Why hello there, first hour as a member so I thought I'd just give a quick introduction.

Don't know if it's necessary to say OH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH or brag about how many songs I know by heart (very few) or how many I can play on my guitar (actually a bit more), I adore the band. Like you all do, I assume, that's why we're all here.

I went to see them live in Stockholm 2009, and I can honestly say that concert was one of the best evenings of my life. The show, the lights, the songs, the crowd, the butterflies, the band...it was amazing. Truly amazing.

They were my favourites before the concert, and if possible, they are now even more. Discovered this page a couple of monhts ago while looking for some rumours of a 5th studio album, and have read a few posts every once in a while since then. So I just thought it was about time I stopped being an anonymous stalker and started to be able to participate in the conversations.

And also, I think it's amazing, coming to this online forum and finding such a united group of fans. I don't think I will take myself the time to truly become "one in the family" here, but I think it's really cool that you, we maybe I have to say, actually seem like that. A big family (though a very creepy one with risk of the occasional incest)

See you on the forum :)

I... I actually kinda like this one. :embarrassed:

Welcome trimp from Sweden! And now we will have to start acting united!:laugh3: Yes, that's us here - the Addams family, the Munsters.

Have Fun, enjoy the show, and say hi to Ian and Jen, the dungeon-masters lurking about in the troll-hunter's cavern above..:P

Hello and welcome in :)

Welcome here!!!:)

hi there! welcome:)

...is this something positive?

thanks to the lot of you :)

Why wouldn't it be? Normally I just skim past the newbie threads in New Posts.

Hard to know for me, haha

intrigued though, what made you not to skim through mine?

I think it was the posh title.

yeah well, I thought I'd start with something Coldplay, just for the look of it, but not something as cheesy as "come up to meet you" or something like that ^^

Hi! How's it going? :hat: (Don't you hate when people ask that, then continue on with the conversation not caring for the answer?)

Hey guys, thanks :)

hahah ^^ yeah i'm fine, a bit tired though. Yesterday evening I found smoke in my appartment (:stunned:), but since there was no fire at all I assumed it must come from my neighbours or something. Told my boss about it and he got more worried about it then I was and sent me off to spend the night at a hotel just to be sure (I'm working in China atm so it's a bit tricky sometimes)....heh, perhaps not small-talk, but you asked :D

what about you? :)

Uh... I didn't really care for the answer. :uhoh:

 Sarcasm aside, I'm okay. I was feeling pretty shit in the morning and today I found a dollar on the street, and since I live in a cardboard box, it was pretty much the highlight of my day. China? I bet they have some bomb Chinese food there  What other bands do you like besides Coldplay?

My name is Sue...how do you do?!! Now you gonna die!

That could be a problem! Faulty wiring, or something else do you mean? Hmm! So if you can communicate from China to this site, then we must not be blocked there! (or, possibly only blocked to the Chinese people?). What's with Google's problems - the allegations that the Chinese Government was responsible for the cyber attack, and tried to nab Google's code? (or is this a verboten subject?:laugh3:)

Welcome again trimp, and keep freeing China!:)

finding money on the street is always the best haha, haven't done it in years now :(

the food is pretty amazing sometimes yeah =D but they have lots of strange things I don't really like, like seaweed, chicken feet, pig snout etc

besides Coldplay I listen to Death Cab for cutie, John Mayer, Sufjan Stevens, Mando Diao, The Shins and I recently "discovered" The Killers. I got a very varried taste in music, but those are the bands I tend to return to. What about you? :)

Hello Sue, nice to kill you too :)

No I don't think so, no electronics were switched on at the time, it was all very weird :S I got home from work, everything's fine. Go to my room, play guitar for like 40 minutes, then when I go back outside - smoke. Guessing it came from some neighbours through the fan in the kitchen.

This forum is open in China, yes, but it's very often that I'm not able to see the pictures posted in the forums, that sucks =S

Haha :lol:I havn't really been following the debate, there was a lot of talk about it about 2 weeks ago, but since then I think it has cooled down. At least officially.

And I will only continue to "free China" for another 3-4 weeks, moving back to Sweden in the beginning of march :)

Sounds like overheating stir-fry oil!:laugh3: Wok cooking can get that way..;) Glad there wasn't a problem.

This is open in China?:stunned::shocked2: Hmm.. but the images are blocked? That's unusual. Do you mean the YouTube images, or just images in general?

Well, looks like we can use this forum then to get out the news that's being blocked elsewhere, and hold discussions. Useful to know..

It's a funny topic - here too.:laugh3: The financial section of the NY times didn't even mention the real reason Google wanted to pull out of China - namely that the hacking was the result of Chinese government agents or proxies, because the attack was traced to one set of servers operating in China, the same servers used for government agencies. Apparently the Chinese government was trying to steal Google's software - presumably for their own search engine - and then with no need for Google, they could limit access at will, and Google would be powerless to stop it. (that and Google loosing the Chinese market, plus the software they worked to create made the company give the ultimatum). Anyhow, the story has been completely goofed up by the major media outlets covering it here, and it's a pretty big deal in computer circles & business-wise. Just something to be aware of - part of the rift between the U.S. and China.

3-4 weeks - that's enough time to help though!! Anything to get the truth out - at least the people of China deserve to know as well what's really going on.;)

Keep enjoying the country - it must be nice to see all the exciting development there!

Don't they have dog in China also?

I also like the Killers :D Also Arcade Fire, Elbow, A.A. Bondy, Bob Dylan, some Radiohead. I like lots of other musicians but these are the ones I mainly listen to. Everybody I know thinks they're crap, but what do they know?

Only some pictures.. it's really strange.

I think that Google threatened to pull out of China even before the attack, beacuse they want internet to be open for everybody etc. But Google leaving China is actually good for the chinese govt, because then it will only be domestic webpages used for searching and they can keep a even better control then they do now. Don't really know what's going on between the U.S and China though ^^ Some say that it's only because the U.S is now feeling threatened by China, because they are growing and getting so rich now. I just don't know what to believe

Yes they eat dog haha, it's considored a delicacy  haven't tried it yet though

Yeah, if I'm not wrong, isn't your avatar the singer in the killers? Bob Dylan's great too, Girl from the north country is perhaps one of my favourite song of all time.

Haha yeah, your friends clearly doesn't understand music

Then you'd better hurry up, as the Chinese government now want to ban it!:stunned:

Anyway, welcome to the board.:D

Animal rights activists want to ban it, if the government wanted it done... it would be done.

Incorrect.;)

The Chinese government is now on the verge of introducing its first law against animal abuse and permanently removing both animals from the menu.

The first draft of the law, aiming to protect animals from being hurt and killed in a cruel manner, will be raised for legislation in April.
