 was really when my obsession kicked off; my sister's friend introduced her to the song Violet Hill, and my sister in turn showed it to me. That song to me was completely amazing and after that I couldn't get enough of Coldplay. I first started to research them then, and I remember learning around that time the name Chris Martin and also the name Will Champion; I only remembered Will's name because I thought the last name "Champion" was cool. I also heard LIJ and VLV which I also loved. Here's the first blog I ever dedicated to Coldplay:http://blazing-blade.deviantart.com/journal/19289325/ Right here I listed Coldplay as my second favorite band:http://blazing-blade.deviantart.com/journal/20307426/ OK and the one final song that brought me over the edge to truly and sincerely loving Coldplay was Politik. The first song I ever saw a live performance of(via youtube of course)was Politk, from the Live 2003 DVD. I dedicated a whole blog to just that song:http://blazing-blade.deviantart.com/journal/20441797/ Soon after that, I was at Borders one day and saw VLVODAAHF. I looked at the case and saw that there were a few songs I knew and loved on it, so I decided to buy it. I came home and listened to it 3 times all the way through. From the moment I first heard LiT end and Cemtetaries of London begin, with that amazing music that sounds like a heartbeat, I was hooked. I adored that album with a passion, and still do. Soon after Prospekt's March EP came out and I bought that too, immediately loving all the songs especially Glass of Water. Once 2009 started, I was hooked on Coldplay. In January I really started to reseach the actual band, and I came to love Chris Martin. I loved him enough to draw a portrait of him-the first portrait I ever drew. When I saw the Grammys in February and I saw their amazing oufits, I fell in love with all of the band. I learned all their names and faces quickly after that. And only a couple weeks later, one of the teachers at my school said that Coldplay was going to be coming to Darien Lake. This made my life, I could not believe my luck. Emily, Karen(both of whom I had recently concerted to Coldplay fans) and I immediately arranged to buy tickets. And I don't think I even need to go further, because I think my Coldplay love is clearly evident at this point:D

Awesome  Mine: Back years ago I saw the music vid for The Scientist and HATED it. I hated Coldplay, and I never really knew why, I was a loser :P. Then about a year or so later in 2004, I saw a pic of Chris and thought he was pretty good looking :wink3:, so my hate slowly decresed. Then in 2005 or 2006, I heard Fix You. It was a rainy day, and I was crying, it was sooooo perfect. From then on I have loved them, but I only knew a few songs by them. When Violet Hills came out, EVERYONE loved it and I couldn't stand it, then one day on itunes I downloaded their new song VLV, without hearing it first (I was so smart). I listened to it then was so confused, they changed soooo much. By summer 2008 I couldn't stop listenin to them, and I started to discover more of their music. After my first and only Coldplay concert in June 2009, I was love struck, like dead on love struck
Cobalt
I only heard of them really when I was 13/14 because some guy I liked liked some of their songs... picked up Parachutes in December 07 and fell in love with High Speed. Arantza
Quick version of my story: I was a friend's house and I was looking through her songs and saw a Coldplay song, I was like "meh, I'll see what they are all about :dozey:"... I started listening to some songs and realized I've heard them before many times so I kept downloading songs and... here I am.

bohemiandaisy
Long story, I'll make it short... When I was 10, I was rather an ugly duckling...lol!(no worries now, i grew out of that phase woot) and I was made fun of CONSTANTLY. Well, in 5th grade, we had this mini prom thing for graduating 5th graders going to middle school, and I was the only one without a date. PLUS, I was made fun of for it. The kids knew how to make me feel insignifant, ugly, etc. Have been teased for quite some time. I hate the kids, so I decided not to go, and I stayed home watching VH1 until very late. Then..this really simple( and dare I say it)rather terrible video came on. A guy on a beach in a black raincoat crooning to me while I wipe my tears. " Look at the stars...look how they shine for you...and all the things you do..." He was looking right at the camera and right at me. I literally felt like he was singing to me! The lyrics, albeit simple and strange and even nonsensical, were beautiful and made me feel special and loved. I don't know how to explain it. I was the lonely kid who was always picked on, but that night, all alone while everyone else was having fun, those yellow stars shone for me. And ta da, I fell in love with Chris and Coldplay! Soon after that video encounter, CP became really big in America. I bought A Rush of Blood to the Head the moment I heard Clocks. I knew Chris was a lyrical genius. I think that is their best single to date. That piano melody...damn! The Scientist made me weep and long for that kind of love when older. I've loved them ever since! PS When I saw Yellow live in Vancouver, I was front row. Chris looked right at me when he sang "you know I love you so" and I began to cry uncontrollably. Best 4 seconds ever. That song can really make a girl feel special. I consider it to be "my song" and want it to be played at my wedding when I walk down the aisle! tartpops
June of summer 2008 I was on a trip to Lake Placid, NY... 5 hour trip. I had my laptop and decided to look up some Coldplay stuff, because my one friend liked them. I heard Violet Hill and Green Eyes (I don't like Green Eyes much anymore.. not sure why, whatever) and immediately fell in love/looked up more songs. I have now had Coldplay on repeat for over a year.

They really do care about their fans, I really respect them for keeping that closeness to us. Anyway, I was around for the first downloading phase with napster and kazaa and whatnot. Came across 'Clocks' in.. 2003, maybe. Got the most incredible chills the first time I heard it. Cried like a baby, haha. It really moved me. However, I didn't really pursue my Coldplaying, but it was 2 years later in 2005 that I went to Oxford for language school. I was there by myself for a month. I felt really miserable and lonely (I was 15) and one day I went into a HMV and in the front of the store was X&Y. I immediately bought it and I spent the remaining time listening to it on a small cd-player in my room at my host family. It really saved me, they fixed me :) and kept me sane.
