Bahaha :p

i think the guys on fasterlouder are having a pretty fair discussion on the ticket prices. if you compare splendour to other massive festivals it's actually not that expensive and you can't exactly be happy about coldplay and kanye and then complain about the price because they would be a big part of the reason why it's so expensive. i'm not happy about it either but going to splendour this year makes sense to me because a bulk of the lineup is bands i like but won't be willing to pay 60 bucks to see at a sideshow.

I completely agree, I wasn't so much complaining as just... ok maybe I was complaining, but that's because I'm a stingy uni student unwilling to part with my money :p

Definitely going to try for tickets, though!!

^Grace, you got the 2000th post in the thread!

Also, does anyone else feel that Architecture in Helsinki is going to be 2011's Birds of Tokyo?

Whoah!! And it was me complaining.. haha.

I haven't actually listened to the album apart from what I've heard on the radio. Is it worth a listen? If it's going to become the next BoT then perhaps I don't want to.

I just listened to the Middle East Ep on vinyl and it has got to be one of the most amazing things I have ever heard. It also made me realise, that although the new album out is good, (I would say average if were anyone else), it is nothing to the standard of the Ep.

congrats and thanks guys for hitting 2000 :)

Aussie music FTW

Hahaha, cool. Not so sure about the whole lollies theme, but the poster does look good.

So, it's only two weeks til tickets go on sale!! Who is actually planning on buying tix?

Wooooooo! I can't actually afford to go but my friends/family are going to get me one for my birthday, because that's only a couple of days before the festival starts :wacky:

^That's why I suggested it :P

Of course, actually GETTING a ticket is something else entirely...

it just struck me. triple j completely shunned the middle east debut. i know it wasn't what everyone hoped it would be. but surely it is better than the new jebediah, drapht and architecture in helsinki albums. i love supporting aussie music but the year has so far so shit. :(

Ha, true! Apart from Sparkadia, and even the middle east, I can't think of an Aussie album released so far that has been particularly good. Perhaps we were just lucky with the quality of some of last year's releases.

i hope johno boulet brings out something decent this year. he might be able to save us. :P

I've only really have enjoyed Cut Copy and The Middle East, and probably a few songs from Sparkadia. Does anyone here listen to Paradise Motel?

THIS. I love that man's music.

Are you mostly saying this due to your newfound love of this man? :P

Note to self, NEED to listen to Parades...

Oh yeah, Cut Copy were ok too. I only listened to the album a couple of times though, there's something about the singer's voice I don't like but I can't put my finger on what it is.

Never heard of Paradise Motel, what are some songs to check out?

I mainly know Paradise Motel from their album last year Australian Ghost Story.

I really like the strings in that one Bryce, but I get the feeling it's the type of music that might take a little while to grow on me.

I guess what I REALLY meant to say was something about your newfound love of Parades, but I guess I just failed :P

Must admit, I thought Boulet's set sounded a bit messy when I saw him at Splendour last year (in that there just seemed to be percussion everywhere). Granted, I did see his set from the top of the amphitheatre.

If you guys want to check out an Aussie band thats a bit different take a look at Seekae

i've listened to a bit of Seekae. it feels as though they're just doing what everyone else is doing with the whole dubstep minimalism thing. not bad music just feels like i've heard it all before.
