I so want to visit Bruges!

well , You can't do much in Bruges :\

In Ghent you can shop way more

and you have more 'normal people' who live there

In Bruges it's very commercial and it's all touristic

btw: This is just my opinion

IT IS ONLY TOURISTIC!

I'd definitely recommend Paris! It's a beautiful city and there's a lot to experience.

I've also been to Barcelona, which was great!

London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, Copenhagen, Dublin and Istanbul

Londond is great, if you like everything being overpriced, people being rude, the sky being grey and spending forever in traffic jams,if you've been to New York, London is similar, only more expensive, older, dirtier and more awkward to get around.

I recommend Berlin! :nice:

The night-life is probably one of the best if not the best you can find in Germany, the costs of living are very cheap compared to other cities and since the last twenty years everything has changed a lot. Especially the Eastern districts like Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain are great when it comes to nice food and good pubs/cafés (Simon-Dach-Straße).

You definately have to visit Prague (Czech Republic) either. The Old Town is simply astonishing. Not to forget the Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) which is very nice, too. There are good train connections between Berlin, Prague and Budapest by the way. Some of my friends also admire Budapest, but I've never been to Hungary sadly.

Some other nice places: London, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Vienna... Have fun! :)

Seriously? I love London.

I didn't notice that... I actually loved London. But I think it's different when you live there. :)

In Italy: Rome is a MUST see!! Such a beautiful city!!! Feel like it's frozen in time!

London is just the most incredible city in Europe, I LOVE this place, it's amazing! Dublin is a good pick too, it's very lively (but the architecture kinda look like London) but the Guinness is better there XD

Now, for France, Paris is the town to see even if I don't like it :p I mean it's good to visit but not to live imo (I bet the brits think kinda the same with London). There are many things to see there: Eiffel tower, Les Champs Elysées, Notre-Dame de Paris, Le Louvre, le jardin des Tuileries and of course, take a trip on a fly boat (?) on the Seine ^^

If you're in castle, go to Versailles! But to me, the real beautiful french Renaissance castles are on the Loire Valley (about 200 of them). The most impressiv being le château de Chambord (you can go by train from Paris... about 1h30 or 2 by train...),the 'hunting house' of King Francis...

http://www.chambord.org/Chambord-en-idm-1-n-Accueil.html

yes, that's quite big for what its use was XD

In Spain: Barcelona is beautiful and I like Munich in Germany ^^

You can go to Belgium from Paris via the Thalis (special train that go yo Germany via Belgium)

I didn't notice that... I actually loved London. But I think it's different when you live there. :)

I suppose it's nice to visit the tourist attractions etc but overall I don't feel it's a city to go to over others.

Barcelona is lovely, as is Rome,Amsterdam is nice but I thought it was over expensive too.

Also everyones overlooked Moscow.

Everyone forgets Budapest, although it's such a beautiful city. (maybe just for me, but this city has a great feeling, it's clean, the streets are lovely...)

London's great for shopping. I wouldn't want to live there though, most Londoners are very rude.

Ahh thanks for all the input!

Barcelona has been added, we're trying to figure out days to spend. I had a talk with my manager, after Israel our trip will be a bit under 2 weeks....unless I quit my job and attempt to be rehired, which isn't totally out of the question. Then I could expand it to 3 weeks and not be on a time schedule. Especially since I'm looking at where I want to go and how much more I would like to add. Is a once in a lifetime trip worth my job? Although I do have a second job. And I need to see how far 6 grand will take me.

Anyone want to give me a good breakdown between these cities?

So. I have about $6000. Maybe add an extra $1000 if my grandparents decide to be really nice to me, which i'm hoping for. I am travelling with my sister.

Cities of intrest:

Italy: Rome, Venice, Florence

Switzerland: Bern

France: Paris, Monaco

Spain: Barcelona

England: London

Germany: Berlin

Amsterdam and Sweden are also potentials along with another few cities. My brother has friends in Sweden who could may be able to host us for a night or two as well.

Greece was originally on my list but I have a good friend who is greek who strongly recommends NOT going there at the moment because of the riots and everything else that is happening.

I'm trying to think budgeting. How far do you think my canadian money can take me in europe PLUS my 10 days in Israel? Although my flight from Canada to Israel is free, along with my stay and some food. Mostly food on the go, shopping and going out are what will cost me money. Also, I will be flying back to Israel from a country so I can get a free flight back to Canada. Anyone know where would be the best country/city to fly to from Israel to start, and the best country to fly from to Israel to end?

Awesome! That sounds like an amazing trip,Germany is a good place to go .

why do you think that would be the best option?

Hey just want to give you guys a bit of an update on my trip and maybe get some advice. We're going to be flying everywhere I believe and this is what we have so far. Nothing is officially booked yet.

Tel Aviv to Berlin

Berlin Venice

Venice to Rome

Rome to Barcelona

Barcelona to Amsterdam

Amsterdam to Paris

Paris to London

London to Tel Aviv

The trip is running from July 15th (although the flight we plan on catching to Berlin is 1am on the 16th) until August 3rd. We fly out of Tel Aviv to Canada 1am August 4th. Thing is, finding decently priced flights to and from Tel Aviv is pretty challenging. On easyjet.com I can fly from London Luton to Tel Aviv. Does anyone know how far Luton is from downtown London and a good way to get there? Airport taxis/public transit ideas? Maybe from someone who knows the area?

I'd appreciate all the help I can get :)

Sounds good! Very sad that you will arrive in Berlin just after the football World Cup ended so you definitely miss a big party! :D

I've once been to Luton airport. There's a busline between Luton Airport and some places in London City.

It's been my experience that London traffic can be harsh at certain times of the day and the bus which runs back to the airport is often overcrowded so it doesn't stop at all bus stations. I nearly missed my flight to Germany because of that. But if you enter the bus at the very first bus station (should be Victoria Station or Marble Arch if I remember it correctly) then you'll be on the safe side! ;)

Definately a good start! :)

How is Saas Fee in the summer?

Sorry I missed this comment before! When I was there in the fall, it was fairly nice and warm in the village. The snow doesn't appear until you go up the two gondolas and funiculaire (I think that's how you spell it, it's basically an underground train-subway thing that goes up the mountain). At the top are some more ski lifts. Anyway, I suspect those are open in the summer months. I think there may be skiing year-round, but besides that, there's plenty of hiking around there on some really cool trails (across suspension bridges and up rock faces). The town is really neat to just hang around, and they have a big athletic complex with a soccer turf and basketball and tennis and volleyball and whatnot. There's also a pool and recreation center, and minigolf and a zipline/high ropes course which is pretty cool. There's also this "alpine slide" which is like a luge, but on a concrete track.

I was pretty busy with skiing when I was there but we really enjoyed our days off. I bet all you need is a few days, but it'd be a thoroughly enjoyable few days. Just being in that kind of mountain environment is pretty cool.

and I see you probably won't get around to it, but you may someday. it'd be worthwhile.

Thanks so much! I'll definately look into it and will probably end up taking it. :)

And ideas for places to go, things to see?
