January 6, 201016 yr "Internet addiction disorder (IAD), or, more broadly, Internet overuse, problematic computer use or pathological computer use, is excessive computer use that interferes with daily life. These terms avoid the distracting and divisive term addiction and are not limited to any single cause." Do you know anyone who is a sufferer? Are you a sufferer? Or do you believe that there is no such thing and that It's not a real problem? Some interesting reading material; China bans physical punishment for Internet addicts Why Internet Addiction Still Doesn’t Exist Trapped in the Web
January 6, 201016 yr It seems so bot-like  We are the generation of technology, I'll tell you that. The internet is addicting, but it seems strange that there would be a disorder.
January 6, 201016 yr I watched an anime about how technology/the internet kinda takes over lives, it's really interesting but I realise how suggesting an anime sounds so I wont... The internet is simply part of society now, people get addicted to all sorts of things, it's not the fault of the internet.
January 7, 201016 yr I thought this test that was pretty interesting: http://www.netaddiction.com/index.php?option=com_bfquiz&view=onepage&catid=46&Itemid=106 Another question is if it's accurate though. I got. Congratulations, your score is: 34 20 - 49 points: You are an average on-line user. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage. 50 -79 points: You are experiencing occasional or frequent problems because of the Internet. You should consider their full impact on your life. 80 - 100 points: Your Internet usage is causing significant problems in your life. You should evaluate the impact of the Internet on your life and address the problems directly caused by your Internet usage.
January 7, 201016 yr Not really like. I stopped halfway through because my answers were either 'Does not apply' (usually) or 'Always' and I thought the test was absolutely stupid. Comparing being on the internet with intimacy? Fuck off. EDIT: I decided to do this on the basis that a friend on MSN said I couldn't do the test because I probably have an internet problem :freak: Turns out she was kindof right, I guess: 24. I mean its not a problem but according to the test its not, not a problem, if you know what I mean. Somewhere in between. Why it was stupid: 1. How often do you find that you stay on-line longer than you intended? 14. How often do you lose sleep due to late-night log-ins? 16. How often do you find yourself saying "just a few more minutes" when on-line? 17. How often do you try to cut down the amount of time you spend on-line and fail? Which is the same question, except 14 is much more serious, although the points stay the same. 2. How often do you neglect household chores to spend more time on-line? 6. How often do your grades or school work suffer because of the amount of time you spend on-line? 7. How often do you check your e-mail before something else that you need to do? 8. How often does your job performance or productivity suffer because of the Internet? Same thing. 4. How often do you form new relationships with fellow on-line users? Uh, isnt that the kinda thing people regularly do or never do? Most of the quiz couldve been one question: Do you spend too much time on the internet?
January 7, 201016 yr Author Hmm I got a 47  I would've thought it was much higher than that. Maybe I'm not thinking hard enough about the question or something...
