Haha same here.

Especially durian, though everyone else thinks it's gross :P

Durians are supposed to be super-strong - but what is one like? They won't offer them in our stores (perhaps they don't ship or keep well?).. What's the smell like??

What's a mangosteen like?

They have dark purple skin and sweet white flesh inside...

It's a Southeast Asian thing :P

The smell... some people describe it as worse than a garbage dump  That's probably the main reason why you don't get them imported.

But if you can get past the smell, they are sweet (some species have a bitter edge), creamy and rich.

To me it smells like blue cheese but stronger.

Mangosteen is my most favourite local fruit :D

Thanks!:) The odor according to Wiki may be from the fruit's emission of hydrogen sulfide gas (which smells like rotten eggs), so I can see why they've been compared to a garbage heap odor-wise! (but then Wiki also says they vary widely in odor & flavor, hence some smell more like almonds, and others like cheese, onions, or cooking sherry!) Cheese ones would be nice.;)

& thanks for the info. on mangosteens - quite interesting in appearance also!! Wish I could try some of these fruits - you've got it nice living in the tropics.:sunny:

I like melons...:D:D
