This is a much bigger question then you'd think. There's a population crisis much bigger then the apparent global warming, in fact it's completely in the face of global warming.

By what I've heard, a lot of overpopulation fears are exaggerated. Its a real problem throughout Africa and parts of South America/Asia. But fertility rates in the U.S. and most of Europe are supposedly declining to where one can expect a gradual population decrease (particularly among caucasians). Not posing as an expert here, just going by hearsay and a tiny bit of research.

Spieler, there may be a slight population decline in comparison with the last century, because of a general loss of faith in religion and the need to have 10 children if you're a Catholic. But overall, no, I don't even need to look up stats to know that we are definitely in a population crisis. It was at a stable 2 million people for many centuries, now, we are living longer and overall producing just as many children.

 

Personally, I don't want children, even though I'd love to have one with the right woman, but it seems a bit selfish, as it will contribute to the death of earth.

Most of the population increase is probably due to less of a moral value...my mom said once that people just don't fear God anymore and don't believe in the whole 'sex after marriage' thing. (I come from a very religious family. :freak:)
