So on a tl;dr-scale, what you're basically saying is that on none of the estimated 170 billion galaxies, none of them has intelligent life on them? I think not.

 

I've clearly not said that?! I believe there quite possibly could be? How have you got that from my post? My point was that Life is rare because as far as we know its only happened once, then on top of that, intelligent life has only happened once. Now add in all the other important factors and you have extremely rare. So again, how did you come to the conclusion that extremely rare equals no intelligent life anywhere??

Yeah, that post was a heck of a lot different if you thought one of the commas was a period.

I bet if there are aliens, we've got their looks terribly wrong.

They could even just look like drops of water floating around in the air, or anything.

I really don't know what I think, whether they exist or not.

I would bet my house that life existed elsewhere in the universe, as for intelligent, well that is extremely rare. Out of the billions of species on earth, and including all the extinct ones, we are the only ones with our unique intelligence. Also Im sad to say that I really doubt aliens will ever locate humans. Let me explain why. The Aliens would A. Need to be more intelligent than us which we know is extremely rare. B. Need to be able to locate us which is the equivilent of locating an Atom in the ocean. C. Need to travel near light speed. Even at light speed it would take 2.5 million years to reach our nearest galaxy andromeda so really we are limited and have to ignore all the other possible life in the rest of the cosmos.

 

Also another point is that even if the aliens could locate us they would need to have lifespans of thousands of years or live aboard a ship with generations of aliens, this would mean a vast amount of resource is necessary. That being said, im not ruling out technology that would allow this, such as stasis or wormholes, i just think that is also unlikely.

 

I understand that it would be near imposible for an avanced alien race to find us even if they existed. But I don't know how familiar you are with the Type 1,2,3 and 4 civilzation theory, Kaku talks about it. I think that it is very possible for a type 3 or 4 civillization to find us IF THEY EXISTS!

I think that the numerous discoveries of exoplanets point to the possibility of extra terrestrial life forms, but the distances on their own make any meaningful communication impossible.

I've always thought that all those people who claim to be abducted and anally probed are likely to have blocked out some form of child abuse and semi-remembered it at a later date. Or just talking bullshit of course.

There is a precedent for that. The legends of demons like the incubus and succubus are believed to have been started as a way to cover up abuse and incest. Little virgin girl gets knocked up by daddy in a culture that despises pregnancy out of wedlock, just blame it on the demons. Horrible things happen now, just blame it on the aliens.

 

Sleep paralysis in particular- a natural occurrence where you wake up unable to move because the hormones that stop you from sleepwalking every night haven't worn off yet (as I understand it)- gets blamed on whatever the boogeyman of the moment is- demons in the medieval era, ghosts when ghost stories were popular, and now aliens because alien abduction stories are popular.

Never really thought about it... but it makes sense that it's probably blocked memories.

 

I do though think that there are Aliens are out there. I mean to think that we are the only life forms or even intelligent life in this vast universe is kind of arrogant. In terms of UFO's being aliens... I don't know what to think. A lot of reportings I think are hoaxes and or military operations, but who knows.
