New 7 wonders

Featured Replies

excuse me if there is another thread for this i couldn't find one:)

the final stage of voting for the new 7 wonders of the world began 3 months ago, 28 natural sites from all over the world have reached this stage out of thousands of other places, i asked the oracle about it a couple of months ago and this is what she said:

Well, I remember being thrilled when Machu Picchu was chosen as a man-made wonder of the world as I have been to Peru and seen the magical place for myself so feel that I should pick somewhere I have also been from the 28 finalists.

I havent voted so far but am very tempted to.

The full list for those who haven't seen it (and can't be bothered looking) is:

Amazon

Angel Falls, Venezuela

Bay of Fundy, Canada

Black Forest, Germany

Bu Tinah Shoals, UAE

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

Dead Sea

El Yunque, Puerto Rico

Galapagos, Ecuador

Grand Canyon

Great Barrier Reef

Halong Bay, Vietnam

Iguazu Falls, Brazil/Argentina

Jeita Grotto, Lebanon

Jeju Island, South Korea

Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Komodo, Indonesia

Maldives

Masurian Lake District, Poland

Matterhorn/Cervino, Switzerland/Italy

Milford Sound

Mud Volcanoes, Azerbaijan

Puerto Princesa Underground River, Philippines

Sundarbans, India/Bangladesh

Table Mountain, South Africa

Uluru, Australia

Vesuvius, Italy

Yushan, Chinese Taipei.

Now given I have always found the Grand Canyon a great fascination but have only seen it from an airliner, I can't pick it, plus Colca Canyon in Peru is deeper!

I have only visited 2 from the final list; Cliffs of Moher and Maldives, I have to say that Maldives are my first choice.

They are all impressive so I'm not bothered who wins as they're all worthy so any of the others to make up my 6.

voting is open on www.n7w.com

well congrats for you.

answering your first post question:

i have not visited any of those nominated places... as first i'm not rich, second that list looks like World Heritage list to me...

but i would be interested in visit nature ones, humans can never win nature. ;)

You have to visit the Tubbataha Reef in Palawan. God I swear, you won't regret it ;)

Aww, no Petra! :(

But Dead Sea and Jeita Grotto FTW! They are worthy of it.

Oh, no, wait.. No Pyramids?

Hmmmm, is this for real? I thought they should always be on the list..

I was there this summer :D! It's bloody amazing!!

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland ?

ok, i wouldn't have chosen that site in Ireland

but fair enough.

:laugh3:

i think this list is for the New 7 Wonders of Nature, which is different from the New 7 Wonders of the World announced last year in Lisbon and Seven Wonders of Ancient World (which includes the pyramids)... :):):)

and  Puerto Princesa Underground River made it on the list...
