Picks & Straps

Featured Replies

I think I saw ernie ball straps in the early days.

Take it from a pretty swish guitarist though, straps, at least should be about comfort :)

In Viva la Vida tour Chris and Jonny use Jim Dunlop .60mm nylon picks

Does anyone know what strings Chris and Jonny use? Specifically, Chris's acoustic? :D

I watched 4 gigs of coldplay one in 2001 live in sidney, the coldplay 2003 DVD live in sidney also, the toronto one in 2006 and the MTV WORLD STAGE in 2009 and in all of them I saw that all of them use the Ernie Ball strap the most basic one that must cost like 10$ and in the 2006 I could see that chris used the dunlop tortex .50mm (the red one) and in all of them I could see Johnny using the dunlop tortex .73mm (the yellow one), and in the MTV WORLD STAGE Guy is using the also dunlop tortex .73mm (the yellow one).

About the strings I dont know but since they use the straps from ernie ball they may use the ernie ball strings too.

I've looked on the packaging for Ernie Ball, though... they list musos who use Ernie Ball. No Jonny/Chris/Coldplay to be seen :(

yeah in the dunlop picks website they are not in the list either, but they use it.

For more current shows, Chris and Jonny both use Fender patch series straps (in some close up photos, you can see the patch with the red star on it). However. I think Jonny also has some different straps on a few of his guitars (his older sunburst Jazzmaster has a fender tweed for example.)
