The Music Thread

Featured Replies

I only created this because it sounds ultimate and final. This thread will herein be neutral and open to anything and everything having to do with music. The idea is to break down the band thread walls and let a chaotic sea of ideas and interests flood in...BEGIN!

All around me are familiar faces

Worn out places, worn out faces

Bright and early for their daily races

Going nowhere, going nowhere

And their tears are filling up their glasses

No expression, no expression

Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow

No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny

I find it kind of sad

The dreams in which I'm dying

Are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you

'Cos I find it hard to take

When people run in circles

It's a very, very

Mad World

Children waiting for the day they feel good

Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday

Made to feel the way that every child should

Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous

No one knew me, no one knew me

Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson

Look right through me, look right through me

So this thread has nothing to do with the band known as the music?

Muse are crap.

Radiohead is better than Coldplay.

I love the old, slow Mad World

The old Mad World was actually fast, twas originally by Tears For Fears.

Yes, I knew that. That is why I said the old, slow one :P

not specifically, no. I had a feeling someone would bring them up.

Why say old at all? considering its quite recent.

Because it's before thhe Adam Lambert one eveyone is obsessed with.

Oh yeah, my mom was crazy about that. Its funny, whenever most people hear about a cover of one of their favorite songs/bands they'll be like :awesome:. I just go :cringe: (especially when it comes to coldplay covers).

Same here, though alot of Beatles covers are quite good.

I normally like covers, but there are very few Beatles covers I like.

I like the Doves cover of Blackbird.

I like both Fiona Apple's and Rufus Wainwright's cover of Across The Universe and Oasis' cover of I am The Walrus (but mostly because of the story behind it), but that's about it.

I don't think I've heard Dove's cover of Blackbird, though.

Oh, wait. EDIT: I forgot about Ray Charles' cover of Yesterday. It's so beautiful, I might like it more than the original.

by Kanye? everyone's covering that these days.

Thats the one. Who else has covered it?

The Fray's "Heartless" cover I am rather fond of.

Same here.

Thats the one. Who else has covered it?

That guy from American Idol did I believe.

For the most part, covers are either the same or worse than the original. But in some cases they are just as good or even better. Where would Hallelujah be without Jeff and Rufus and John covering it so beautifully? Nearly every Bob Dylan song has been covered and most of the time the covers are far better since the new versions put so much into them.

Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower? Fahget about it.

I like the Clash
