THE CLEAN UP OPERATION IN THE USA AFTER HURRICANE SANDY MAY AMOUNT TO BETWEEN 7 AND 15 BILLION DOLLARS

Disaster models elaborated / compiled by the company AIR Worldwide show this. The insurance damage amounts to so much because of the gigantic size / extent of the hurricane and because Sandy merged with another big front from the Western USA.

German ARDtext: The total damage is estimated to be 50 billion dollars. 20,000 people are stuck in Hoboken in New Jersey because of floodings.

Sandy had a width of 1,600 km and was one of the worst hurricanes in US history. More than 8 million homes and companies are without power / electricity along the east coast, and at least 63 people have lost their lives in the USA and Canada.

The death toll for New York City was upgraded to 24 this afternoon.

The death toll is expected to rise further because many people remain missing.

The authorities report of deaths caused by Sandy in 8 US states - Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

Sandy had already killed at least 67 (I have read about 69 deaths) in the Caribbean - most of the deaths in HAITI.

The total death toll is now 110.

SANDY HAS A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON US ECONOMY

The super storm SANDY has badly damaged several US states and the metropole New York. Also the troubled US economy seems to be hard hit.
