There is only one album that I'm sure I will put in my top at the end of the year and it's Teen Drean by Beach House. I listen some other but even if I like them I don't know yet if they will still be on my top in 6 months.

See you in december.

amazing year so far, rivals 2008 already and has smashed 09 out of the park. if we get great records from interpol, fleet foxes and arcade fire and maybe something special from radiohead this might just beat 2007.

Its so difficult to make a definitive list when you listen to so much music. Ive listened to about 80 albums so far this year and to cut it down to a top 30 is so challenging. For all I know, my list could look completely different depending on when I write it. What I do know however is that the quality of the music this year has been excellent and I do look forward to the second half.

I haven't honestly listened to enough new music the past few months, going to have to give a bunch of these a try. I stopped torrenting after I infected my computer with like 89754 annoying trojans and shit, so I guess... I will have to be legal now? Ugh. Tsk tsk.

It's so stupid, the actual artists get a pathetically small cut of the album sales, the people who make money are just the record company. Artists get money from touring live. And know how people get to want to see artists live? BY LISTENING TO THE FUCKING ALBUM.

Yeah, I have yet to hear of an actual artist getting seriously upset over pirating. In fact I saw a video on YouTube of a pissed off indie film director going on the street selling bootlegs of his own movie for 1/4 the price of the official ones and saying "this way I actually make money for what I created" etc.

I like when bands have the option of buying it directly from them. Like Stars started up their own label and are selling their new album through it (although it is distributed by Universal still). But even so, ordering it on the band's website is a way to know they're getting more money than if I just went to HMV.

^Thats a solid list as well. I didn't think black keys would be so high up and local natives and mumford and sons were last year.

they had their american releases this year. you'll be surprised at the gaps between normal release and american release for alot of young indie bands.
