It's not that they sound like them it's just the whole image they try to create is effectively based upon The Smiths. Although when it comes to The Smiths - it's actually real. Yorke and Morrissey are both qute self pitiful but we can believe in Morrissey's self pity and relate to it. I don't debate Radiohead's inclusion I just debate why there is no Smiths and if there was to be then undoubtedly they would be higher because their influence on so many bands today is unrivalled. Plus Johnny Marr is a better composer and Morrissey's a better lyricist.

Johnny Marr's writing skills are cited as a major influence with most bands that came through in the 90s in Britain. To say their songs sound all the same is just ignorance. Also you are the first person who I've ever heard of who's actually downgraded Morrissey on a par with Thom Yorke. I mean how can you compare something like '"So you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home, and you cry, and you want to die' with 'I woke up sucking a lemon'?? :\ Morrissey isn't praised as the 'musical poet' by academics all over for nothing you know.

No it isn't. It's not their best but it's very good. Plus British music journalists called it one of the best lyrics ever. In the context of the song - it is immense. There's no point trying to say Thom Yorke's as good if not a better lyricist than Morrissey. It's desperate.
